- In this video I talk about my frustrations with my local drag strip closing down for good. I have to regroup, and find somewhere I can test. We have one left in Nj, time to travel.

I feel your pain. The west is hurting for tracks bigtime.
Seems like they are closing everywhere.
I’m 20 min from Englishtown. Went through these frustrating and sad emotions then. Now Atco. Feels like a stomach punch. One man pissed off a lot of people !
He definitely did! From what I understand, 2 years ago he had offers from racers to buy it, but refused... But whatever I'll check out Island.
I grew up in Marlton Lakes and Medford. I went to Ossie VoTech for automotive and spent a little time at Atco Raceway as a teen. This is sad news for Jersey racers. I'm sorry man.

I lived in Tabernacle and used to pass it all the time. Back in the 90s I used to go there with my girlfriend’s brother who raced there. Always a blast
I've never had a bad time either. At least people will have good memories of the place.
Atco was my Local track! Bracket raced there for years represented Atco Raceway at bracket finals a couple years and took a step back when I had children and didn’t race for awhile! Fast forward and now my son is drag racing and I was able to go to two races there with him bought myself a new car to get back into drag racing and bammm. Closed! WTF!!! So I have also traveled up to Island dragway and only the distance was disappointing but that track was very well run! We both had an Amazing time there! But no more is the 20 minute trip to the drag strip a thing!
Yeah, the whole thing just blows. It's awesome your son got into it. We need to keep the younger generations interested... I was going to spray for the first time this year. I loaded the car up in the trailer a few days before the news came out... I still haven't tried another track yet... I'll eventually get there. Thanks for watching.

Very sad to see it go as someone who had grown up with the track, I was born in 56 learned to drag race there. Raced at all three places E town, Atco and Island. Island is a great track short shutdown area, but it's the only game in town.

This almost happened to us at Thunder Valley in Noble ok this last year. We still worry about what can happen in the future.
I would worry too. You're lucky it's still there. I think Atco's demise really came down to a bad owner... I hope you guys keep your track. To many are closing lately.
Streets def aren't the way to go, too much to lose. Besides what about the kids running jrs. They cant turn to the streets 😢
I totally agree about the streets... It really sucks for the kids! I don't know where they are going to go. Atco ran them all the time.
@@jimkiernan2855Unfortunately the answer is right in front of us. As hard as it is to admit. As someone grouped in the junior catagory, it's inevitability going to give everyone involved a harder time.

Funny story about atco when my son wanted to go racing with daddy I told him when he didn’t need diapers anymore he could come along and I never seen a child potty trained so quickly it’s sad I had to text him last week they were closed
That's an awesome story! The first time I went there was back in 94 or 95. I was still in high school... At least we will have memories of the place. I don't know what the next generation is going to do.

The problem is, people will keep complaining about the huge spike in street racing but continue to ignore all the places they aren't supporting to keep people from street racing. It does really suck and it's sad to see the entire racing community slowly turn to a street thing. All the morons doing street takeovers in cities doesn't help the look of the car community either.
It's getting harder.
I totally agree with you. I'm just going to travel for now to test, and maybe hit a dyno to get the nitrous sorted out. After that start hitting up races.
