    I am currently taking Coveram 10mg to treat my high blood pressure. Is it safe to use Inderal 10mg for my tremors at the same time? Should I give up the Coveram? My Doctor said its okay to take both, but just want a second opinion.

    I've made it a mission to watch at least two of your pharm videos every night just for the sake of review.
    As a practicing RN, it's perfect how straight to the point your videos are. Concise but very informative. Please keep this format. 💙
    May I recommend a video comparing different beta blockers and why different certain ones are chosen over others by providers?

    So what are your thoughts about using it for akathisia?
    A horrible side effect from taking antipsychotic and antidepressants medication

    • @NurseRyan
      @NurseRyan  16 дней назад +1

      A quick look online makes it look like Propranolol can be very effective in the treatment of Akathisia! I have not personally seen it used this way, but it definitely looks promising. However, I would always recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist for any actual medical advice, as these videos are meant only for educational purposes! Hope that helps.

      @NurseRyan  2 года назад

      Hi, as far as I am aware, beta-blockers are only available by prescription. Some doctors do prescribe beta-blockers for anxiety, however, anxiety is not one of their intended uses. You could also try speaking to a pharmacist for more information about these drugs, and what some other options could be for you. There are many different types of anti-anxiety medications, most common being benzodiazepines.

    • @NurseRyan
      @NurseRyan  Год назад +1

      Hi, I would recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist about this. They might be able to prescribe an anti-seizure drug like Primidone which is sometimes used to treat tremors. Hope that helps!

    Sir l have question if we block b2 why we say we treat hypertension in one side if we block b1 they decrease blood pressure lf we block beta2 they cause vasoconstriction?

    • @NurseRyan
      @NurseRyan  12 дней назад

      If we block beta-2 we get bronchoconstriction which affects the lungs, not vasoconstriction, which would affect the blood vessels. I hope that helps!

    I was given this cause my heart beat was faster than normal. I am not hypertensive. I was only given to reduce its heart rate. I don't take it everyday which I was instructed to but I really don't want to become dependent on this drug. Any advice?

    • @NurseRyan

      I would definitely recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist for the best information for your case! There can be withdrawal symptoms of you stop taking Propranolol abruptly.

    How would you taper down from 10 mg

    • @NurseRyan
      @NurseRyan  16 дней назад +1

      How you taper can depend on a lot of factors like starting dose, the reason you are taking the medication, other medications you might be taking, and much more. Always talk to your doctor or pharmacist to ensure you are tapering safely!

    Can I exercise while on this drug???

    • @NurseRyan
      @NurseRyan  11 дней назад

      Regular exercise while taking propranolol is typically fine. Be careful not to over exert yourself, and to monitor breathing and heart rate more carefully. Does this cause ED

    • @NurseRyan
      @NurseRyan  Год назад

      There is mixed information online about whether or not Beta-Blockers like Propranolol cause ED. There was a 2003 article that stated, "the knowledge and prejudice about side effects of beta-blockers can produce anxiety, that may cause erectile function."
      However, I would always recommend speaking to your primary healthcare provider or pharmacist for the most up to date information. Hope that helps!

    • @NurseRyan

      I'm sorry to hear that!
      Do keep in mind that all medications have a risk for overdose, and should only ever be taken at the prescribed doses. I would not say that this is Propranolol's fault, because many medications could cause the exact same effect if taken unknowingly, and at extremely high doses. With that said, it is still very unfortunate that this happened. And I always recommend speaking to your primary healthcare provider for any medical concerns!
