    Dude's lucky to be alive. Once that tree contacts a high voltage conductor just leave it, it's already screwed. No sense in trying to knock it off of there and risk having that current go through you.

    • @firefightr_spike3846
      @firefightr_spike3846 2 года назад +20

      @mattaddison19 up to a certain voltage, yes. But with high voltage wood MAY eventually conduct current, especially if it has dirt, contaminants, fluid, etc. on it. Still not a risk I'd wanna take. If you listen closely when the tree makes contact with the line, you can hear the buzzing sound of the current running through it, and then it arcs at the end since that high voltage was able to break down what insulation the wood tree offered.

      With a high enough voltage AND amplitude, anything can become a conductor.

      @mattaddison19 up to 1kV wood, water and ground becomes as conductor as it were steel, he was pretty lucky.

      @nunyabuziness8421 2 года назад +1

      Thats a primary line and not enough juice to make wood a conductor 😆

      I’ve worked for a tree service and I’m no expert but we’ve done cuts like this many times. He did at least three things wrong that I noticed.
      1.) He had his lift on the wrong side. 2.)He didn’t cut the tree to fall AWAY from the power lines. And 3.) there was no rope tied to limb being cut (with leverage on the sturdy part of the tree) with a man on the ground hold the other end of the rope, who could release the slack slowly and drop the limb slowly where a third man can grab it and pull away from the power lines. Seems like the homeowner rented his own lift and chainsaw from Home Depot and just went for it lmao

    Dude is so getting fired. He's lucky he didn't get electrocuted. But imagine how many people filed complaints after they found out he caused a power outage. Does the sawing company have to pay for any damages to power companies when their employees do stuff like this?

    • @lililililililili8667
      @lililililililili8667 2 года назад +4

      This guy had no idea what he was doing but sometimes little bits of twigs fall in the lines when dealing with trees in close proximity to the lines and cause a power outage. The power company comes out in like 20 minutes and just turns it back on after making sure there is nothing dangerous have never heard of them charging anyone.

      Power lines like this are actually bare bone. So actually, bird and quirrel do move around on live wires. And the gap inbetween is usually big enough that a dumb squirrel would never touch both negative and positive at once. But they might feel something weird when they are on the wires.
