He was flipped alot in wcw too...started out heel then turned face when nwo came in the scene then joined the nwo then was kicked out of the nwo then joined nwo again
"The Giant" (Paul Wight) was great in WCW. Especially when he was in the "Dungeon of Doom". His athleticism was off the charts. He even climbed on the top rope and dove after Ric Flair! After that it was down hill. WWF/WWE just destroyed him. Anyway, to HELL with Vince. I'm glad that evil circus show is over! And yeah, the WWE is evil.
The dumbest thing they did was have him put over Austin clean on a episode of Raw barely a month into his run. Austin was already Superman at the time, you didn't need him to look stronger.
Yeah Big Show should've been an attraction. He was at times weekly looking weakly. He would cry and always switching sides between heel and face. They made Big Show bump for everybody. Lost his Giant mystique doing that. He was supposed to be a destroyer. WWE messed him up that very first night
I don't remember him ever being dominant. He was always a jobber to the stars. I remember he was booked in a 4 way title match at Mania and was the fist to be eliminated in like 5 minutes.
My favorite Big Show run was his run as the Giant in Wcw. I know he was green back then but he felt special and dangerous and menacing. His look was totally on point as well when he had the long hair and was more fit but still huge. I love his entrance at Hog Wild against Hogan. Michael Buffer announcing him, coming out with the Big Gold and say what you will about the Dungeon of Doom but that music fit his character perfectly at the time. Scary and menacing as hell, like he is going to crush you. Granted i was 12 at the time of that PPV, I went back and watched and I thought it aged well.
They dropped the ball on a lot of big men. Vader losing to HBK should've never happened. It's not believable. I will never understand how they pushed Andre the Giant but other big men that could actually move, weren't pushed.
This was right around the time I started dating my now-wife. I was really into WWE at the time and her son (11/12 at the time) said he used to watch wrestling so we started watching together right around the time this Katie Vick angle happened. 😬😬
I think 2001 and 2002 were rough years because there was no competition to worry about so there wasn't as big a drive to put together stories thst would last. Allso the ego was a big problem we're the best whether it was ok WCW characters are coming in well let's give them a fresh coat of paint because if they were good WCW wouldn't have gone out of business, but how many fans who liked these characters did you turn off because they didn't like the way you booked them. And a lot of what you saw looking back was shock for the shake of shock or the characters you had doing the shock people didn't want to see doing that and the ratings dip was a clear indicator to say, "hey Steve this whole crazy paranoid Steve Austin isn't working, if you want to be a heel let's just have do the ol Stone Cold stuff but to the babyfaces like in 96 and 97 because that would have worked. While not perfect you got better stuff in 2003 but then 2004 happened and I don't think we'd a constant streak of success until 2005.
I always thought WM2000 killed him. He got in great shape, new look, turned heel, had a legit claim at winning the rumble, beat the Rock at No Way Out & then got eliminated in about 5 mins in that 4 way.
I know smoking is “bad”, but seeing Jim smoking on that cigarette and drinking his coffee is awesome. Nicotine and Caffine are the ultimate stimulants and goes to show why hes still so sharp. TV was much better when people could relax, smoke and speak their minds. Its wonderfully human.
5:45 - yeah my parents had to explain things to me during the Attitude & Ruthless aggression era. Wrestlig may have been banned once or twice in the house.
Big Show should’ve been booked like Andre the giant but instead they booked em like a big dummy he literally let everybody pick him up throw em around slam em not to mention he went back and fourth between heel and face every 5 minutes big show should’ve had a much better career
When youre the size of Paul Wight and can move like Paul Wight, it really shouldn't take a whole lot of effort to make him a big star. Can't have guys that big job to every person on the roster, no push is big enough to overcome a monster like Big Show losing to guys like Shane McMahon on the regular.
J.R. "The match intensity is very high now, King. Lots of SEMEN flying around." King: "You know everytime Undertaker is in the ring things get borderline NECROPHILIA."
Big Show should have been booked as an unstoppable monster from the jump, and beating Austin clean when they eventually met. Plus, losing to Austin within a month of his WWE debut was stupid.
Big Show had one of the worst debuts in WWE. On February 14, 1999, tossing Austin through the cage after bursting through the ring and losing to Austin two weeks later. Would've been better to make a shocking debut the night after WrestleMania 15 on Raw attacking Austin with a chockslam through the Announcement table as mysterious new member of Vince McMahon stable ,The Corporation building up a anticipating PPV main event event and more creative ideas to build his character. He would get his big break three years later on Smackdown in the 1st Brand Split in the Ruthless Aggression Era. Being booked as a threatening monster giant in ECW (WWE brand) and title run in 2006 became underrated. In many great matches against RVD, Sabu, Ric Flair, and The Undertaker. Becoming a "Giant" of his own, out of Andre shadow.
They were always going to job out the incoming wcw guy. And it stood out because he was a giant. That's how Vince did business. They gave him proper branding. I thought he was booked rather well... except when they would job him to Benoit.
"You can't overexpose an attraction." Jim hit the nail on the head. Look what happened to Cody Rhodes after 2023. That's why he is not special in WWE anymore.
How Big Show should have been booked. Instead of having him debut in that match with Vince vs Austin find another way to have Austin win via being pushed out of the cage (any big man heel already there could have done this and then Austin beats them on a Raw during the build up to WM15). His debut instead will be the Raw after WM15. Ministry Taker and his minions are battling Shane and the corporation in the ring. (Ministry vs Corp is in effect). Ministry gets the upper hand and Shane is cornered by Taker. Then Shane smiles and snaps his fingers. Then a light is shown towards the crowd and it is on the Big Show walking towards the ring from the crowd. (Seeing how large he is compared to crowd members helps build it up). Show gets to the ring outside and easily throws a few ministry guys to the ground and then steps over the top rope to enter. Taker has an "oh sh!t who is this big MF?" look. Show manhandles Taker and slams him around. Taker is down for a moment. The other ministry guys step in and Show successfully removes them all from the ring leaving Taker alone. Taker gets up only to be choke slammed through the ring (I know they did this later but it would be huge to do it as a debut). Show stands above the ring hole and does the knife to throat motion Taker does. Shane claps and the other Corp guys look in amazement. The other ministry guys run off. Then it is Taker vs Show at Backlash and Show wins clean. A huge win story wise. "Who can stop the Big Show?" Next night Show sets his sights on Austin after Austin vs Rock part 2. Attacks Austin starting their feud. Show destroys him each time on the build up. Even beats Austin in a non title match once. Austin will win on the PPV over Show but has to crawl out of the ring completely battered afterwards. That is how Show would have been viewed as a legit threat to Austin. Even if Austin beats him it not only would help Austin's aura of overcoming things but would make Show look like a legit monster. Instead of Show facing Mankind which did not do much for either guy as Mankind did not need it, getting beat by Austin on a throw away match on Raw involving Mankind. Show being shortly built as an Undertaker threat but then ending up being Undertaker's b!ch. Then later having that feud with Bossman no one cared about. To ending 99 as being fodder for HHH.
@@BulletBill-yb3ti It'd have likely been more interesting than debuting him with The Corporation anyway. They really had no one available for that role, which ruined that entire storyline. Paul Wight could've been automatically believable as being above Undertaker just due to his size. Plus, he had hair they could have dyed black. But no, obviously Vince just wanted to rush him on to television to jab at WCW and likely didn't care about protecting Paul's character because he was with WCW before WWF. If WWF acquired Paul in 1995-1996 as planned, they'd have taken much better care of him.
@@Snarka09 Maybe if he joins Taker right away he can crush the Corporation on Raws and then beat Kane clean in his first PPV match. Kane was teasing going back with Taker at this time. After losing to Show, Taker gets on the mic and tells Kane "you have been replaced as the monster around here. The true brothers of destruction begins now!" Either way he should have been booked as a credible threat to Austin even if Austin eventually wins out. Austin finally takes Show down and then Show and Taker can feud because Taker blames Show for why Austin is still on top. At that point Kane come back into the picture to help Show put Taker out (so he can rest up and come back as American BA). It just felt like a waste to have him feud with Mankind first, then with Taker and Kane a bit but then not long after that become Taker's sidekick. Once Taker left Show was given the belt but only to end up as a prop for HHH.
It's crazy this video is supposed to be about Big Show but all we get is 95 percent lesbian and necrophilia talk. Wouldn't have watched and wasn't 10 minutes of my life if I had known the video was mostly crap.
They got 20 years out of him being an upper carder and occasional main eventer. While they didn't do everything right with Big Show, I'd say overall, they did great with him.
I remember when WWE did that Katie Vick/Kane video piece in the funeral home, my dad immediately turned off the tv & banned WWE for a while. Such a dumb storyline
Big show was a big disappointment, wwe couldn't figure out what to do with him and big show got out of shape and sloppy for awhile. He should've been a top draw for 15 years, instead of a mid level jobber.
Vince was the reason wwe is the spectacle that it is. But he had a lot of errors and ridiculous ideas. He steered so much away from competition and tried too hard to tangle with the entertainment aspect. Like trying to turn WWE into SNL with tights. The fact that Big Show was in a diaper. One of the worst bits I’ve ever seen. Emasculating, stupid, embarrassing and pathetic. Also, Tensai being demoted and then wearing a lingerie. Smh. I’m glad Vince’s outlandish ideas will never appear on WWE programming. It’s too bad it took sex trafficking to keep him away when he should have retired a long time ago.
Pretty much my POV when everyone complained about WWE going PG. Preferred the PG era way more than this period where Vince and co were throwing shit at the wall trying to shock everyone.
Flipping him between face and heel every five minutes certainly didn't help, Show should have had a fifteen year run at the top.
He was flipped alot in wcw too...started out heel then turned face when nwo came in the scene then joined the nwo then was kicked out of the nwo then joined nwo again

The dumbest thing they did was have him put over Austin clean on a episode of Raw barely a month into his run. Austin was already Superman at the time, you didn't need him to look stronger.

Who the hell is Junior?
Who is Junior?
Jr fellas... Jr =junior... keep up
@MarkofaMadman but his name is Jim Ross also known as JR. He's not a Junior. Calling him junior makes no sense. Damn idiots can't comprehend

Having him throw Austin through the cage at Saint Valentine's massacre wasn't the issue. It was the rest of the s*** that was awful after all that
Yea he should have been in the kane taker King Kong category especially in his prime
WWE never had good enough angles or storylines to get the Big Show over.
really?? what about taker taking him to the desert and left him 😝😝😝
WCW treated Big Show correctly.
