Don't know why he's calling this a 'chignon', though. Merriam-Webster definition: ": a knot of hair that is worn at the back of the head and especially at the nape of the neck".

Lemme see if I understand this.... he flat-irons out all her natural curls ("natural texture" as he calls them) so that it will be perfectly "smooth" and "shiny" and "beautiful" (his word). But he does NOT use a comb/brush when making the ponytail, because you "don't want it to be completely smooth and straight because it starts to look like a princess rather than a modern, really beautiful interpretation of that."
Which is beautiful... smooth/straight or NOT smooth/straight?

@BeeBuzzy100 I'm sure. Beats me why stylists always use those instead. The only thing I can figure is that maybe it lets you adjust the tightness of the band without looping the hair through it so many times?

If I had her hair texture, I would skip the flat iron. Especially if I had the length to pin up and I just wanted to finger comb it. And if I wanted to keep texture in it, like he says. Otherwise, love the 'do, and like Ted Gibson.
That looks like the exact same hairstyle I got when my mom forced me to get my hair done at walmart for homecoming.

this is what i wear to gym class. i wouldn't call this a chignon or whatever, i would call it a "gym class bun" or "i need to quickly run to the grocery store bun"

I agree that if I straighten my hair, I guarantee that I won't be throwing it up like a school girl on the way to volleyball practive. I'm still trying to figure out when a "throw up" to go to the grocery store became "cool" to wear to a formal event. Maybe it's just me.
@browneyedgirlllll well sometimes i like to straighten my hair when i want to wear it up. i have frizzy wavy hair and if i want i really sleek ponytail, yeah....im going to straighten my hair, or really any updo that i dont want to be messy, wavy and frizzy..... what are YOU talking about?? ....

Why would I flat iron my hair just to throw it up and make it look messy? I do this with my hair when I'm cleaning my house and need it out of my face. Since when does lazy hair do's look good?
Oh My Holly God, The woman in this video has exactly same brows, eyes, nose, lips, face structure and even the mimic with me.....So it's true, we all have our twins at least 7 in this world, and I found 1 of them !
This is not a chignon. A chignon is worn low at the nape of the neck not on the crown of the head.

i can do that without bobbie pins but my hair is really long almost down to my butt*give it about 15 more inchea and it will be there *still dont get why hair stylists think they can go up to my hair and ask me to play with it* not to be vein
Those sheets (used at the beginning) are weird...seems wasteful, just use product from a bottle, you know?

It's a bit lower tough, or it'd seem you have a sort of watermelon right on the top of your head
