I received my Expert card February 1st from Newegg and it reached a clock of 3080mhz on LV and stock cooler in vertical mount. Vertical mount on these cards blesses your MB with great air flow, and usually remains below 70c. Good luck!
If the Founder's Edition is the classic version, this is what happens when a very good company redoes the body while keeping the car's heart. It's gorgeous for an air cooled card. The Suprim is the best looking card of this generation but this is a VERY close second.
MSI should shift their super gimmicky gamer-GPU designs to this style. It looks really good. It honestly looks nearly as good as the founder edition. And regarding the price increase, I don't see anything wrong in having to pay a bit more for a good looking card. Especially when you have a clean PC setup with a glass panel.
Have an MSI Suprim X 4080 and appears to clock at 2820mhz (without overclocking) at around 57 degrees. I was expecting the expert cooler to perform a lot better than what it does.
if the clock speeds are higher on the expert, isn't cooling at the same temperature as the FE at base clock a good thing? or am i missing something here
The design looks pretty but only if you plan to vertically mount it. It's too bad that the design isn't incorporated on both sides because If you mount it horizontally, you will only see a huge flat surface with visible screws and an ugly sticker... (7:28)
My concern is I wanna run an air cooler and im slightly concerned the exhausted hot air will affect air flow for a tower. So I guess this is best paired with an AIO?
For me it was what I could get. Availability is low and people are scalping, so picking this up for retail cost me less than a Founders Edition. Mad world! But I can’t wait to plug her in.
Can anyone explain to me why the advertised boost clock speed is much lower than the actual boost clock speed? Advertised boost clock on Strix 4080 Super OC is 2640MHz, but when gaming its actually closer to 3000MHz, with some overclock settings its above 3000MHz easy. I had the same thing on my 4070 Ti, where the actual clock speed was 2900MHz+ I assume it's because I've increased the powerlimit to 131% in MSI Afterburner, which i always do, but not sure.
how about hot spot temps? memory temps? vrm probably ok but still interesting. How does the cooler perform without the plastic intake shroud on the bottom?
I commented with my findings on this exact card “For anyone who is interested in purchasing this card. Hotspot temps sit at around 80 max, Memory temps haven't gone higher than 72 degrees for me. Definitely a great design.”

I have an MSI RX 5700 EVOKE O.C and it's also completely metal with a very stylish design... It was also *the cheapest* RX 5700 around a few months after launch 🤔
I think I’m finally decided on the 4080 super fe for my new itx build. Last time I built a system Paul was still at the height of his fame with Newegg 😊
It does look really nice, but the added cost and other properties like noise performance shown here make it a bit of an odd choice for people into that range of card.
It's hard to beat the looks of the new Super series cards - that stealthy clean/sophisticated looking matte black finish. I already have an RTX 3080 but had to pick up an RTX 4070 Super after seeing how cool it looks.
Asus has left a bad impression on me in the last couple of years so I'm really looking into other brands again. It's nice to see great options from other brands as options. Especially when they are doing something a little different
I don't expect this card to sell very well given the context of the 4080 Super launch, but really hope MSI keeps making more premium, less "gamer-y" cards. I'm not sure drawing inspiration directly from the founders edition is the right move (because I don't know if they'll ever be able to compete on price) - but I'd definitely be willing to pay a bit extra for a well cooled, well built, and not obnoxious looking GPU
Pay extra over the already obnoxiously high price? I bought the cheapest 4080 I could (gigabyte gaming OC) because of the 200 bucks price drop and still resented the last 200 bucks of the new MSRP. Can't imagine paying another 200 bucks over that for anything, especially looks.

Still happy I got my 7900xtx way back. It’s still quite good rt if you want that, but I’m any other case basically wipes the floor with anything but the 4090. Pretty insane value to have a card that is often cheaper than even the 4080 super but has raster and vram at just under a 4090 level.
PLEASE stop spinning the fans with your fingers. It sends voltage backfeeding through the circuitry, can get the fan blades dirty, and can cause the fan to become unstable over time if too much pressure is accidentally applied. #DeathWobble
So what I'd consider buying at the moment. A 4080 super or 7900xt/xtx/8x00xt The power connector is currently the winning bet and I see why i shouldn't spend 850€ for it instead of 1200€+ for XTX/80super. And from what I understand, the 8000 series will target the 4080 level of performance, which is fair enough, but it will now expedite my purchase, especially considering that I don't plan to upgrade my mobo for another decade at least.
