The weekly shows started. This one was written by George Lefferts. Far in the future (1982, no kidding) spacemen discover the great space boundary. Trips to Mars and the moon are common, so they look to travel to the planet Volta, which is beyond the boundary. But this isn't your typical Love Boat cruise. Five ships have left, but none return. So a little more in the future (1987), the space ship Star Cloud prepares to crack the barrier. A good adventure story. I can picture the black-and-white Air Force uniforms and a good surprise ending. (from "The Critical X Minus One" by Jim Fanisher)

These shows are still better than what’s on TV today

The performances and writing had to carry them. Although if you listen to a wide range of radio programs from before the explosion of television in the 50's and 60's you'll find that they put out some mediocre shows as well. I do like nearly all of the X Minus One productions.
Another great show!! I am surprised at how entertaining these are! When I was a kid I always thought that sitting around the radio listening to stories would be boring, but how wrong I was! These stories are absolutely enthralling!

By far one of the best episodes of x minus one!
Heard this series and others on American Forces Network (AFN) Frankfurt as a kid almost every night. Gun Smoke, Our Miss Brooks, Have Gun will Travel, Yours Truly Johnny Dollar and The Shadow Knows brought a lot of color and enjoyment before bed time for a little boy. On Saturday mornings it was Big John and Sparky I didn’t want to miss with my father. Thanks for uploading these unforgotten gems!

I can't sleep with out these old time radio shows! They are so good, I did all the James Bond ones an there better then the moives!
These old radio shows are the only reason i haven't kilked my husband during this c19 shit.

This is amazing!
Its amazing to think these where usually done live. The studio was also a foley studio. Live performance with sound effects done in real time.
I used to do a live radio show called the waning moon, I was all the actors, the sound effects person and the producer. the show featured live dramatizations of horror tales

Great daytime show- not recommended for bedtime
Some of this voice acting is suprisingly good, I wasnt expecting such a good performance.

Listen to the Dimension X version for comparison. Dimension X and X Minus One have some episodes in common. I tend to favor Dimension X. Wendell Holmes played the Skipper in the D X version, in this one he’s Charly. Great fun to compare different productions of the same story.

Well folks it looks like the age-old question 'is there life on other planets' has finally been solved! There isn't any, because some random person on the internet said so! :-)
A little overdone with the klaxons and bells and other noises. They were definitely trying too hard to make the show sound exciting.
I'm guessing your young. Times change. That's what it was like back then.

i laugh everytime i hear dates. they’re way off. it may be centuries before these things happen. for instance, frequent space travel is nowhere near here yet. it started to seem that way during the Space Shuttle program until they started blowing up on a regular basis.
This was entertainment, not prophecy. They weren't being serious, you dolt.
