They ruined a beautiful car.
The saloon, however, is even worse, it has entirely lost the last remainder of the traditional Mercedes (saloon) face.
They have and will ruin every single model in their lineup. I loved Mercedes Benz before. Now I really dislike it.
The rear is the same. The sedan also has lights more like the coupe now. People love the coupe even more. Then you go on to say the sedan is worse? Lol. People are silly.

Look at every Mercedes (saloon) up until the W124. For nearly a century they shared the upright grill with the star on top.
They began to lose this with the W124's facelift in 1991 and have since done everything in their power to lose their heritage, and now succeeded with this bland vehicle.

I’m a fan of this channel and this is Another in-depth review of a car I’ve been considering.
You can tell it’s very much a ‘grown up’ vehicle which is both comfortable and luxurious.
Many reviewers only like to talk about ‘sporty’ credentials regarding a vehicle and disregard what it’s built for and good at. The E Class is built for luxury, not drag races nor drifting. Thomas sounds so relaxed whilst driving and that In itself tells you how the E Class makes you feel.
It’s a great looking luxurious car which is why I’d consider the e class.
The brilliant blue is also a great colour from Mercedes and one of my favourites especially with the night package. (External black trim)

To my eye, Mercedes played it safe on their exterior design. This is in stark contrast to their interior cabin which is by far class leading. Those iconic DRLs with 1,2 or 3 beams denoting the ‘class’ of Mercedes were a real standout feature.
The E coupe has always been one of my favorite vehicles. Though, this one doesn't look aggressive enough.

The active lane keeping assist on my A class works great, almost a year and I haven't had a single issue with it. And I love how it changes lanes alone if you use the blinkers on the highway.

what an ugly front of the car
the base avaunt guard and exclusive look good, they have more of a hexagram front grill then the amg, which looks like a sad droopy face.
Purposely done to “push” people to upgrade to amg line

@@intergalacticsucker1724 i dont think so because the amg with the floating dots looks rather nice, the standard amg A shaped grill looks bad, but the avaunt guard and exclusive looks really good.

I wouldn't say ugly, just bland. The chrome traditional front looks more defined I feel but the headlights look like an afterthought.

Ich habe das aktuelle Modell. Warum fehlt die Analog Uhr. Und warum wurde da nicht der Warnblinker hingesetzt an die Stelle, wenn man die Uhr schon weg nimmt?! Die Netze hinten und vorne sind weg? Die Pins sind statt aus Aluminium aus Plastik jetzt. Alles Kleinigkeiten aber die sparen eben. - Aber das Fahrzeug kostet mehr. Passt nicht. Sorry, wegen Deutsch aber ich fange nicht an, mit einem Deutschen auf Englisch zu schreiben. 😏😃
A P Was hast du denn für einen Motor drunter? Kenne mich nicht soo gut mit den normalen Mercedes Motoren aus was die an Hubraum,Aufladung,Leistung etc haben. Und wie viel km hat dein Wagen so drauf? Würdest du sagen Mercedes sind immer noch so gute und haltbare Autos wie sagen wir in den 70gern/80gern?
... zumal dieses Englisch ja "so to say" mehr Deutsch als Englisch ist :-)
@Autogefühl: "sozusagen" heißt übrigens auf Englisch "so to speak" oder "as it were"...
Der Schtiede habe gesamte Ausstattung also alles, was man bestellen kann für das Coupé aber nur den 220d mit 194 PS. Ich habe ein Leasing Fahrzeug, welches jedes Jahr wechselt. Eventuell nehme ich nächste mal den CLS oder erst mal gar kein Auto über den Winter, mal sehen. Auch wegen Gründen wie es wegen Corona weiter geht. Wenn noch mehr „kluge“ Leute sich nicht an Masken und Abstand halten werden mehr Arbeitsplätze verloren gehen. Ich hatte vorher 7 Jahre lang Audi Leasing. Immer A 5 Sportback. Ich muss sagen das E Coupé hat qualitativ Vorteile, sofern man ein E Coupé mit dem A5 vergleichen kann denn 67.000 sind was anderes als knapp 90.000 Euro. Das HUD, die Übersichtlichkeit und Bedienung sind bei Audi besser. Das Fahrverhalten, Geradeauslauf, Beleuchtung innen und außen, Sitze, Leder, Kamera, Assistenzsysteme meist bei Mercedes etwas besser. Allerdings kann man bei Mercedes nicht einstellen, dass man 10 oder 15 km/h schneller fahren möchte als Schilder zeigen. Man muss jedesmal übersteuern wenn das Fahrzeug „alleine fährt“ mit automatischer Geschwindigkeitsanpassung. Über die Haltbarkeit nach 20.000 km kann ich wenig sagen. Aber ich fürchte, überall wird heute „auf Kante genäht“. Das heißt hat ein Fahrzeug sein Lastenbuch überschritten gibt es Klappern (vor allem bei AMG) und die viel besprochenen Bremsgeräusche bei Mercedes. Einfach in Foren schauen. LG

Exterior facelift is a complete failure ☹️ WTF is going on with Mercedes! At least I feel better about my 2017 C300 coupe.

I have the pre face-lifted e coupe and thought the new front made the car look worse, till I saw the new one in person at the showroom. Equally beautiful, less elegant but meaner looking.
Hey Thomas, at approx. 5:36....that‘s not a fake air intake. They are called air curtain and are similar to the ones in the C-Class. They are not intakes. It‘s supposed to move some of the air around the car (the exit should be in front of the wheels/rims) and this reduces the air resistance.
Ich finde die MoPf doch recht gelungen. Klar, optisch muss man sich daran gewöhnen. Aber diese Konfiguration von dem E Coupé ist wirklich der Hammer! Die Felgen, dazu auch noch 'Thomas & Nico blue' (Brilliantblau) 😂😋.

The W212 pre face-lift is the best looking E Class of all time. Aggressive yet elegant.
The W211 was the best looking E Class. The W212 pre facelift E Class looks 20 years old even though it isn't. The facelift W212 is a big improvement.
The w211 looks even older. Everyone can see that.
@@alonzoharris222 No way. Parked side by side, the W211 looks more modern than the W212 pre facelift. Only the W212 facelift looks more modern. Especially the interior. The interior of the W211 is better.
Erm you're completely wrong. The w211 had the old round headlights which makes it look like it's from the eighties. The w212 interior is miles betrer and is traditional Mercedes. I've owned the w211 and have a w212 and w213 estate now so I'll believe my own eyes. Thanks.
@@alonzoharris222 Disagree. I have a 2015 W212 E350 Bluetec (Facelift). I maintain that the W211 looks better on the inside and outside. Even the build quality is better on the W211. Has less rattles than the W212.

I like the exterior styling, and the beige interior looks very nice.
Very very, silent in the drive, I can hardly hear any wind or noise from the engine.
Personally ,I would prefer the sedan because 4 doors are more practial for me.
Getting passengers in and out with a 2-door coupe is just a pain for me .
Overall sleek, silent , cruiser , you can do hundreds of miles easily with this car .

The lines are smooth I find this new style may be more fitting for the A-Class. It's so fluid it makes the car look smaller and less sporty

I have the pre face lift cabriolet and I absolutely love it, not that fussed on the new one as it’s not a big enough update.

Is there any engine on E-Klasse without fake exhausts? I mean, except for e53.
And what will a diesel exhaust do to you, to throw black smoke in your face after the engine is worn out !!! Only sports cars should have real exhaust pipes, and everything else should have absolutely no exhaust.
Maybe this car will get the 2.0 like the upcoming C63 AMG! 2 liters... price will be similar too current 4.0L version.

So the team that determined interior features really thought it was a good idea to have two different infotainment control systems as an option? Either choose the older wheel/touchpad or the newer style trackpad. I prefer the older style wheel which looks much nicer but in the sedan, you should definitely not have the option to choose one or the other; that just makes absolutely no sense.
Couldn't be more happier with my 19' E Coupe, sadly the design has been on a down slope since then.
Looks wimpy compared to the pre-face lift version
I really dislike the secondary disks in the wheel. They belong on the EQ models exclusively.
I think the VW Arteon has good closing sound although it has frameless door windows. Great review btw
The greatest improvement on this E coupe on its immediate predecessor is the re-introduction of beige and brown leather interior options where previously you could have any colour so long as it’s black (at least in the UK). It’s also nice to see the removal of alcantara, a luxury vehicle needs luxury touches and the alcantara previously lead me to BMW. I’m glad I can now come back to the E coupe, even with the 8 month lead time.
I just have to say - I miss the star in front of any Mercedes today. This brand can carry it compared to e.g. BMW or Audi which cannot. Perhaps not on the sport coupe but the sedan and estate should have the star. Or what do you think?

Have there been any successful facelifts in 2020 for any of the German brands? Looks like the majority is being hated on (BMW 4, VW GTI, etc).
I think the A5/S5/RS5 facelifts were pretty darn good.

I didn’t like the design at first, but now I see a modern interpretation of the R107 in a more fluid, dynamic form.
As a BMW fan, I have to say this has a much more beautiful front than the Series 4😕
Question: how did it know to change the temperature for the driver? Does it have some directional sensor for listening? I first assumed it must be weight sensor in the seat, but the cameraman is in the back seat.

In BMWs, there are two microphones, so one on each side, then it can figure out where the voice came from. I guess it's the same in Mercedes cars

Finally a brand that did not upside their grille.
They’ve spoilt it. It used to be one of the prettiest cars. This looks like it had a head on collision and got put back together by a mechanic who didn’t know what the original looked like, based on a description of it by the owner over the phone.
Grille is a mistake upside-down
Like the current steering wheel there is the black background version (avantgarde), and there is the silver background version AMG line. I wish they did the wheel as you see here, but in stead of the black background, make it silver, as it means (to me) that it's easier to see the buttons etc and aids in better muscle memory

Whats with the 10 fps display’s on a 50000k car?
I think Mercedes did better with the capacitive buttons since there is separation between them and those that work with touch or slide is indented. There's no dual functionality which can make it confusing so this seems good.
Especially dont like the steering wheel design. Looks too cute with its round shapes. Not a feeling you want to get from such a masculine car.
The steering wheel, what a turn off
If you spend serious money on a car, it has to look good on the drive way and on the road. It's worrying how plain this car looks.
The front is nice - I also had my reservations until I saw it live. The only thing I wish they would have done better is the Avantgarde design "chrome blade" in the front, which is split in 2 parts and the split is in the middle. The cars I have seen has those 2 parts coming apart... Steering wheel needs a rollback for the controls sections; the new controls on the steering wheel are not very userfriendly or "comfortable". Also too many controls.
Also seems there are still software issues to manage.

@Krish Garg I know, but the rotary dial and touchpad in this model are around 5-6 years old. I just don't know why they couldn't put in the touchpad from the A-class and new S-Class. I know it's nit-picky, but some people may not enjoy that being there when a $36,000 A-class has a better touchpad
Yes, but this button's and display solution will age far to quick. No one will wants to use this "temporary" solutions in 10 years from now as by then they will be completely diferent.
I was hoping for this E class to be my next car, driving BMW F11 atm. But cmon:
Steering wheel is clear downgrade (cheaper production costs) compare to prefacelift version, to big fake exsaust, missing main navigation rotary button (so i am force to use touch pad while driving - which is far from the same), finger magnet on rest of the buttons and especially touchscreen. If i would pull the plugs i would completely forbid to use touch screen solution and usage while driving, due to road safety issues.
@@TomoKW I definitely do not enjoy the touch screen craze that a lot of car manufacturers are going with. I enjoy having some kind of command input like Audi's MMI turn wheel or BMW's iDrive wheel. It just feels more intuitive and allows for the driver to stay more focused on the road ahead instead of having to check if they're hitting the correct button. I also preferred the metal AMG wheel in the A-class compared to the one shown here.

Couldn't help but notice on the "Thomas Blue" car the chrome bumper trim, front and back, is comprised of two separate pieces. Looks cheap.

+1. .. A thorough review from Herr Thomas & the Autogefuhl crew. .. Still driving my '94 E-Class 320 Coupe (W124). .. 99% original & built like a tank. .. Of the '21 E-Class Coupe vs Cabriolet,,,, I believe the Cabriolet body has a design edge. .. Does the '21 E-Class Coupe & Cabriolet share a "Body-in-White" with the C-Class chassis as once before? .. A Mercedes B-pillarless Coupe with the sunroof open is pretty damn close to a Cabriolet.
