I did a lot of Dungeness Crab fishing off the historical pier on the San Fransico bay. No limit must be 6 inches. The Asian community would come around every evening just before the pier closed and buy my whole catch of the day. I did it on a 1- month vacation Had a blast.
Snaring for dungies from shore has been nearly impossible due to the swells and storms recently, so I guess Pacifica’s pier is one of the few safe bets? How bad does the combat fishing and attitudes get on that pier though, in your experience?
I was wondering this same thing since I'm only 2 hours away and LOVE crab. This looks like a blast. My dad grew up in Pacifica and we are due a trip out there. Wondering how welcome a noob would be out there.
@@JobraKai just stay away from the end of the pier when you start. After you get to know the regulars then you can fish next to them. Use mono they get mad if you use braid. Don't cross lines and you will be fine.
2hrs away? You pretty far inland or just that far away from Pacifica but still coastal? Only reason I'm asking is because Pacifica is the only public pier that you can crab for dungeness in the _entire_ Bay Area, so it gets absurdly packed out there and is why combat fishing tends to be such a big problem i.e. regulars or locals with "their" spot that they'll be super tribal about, overly rude/aggressive, etc.. There *are* plenty of cool people that you'll encounter out there though-- any of the regular YT anglers you might run into there are all good people, for example-- but if you're making a multi-hour drive just to crab out at Pacifica... I dunno man... If you like crab and don't mind rock crab, then there are a lot more places for you to catch your fill both inside and outside the Bay. The daily bag limit is much bigger for rock crabs as well. When swells make crabbing for dungeness NG along the coast, I know that I can catch a ton of rock crabs insides the bay at places like Fort Baker (Marin side of GGB), Fort Point, SF Muni Pier, as well as the Alameda Rock Wall if you're on the East side of the Bay.
You can but I wouldn't recommend it. The waves will take your trap and wrap it around the pylons. Very few people do it and if the do there putting like 25 lb weights in them.
It is legal to keep the female crabs in Calif. Some do, some don't. I do until or unless they have the egg sacks. A lot of the locals that live close enough to go crabbing a lot usually toss them back. A lot of the locals don't keep the rock crabs either. I do, less meat but still good eating!!!!
Nice haul guys. There's something addicting about crab snaring.
This looks like so much fun and close to home too! Thanks for sharing man!
Double limits! it was nice meeting you on the pier. You guys were on fire.
Next time I will give you a little hint to increase your odds. Nice meeting you too.
Wow limits off the pier?! That takes skills! Nice job
Thanks. It was a good day!!!
Awesome video - wow what actions...!
We were there Friday. We had 4 keepers. Great video

I am going back again soon to do it again, I can't wait. I caught a lot of Fish which I sold too.
Amazing!! That’s my favorite casting spot on the pier. What kind of snares did you use?? Pucci?
Nvm just took another look at your snares and they don’t look like Puccis. What brand is this?
The link to the snares is in the description. Crab slayers snares
Thank you!
Nice! What day did you guys go? My family and I went on Monday and got skunked. The weather was nice but swells were ridiculous.
FRIDAY swell was really light.

It's wasn't bad that day. It was kinda rainy so the regulars didn't show up.

👍 nice man where did you get you're snare from?
It's in the description. Crab slayer snares.
nice catches! how long did you fish for?
4 hours
West Coast Fishing and More nice 10 crabs in 4 hours. nice!
After you cast it in, how long do you let it sit til reeling it in?
It depends on the crabs. If they are moving around 5 minutes. If it is slow 10 to 15 minutes. Hope this helps.
What time did you guys get out there in the morning?!and you were using squid 🦑
5:30 squid and chicken.
Hi, can you use Crab pots off Pacifica pier? If so Do you see many people doing.

Yes it is legal, but we practice letting the females go so that they can reproduce. It's a personal choice. Nothing wrong with keeping the females.
how do you cast it out?
Happened to last Saturday too a female pinched my middle finger good...!
I live in Frisco. Where is this at?
Pacifica peir
@@WestCoastFishingandMore oh okay, super far from me.
@@str8fitness928 If your in San Fancisco it like 10 minutes from you.
@@WestCoastFishingandMore I live in texas
@@str8fitness928 Oh we cast San Fransisco Frisco.
Using a Crab Net is much more efficient. Leaving time to fish the bay with a rod and reel.
