I got to meet Jerry Corbetta in 1974 when Sugarloaf played at The Buccaneer Club (The Buc) in Greenville NC. I was in The Buc's 'house band' and while they were setting up their equipment, Corbetta asked to see my B3. He played it for a couple minutes, (how I wish there were cell-phone cameras back then!) and then he let me see, and play his B3 for a minute. His B3 was 'customized' somehow and could do things other B3's couldn't do.
Jerry is So Great!!! I can not believe my eyes; I just found out he was active recently.......yes that is PETER RIVERA on drums!!! lead singer/drummer of Rare Earth!!!
I remember Rare Earth as a young teen. I said to myself I want to be like Peter Rivera. Sing and play drums. Played many power trios. I loved singing. I still have my Shure head mic.
I was a 5 year old boy when this tune hit the airwaves. There were two songs that my father told me contained important life lessons in the lyrics. "Don't Call Us" and "Serve Somebody " by Dylan.
On this day in 1975 {March 1st} Sugarloaf performed "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'... Three months earlier on December 7th, 1974 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #9 and spent 21 weeks on the Top 100... Between 1970 and 1975 the group had five Top 100 records; with two making the Top 10 and "Green-Eyed Lady" being their biggest hit, it reached #3 on the Top 100... R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...
I saw the Classice Rock All Stars a few years before this at the Natchitoches Jazz Fest. They were great, and Jerry Corbetta was the highligt of the show. I was sad to hear he's gone now.
REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY to the CONTROL FREAKS: Michah 2:6-7! Thus saith The LORD: DON'T CALL US...WE'LL CALLLLL YOUUUUU! REAP THAT WHRILWIND THAT YOU SOWED! TURN AROUND IS FAIR PLAY IN THE GAME OF LOVE AND WAR!
I'll assume the bass player is making the lines that Max Bennett reportedly played on the master recording but this mix is too muddy to discern whether that is the case.
Great hook,it stays with you long after the song ends.
Man I still love this song after 1st hearing it as a teenager when it was released !
Now it's don't call us, we'll text you!
amen, my brother
Sometimes in life when you are told you can't do something, it's a blessing because it gives you more resolve to succeed.
Geweld ik was toen 14 jaar oud toen dit nummer uit kwam, ben nu 62
this is why I write songs on you tube

Saw Peter and Rare Earth at a club in Mandeville, La. in '82. Great show.
Awesome! Love Jerry Corbetta!
I like the phone sounds on the original version. Deet de de deet...
You'd think he'd have that part recorded in his keyboard and just oress a button or key.
i'm certain the #'s been changed, but that was the actual ph number of the "cat" who hung up on him
I love this band, Mike, JerryPeter,Dennis RIP

Love this stuff not the junk ok today's so called music😝
Great Song! At least in 1976 you could understand who you were talking to.
Great song...sounds like the astronaut selection process...
Anyone ever wonder what could have happened if two keyboard magicians say like Jerry Corbetta and Gary Wright would have somehow collided? 🤔
This must have been one of Jerry's last public performances.
Fanfriggintastic..
Oh, that brilliant digitally reproduced sound. It's like I'm right there...if a fire broke out and I was caught in a stampede. ...waste of time.
Don't calls. I nots wanna talky to u. 🙉
I came to hear the sweet rattlesnake snare drum sound that is in the recorded version, its not here.

Named after Sugarloaf Mountain in Colorado
Interesting that there is also a Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine. Gotta love Green Eyed Lady too.

Could of been all right.
I'm listening with headphones to this; sounds like shit, try me
Add one to my comment about listening with headphones, Effin noisey add 1...
They buried his vocal
Way to much chit chat, just do the song.....jeez.
Well he's not chatting anymore.
He's dead.
