Which wildly inappropriate movie did you see in school?
POOL RULES
One: Speak up and join the conversation- we encourage respectful debate.
Two: Respect your community- racism, misogyny, homophobia and hate speech aren’t tolerated.
Three: Don’t go looking for fights.
Four: “Be nice.” - Dalton from Roadhouse
Fandom Entertainment Night of the Living Dead, in middle school? I think they charged us 25¢ or 50¢ to watch it In the school auditorium, about 15 minutes at a time after lunch.
I saw Stand By Me in eighth grade at school in 2014. That was considered innaprorpriate due to the swearing, so it was a secret.
Lord of the Flies in philosophy class
Actually, fun fact about William Wallace, this movie is just as realistic and true to the story as much as the historical records of William Wallace. There’s actually little proof that he existed and is more pointed towards as a propaganda piece to hype of the rebellion of Scotland. The whole lightning from his eyes, and fire balls from his ass, is just as true as a mythological stories of Greece like Hercules.
The Human Centipede
Yes, I watch the commentaries first.
I like the chaos 🔥🔥🔥
"I'm an agent of chaos."
Some people just want to watch the world burn. 😄
Hard same bro
@@memorra beat me to it ;)
Yes, when I think of chaos, commentary is a close second.
Guys... these are the Honest Trailers we need!!!! MOOOORRRREE MOOOORE CLASSICS!!!!!! MOOOOORE RANDOM!!!!! You can tell you guys enjoy doing this and it shows in the finished product, great job!!!
The last 60 seconds of this video was the funniest thing ever!! :D
omg now i need the Honest Trailer for Robin Hood: Men In Tights.. the rolled R's killed me lol
+
Happy 295th Honest Trailer, Screen Junkies! Do you have any special plans for the 300th episode?
Nah they’ve gotta save it for 500 and then 1000
Braveheart falls into the category of movie where if I see a single frame of it on TV or Netflix, I must watch it in its entirety. I adore this movie and loved what you guys had to say about it. Great commentary!
The last two minutes of this episode might be the best moment in all of Honest Trailer Commentary history. Every time I rewatch this I am in tears. 😂
Helping with your experiment, Dan: Just for the record, I would have kept watching for a lot longer before the trailer started. Possibly forever.
The show about a show that I watch before I watch that show!!
Me too! We're maniacs!!!!
Calcifer Boheme and proud!!!
I'm Scottish, and James Cosmo happens to be, something like, my Uncle-once-removed (I've never quite worked it out). I know the film is ridiculous, but there is some evidence Wallace's wife was killed. When I was in the USA in 2001, I met some Native Americans and they were so excited to meet a Scotsman and they told me they loved the film - it spoke to them so much about their historical struggle. It really moved me. So, you know, stories...
That's awesome, who has to die for you to inherit Longclaw?
Joe’s joke about rolling around in the dirt immediately after getting off the boat!!!
First visit in Scotland and the local guide immideately went off on a rant after someone referenced this movie. Apart from what is mentioned in the honest trailer: The title Braveheart apparently belonged to Robert de Brus. And to top it off (in Brians words): "Even the bagpipes they used for the soundtrack were IRISH!" Poor guy!
the Joe meat between two Dan buns!
the best Dandwich!
It took me a second but I got it.
"How long will the audience wait for us to start talking about the trailer?" As long as it takes. I just love listening to you guys!
TIL: Joe thinks i'm a lunatic...... Wonder what he would think if he knew people watched ONLY the commentary!?
When you’re running dry in early spring before the big movies come out you should do an Honest Trailers “Spring Cleaning” where you get through some movies you’d wanted to get to for a long time.
Props to whoever was messing with video at 20:12. Was watching the whole time. I appreciate your work
The weird thing is, this shows up in my Up Next list before the original Honest Trailer does. I usually end up clicking on this, then finding the link to the original, then coming back afterwards.
As a Scotsman, I approve of this whole commentary. Keep working on that accent though, Dan.
Once again, you've used Spencer in the icon against me....it was all a lie
To be fair I see Joe :)
@@joeokeeffe2083 Meh, it's almost the same thing anyway.😜😂
"it was all a lie"
It is their homage to the 'accuracy' of the film.
You think you had it bad my icon showed William Dafoe i want my Dafoe!!!!!!!
@@joeokeeffe2083 yeah, now it's showing Joe in my icon. Weird 😅
Watching commentary first is like skipping the article and reading the comments straightaway.
Gives you both viewpoints in one go :]
As a northern english person I can tell you that you absolutely nailed Scotland at the end there. "did you get your dirt yet?" hahaha
As long as we’re doing wildly inaccurate movies, do Mary Queen of Scots!
The accent?
I have just started the video and I can't wait what they have to say.
Dan, I would have gotten and appreciated the "In Brogh" joke. I tip my hat to you sir.
Hailey Boyle is it cause he was in "In Bruge"?
So with the epic poem as a resource and even adapting that loosely, this really is just like Troy.
Yet another lovely Dan-wich!❤😊
"Must be a king."
"Why?"
"He hasn't got shit all over him."
Fun fact- Lord Nelson's real last words weren't "Kiss me Hardy" but "Drink drink fan fan rub rub!" (Thank you QI)
Just for the record, the story that ALL people EVERYWHERE and EVER did not take a bath and smelled badly, is an urban myth. It originates from the decline in bathing in Western and Central Europe during the Middle ages. Vikings took a bath every week. In ancient Greece and Rome there were public baths where people spent a lot of time . Plus they had small indoor tubs as well as small ones for washing their feet when they entered their home. Gymnasiums in Ancient Greece had baths to use after training. Byzantine cities even had special fountains just outside the city so that travelers would wash themselves before entering the city. And if you do a small research, you will find that many cultures around the world cared a lot about personal hygiene.
But that is what happens when the history of Western Europe becomes The History,. So please, don't participate in spreading these urban myths. Unfortunately, most people are TV and Movies educated, although they deny it if you ask them. What they see in a movie or a tv show represents their historical reality.
I’m so glad I miss things like the wash your legs controversy or debate.
Movies I watched in school: Pearl Harbor, Ghettysberg, Spartacus, Ben Hur, Life is Beautiful, Saving Private Ryan, Amistad, and Kennth Branaugh's Hamlet. Your parents sign a form and they let you watch all sorts of stuff.
My Spanish teacher showed The Three Amigos for class once.
"'Ee's no a Scotsman!" "'Ow can ye tell?" "'Ee's no covered in shite like the rest o' us!"
Unfortunately a missed opportunity of not pointing out Mel Gibson running in every movie, he was Cruise-ing before Tom 🙂
I am so happy to see Danielle take a more active role in Screen Junkies.....um in Fandom. Excellent addition!!!!! 💯🔥💯 Maybe a Danielle centric show about anything would be fine with me🤔👍🏾🖖🏾👏🏾🙂
In Brogue was great. Finally I'm a 1 percenter!
Bruges?
@@telectronix1368 If I was born on a farm...
Possibly best Honest Commentaries ending ever!
You guys gotta do Full Metal Jacket for a Honest Trailers.
I don't know what the likelihood of this is, but honest trailer for The Favourite would be ace.
Just realized never watched Braveheart on original language,
Only watch with my father dubbed in portuguese. Gonna rewatch!
Dan speaking in a Scottish accent is maybe the sexiest thing I've heard all week
It was the Lord of the rings that got investigated about the horses.
Best ending ever! Please more spontaneous endings to these
In Brogue is a better joke...stand up and be recognised Sir Dan.
And after reading the comments theres a lot of these 1% who agree!
A lot of times I seem to get the 1% jokes more
These episodes are so real I love how much love it gets
I have to point out mary queen of Scots starred an Irish woman as the Queen of Scotland and an Australian as the Queen of England.
So nothing has really changed.
A great movie with hardly any historical accuracy. Where's the scene where Wallace makes a belt for his sword out of the flesh of an English commander? :)
Not even an English commander, just some royal flunky. But then that's the actual reason why he didn't have a normal execution.
I saw Stand By Me in eighth grade at school in 2014. That was considered innaprorpriate due to the swearing, so it was a secret.
Ight now i just want a commentary with just the Scottish accents from you guys
try the How to Train Your Dragon one
why do you want to punish us?
I would happily watch just you guys talking before the actual trailer starts to be played for what you would surely deem a disturbingly long amount of time lol
Really enjoying these Blockbuster Summer picks! And I can't believe Joe's health teacher picked The Towering Inferno for a fire safety lesson! LOL I feel we need some honest trailers for those 70s disaster films now like that one and the Poseidon Adventure!
Props to Danielle, who also worked Sunday night yet still showed up on Monday. We know Spencer has a baby now but please tease him about this.
If Braveheart was your dad's 300, then Zulu is your Grandfather's 300
I was also shown Pulp Fiction in school. To be fair it was during gym period and I think the teacher just didn't want to work a couple days. Nobody complained.
Gimli is Welsh. Please let that have been a deliberate mistake for comic effect.
John Rhys Davies is Welsh but Gimli is very much coded as Scottish. I've never heard a Welshman say "laddie"
@@notsosuperpete1689 Ahhh. Good point, boyo.
Know quite a few of the hobbit dwarves are Scottish but isn’t Gimli welsh? The actor who plays him is anyway.
I don't think I saw this until it was out of theaters on video, but given the era "spoilers" weren't as much a thing and so I can still clearly remember being just blindsided by what happened to our main hero--whom seemed to always have an out. Just floored me and made the epilogue battle just hugely impacting at the time (accuracy be damned.)
Braveheart came out while I was in film school. My classmate and I left the theatre, turned to each other, and said in unison, "those were the worst transitional edits I have ever seen."
Braveheart won the Best Editing oscar.
I love when you do movies you just want to do. And yes, always watching this first.
The last 30 seconds..... awesome
Happy to hear some love for In Bruges
I only watch the commentaries...bring me my straight jacket!
Gladiator and Pirates has literally the same main theme, Hans Zimmer didn't wanna give up on an epic beat 😅
I was unaware it was odd I watched the commentaries first! (I prefer them because they are typically yall just having so much fun)
Horner always used a chimes run during the action climax. Always.
19:01 This moment reminds me of one of my many favorite Abed lines from Community.
"And here's where we'll put the montage." "What's a montage?" "When a movie apologies for reality."
Joe talking about AOL Tavern chat role play gave me a terrible flashback to middle school. Can I sue for damages?
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
dan that comic book guy impression was spot on lol.
That ending though XD
The Robert the Bruce talk was so funny lol
I guess I'm a lunatic.
Don't worry you're not alone. I always watch the commentary first. Then i will put on the trailer but i don't really watch it since I've already watched it. I want to make sure they get the view though if that's not crazy i don't know what is.
I saw this in school too! Shoutout to Mrs. Allred
I remember watching Witness the Harrison Ford movie in class when I was in elementary school for some reason... There's death by corn and a nude scene in that movie. I liked it!
My friends in college once got into an all out rumble over Murron vs. the Princess. It was hilarious. The room got completely trashed.
What was that about Maverick? Is the director's cut better? I've only ever seen it on TV and I need to know if I'm missing something for if I should preserve my ignorance.
Speaking as an English person: did we do something to annoy Mel Gibson at some point? I mean, I know we're good villains for Americans generally, but between Edward I in this movie and Jason Isaacs going full Nazi in The Patriot, it feels a bit personal. I don't remember annoying Mel Gibson, but, well, it's Mel Gibson, who knows what might have set him off?
Gretchen from You're The Worst doesn't wash her legs. That's how that got started.
Am i bias if this is my favorite movie
"No one in this movie is a leg washer." - Danielle
🤣🤦🏻♂️ Good grief. 😂
Gimli was Welsh! John Rhys-Davies ...about as Welsh as you can get.
Rhys-Davies is Welsh (heritage) but Gimly was definitely from the Scottish side of the Middle Earth dwarves.
OMG watching the trailer i thought "wait i saw that at school, i didn't realise it was that violent" ^^ so Danielle ...same!
Just at the point where your talking about pre-modern era washing habits: I've heard a story about an English artifact that effectively states that when the Saxxon invaders (French vikings, essentially) were coming, the English women were smitten by them. Because they washed.
In geography class we had to learn the difference between American culture and Australian culture so they made us watch crocodile Dundee
Noah Olson we read Great Expectations in English class. 😂😅🤷♀️
I could watch your premovie talk all day guys.
Composer wise..... wrath of Kahn and mask of zorro... my favorites
Ahh Danielle is from Tacoma?? I’m from there too! In one class in high school I watched silence of the lambs for the first time so I feel her on watching pulp fiction. Tacoma must have a weird curriculum :)
I dont know, I would keep watching the banter without you actuallly watching the trailer
I literally ALWAYS watch this before the honest trailer.
It always bothered me that Titanic won the Oscar for Best Score, while Braveheart did not. Part of me wonders if that 's why James Horner just reused it for Titanic--to prove a point. I don't know if it got me into being a score nerd, but it is still one of my favorites.
Had a history teacher in college that spent two days of History of Medieval Warfare on movies and his summation of this movie was "Scottish penises are bigger than English pensises. That's what this movie has to say. Also the battles are inaccurate."
Have a look at the film Waterloo, there were something like 15,000 extras for the battle scene.
Best Honest Trailer Commentary EVER!
28:00 The phrase "Vatican City" didn't exist until the 20th century. Before 1929, the Vatican Hill and the Vatican Palace were just parts of Rome.
To be honest (because that is the point of your channel) I will watch you guys banter + the commentary. There is no time limit
Unfortunately Titanic was the only Oscar that James Horner won for Best Original Score.
I Think I want Danielle to host from now on.
I watched 300 in a World History history class freshman year of Catholic high school. I learned so much...
I'd love to see more Honest Trailers for Best Picture winners. Have you guys thought of doing an Honest Oscars theme for Q1 2021? If you guys ever do the Departed, I will melt with excitement
