Not my best video recommendation but the NFSA is an Australian treasure. It is the best way for people like me to see into the nations past. Through the NFSA I've seen coloured footage of the last Thylacine in captivity, what Christmas was like decades before I was born, and even our nations capital being built.
The film was made in 1968 so that hotrod was 40 years old at the time.
This is just about 10 mins away from my place. Just north of Penrith and can see the blue mountains in the background. Well should say was 10 mins away as the airstrip ain't no longer there. This closed down in 1984.
Wow I wonder how old that film is. The newest car I saw was an HD Holden so sometime after 1966?
Wow! What cool footage!
Aussies race anything they can. Boats down a dry river in Alice Springs to boats made of beer cans in Darwin. If it’s an opportunity to one up a mate we will race it.
We should try and catch up n a call soon bro. Hope you’re well man.
@@SquirrelRocks I’ll have to jump on your next live.
PS this was filmed last Tuesday. Were going to electricity next week!😅
And we're hoping to get colour soon! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Got your indoor dunny yet?
@@MarkJohnson-ro1ed Dunny? Whats that? We just go out to the scrub!
@@frednerk5959 What a bogan, you don't even have a Thunderbox!
@@MarkJohnson-ro1ed Thats SIR Bogan to you!😁👍
Yes we still celebrate Australia day which is Thursday Wednesday your Time I love cars like that and the roar of the engine oh boy bring back the old cars they rock
Castlereigh, I was gonna say lol until I seen it was old footage because the drag strip is at Sydney Motorsport park now. Top fuel are competing soon actually
Ah yes, was some nice viewing, enjoyed it. Hope you're well bigoz
@@SquirrelRocks I’m good mate thanks and hope the you and squirrel family are doing well
Castlereagh you pronounced right the 1st time it's like castle-way. 👍
While the Australia Day celebration date is controversial (the indigenous population rightly refer to it as Invasion Day), this video has nothing to do with Australia Day, nor do we watch drag racing on the 26th January. Unless we're talking about a different form of drag, but I'm not educated in that form of entertainment. Having said that, this was a great slice of history from the 1960's though.
NFSA stands for National Film Sound Archive. Doubt you will get a strike on this.
