The HP Pavilion 15 (2023) Laptop is a very budget friendly device with minimalist features basically geared for a student or a retiree for basic web surfing and email. Having said that, I was surprised by how good the 720p webcam looks as well as the quality of the internal mics and the built in speakers. A 250 nits display will not get very bright but it will do the job at the end of the day. The fact that you can upgrade the RAM and SSD are certainly plusses! I gonna add a couple notes: - to be comfortable for your eyes this screen must have at least 300 nits or much better if it has 400 nits but this is budget model with small battery and in the best way it has 300 - they use light base but instead of using light keyboard much better to use black (good contrast: black keyboard/white base + black screen) - if i would buy this laptop i would install Linux overall - this thing really worth for its price Some extra notes from my side for Pavilion series: check noise level, battery life and heat from the components located under keyboard - in my old one it was serous flaws; no needed special equipment to measure: give it something not too heavy for 10-15 mins and just touch or hear it + check battery status +++ buy the way: winter is coming where is your black leather jacket?
Nice pc for the price. Good keyboard layout. Like the properly laid out and full size numpad. It would have been nice to have darker keys. The light colored keys are a little difficult to see in some lighting conditions. Camera is fair although in this price range it will get the job done. Speakers were okay although they did sound a little flat. Great first looks review. I will be in your neck of the woods visiting family for the Thanksgiving holiday.
I really like HP’s Pavilion Plus 14 series, but this seems alright if you’re really on a budget. I think an older HP Aero 13 might be a better deal than this one though.
I was able to snatch an Acer Swift GO 14" 2.8k OLED 90HZ 16GB LPDDR5 6400mhz with a Ryzen 5 7640u Radeon 760m for $600 Not sure this HP is a good deal in comparison. Love the review as always!
This is value-for-money laptop, especially if it is core 17. One thing I like is the dual charging. Most budget laptops do not have USB C charging. USB C charging is important to me becuase of you have a 65W brick, you don't have to carry along with you the heavy charger. And if you can buy a 65 W or 100 W PD power bank, you will not have any problem on power.
