    I was at Martinsville when Kenseth took Logano out; it's no exaggeration to say that the entire speedway (minus the handful of Logano fans) were on our feet cheering. The more often they showed the replay on the jumbotrons, the louder we got. Still my favorite day at Martinsville. Joey had it coming because he hit Kenseth going INTO the turn at Kansas. If you're going to do a bump and run, you do it on the straights or coming OFF the turn.

    These 2 almost had a little dust up in 2016 at Talladega, when Joey Logano kinda forced Matt Kenseth below the double yellow line. These 2 eventually got caught up in a wreck, and Matt Kenseth went upside down. After that, Matt Kenseth pointed at Joey Logano at the infield care center telling Joey to straighten up and do better (he didn't actually say that, but I just interpret).

    my biggest problem wasn't with Kenseth or Logano, but Nascar. They've always let drivers police themselves. They allowed a mad Jeff Gordon a few years before in the playoffs, who wasn't on the lead lap by the way, take out and intentionally wreck Clint Bowyer. Clint was going to be going to Homestead with a chance to win the title, before Gordon paid him back. Guess how many races Gordon got suspended? NONE, ZERO. ZIP. Too many people show up to watch Jeff Gordon, not Matt Kenseth. They never should've suspended him for two races.

      I don't know why people look down upon Matt's 2003 Championship. He only won Las Vegas, but still deserved the Championship. His consistency was unreal that year. It's easier to count his none top 10 finishes then his top 10's. NASCAR's current system that awards winning isn't prefect either. Depends on what you mean by wrong. What he did wasn't illegal. I see nothing wrong with racing that way as long as you have no issue being raced that way back. The problem is Joey does have an issue with being raced hard. You have to earn respect on the track by giving it. Where Joey lost respect was when he just couldn't own his style of racing. Every incident he plays like he is a victim standing up for himself. He seems to think that other drivers just need to accept it and move on and that payback shouldn't be returned to him. Kenseth said it best in an interview before this incident. On the track you have to give and take. Joey is a guy who goes around demanding respect, but never gives it back.

  • @fido139

    The lesson here is one should not block someone who is faster. IMHO Blocking should be against the rules. Joey did what any other driver would do, bumping and banging is just part of racing FFS. Furthermore he DID NOT WRECK Kenseth. ALL blocking should end up in the wall, where so much of it does. Joey IS the better driver, he just IS. I used to like Kenseth, until he turned into an *SS. Glad he no longer races. You know where the double standards are? When D.E. Sr. punted anyone into the wall, it was excepted and cheered. That was ALL well and good back then. 🙄

  • @matthewmclaughlin9425

    So as a Joey Logano fan I am going to call you out on saying Joey didn't need to win. Roger Penske pays Joey to win. Not win on occasion or win when you have to, just win everyday. If he goes out and lays back he is not doing his job and deserves to be fired. Also, Joey never wrecked Kenseth at Kansas, he spun him out because he blocked him. On to Talladega, yes Joey cut him off, no doubt about it but it caused no major strife so there was no issue. At Martinsville, Kenseth was out and during the race, Keselowski got loose... no team orders. Again Matt is out, so he should leave the playoffs alone. He didnt spin him out, or move him like Joey did, he wrecked him and gave him one of the hardest hits of the Gen 6 car at Martinsville. Now by the laws of NASCAR, Joey has done nothing wrong but Kenseth clearly takes him out which would result in no personal gain to his career. In Matt's defense, He is allowed to be upset that he was spun by Joey at Kansas, and wrecked by Keselowski at Martinsville but personally I believe it is only fair to wreck another driver is when you are in true contention to advance or win a race (like what Harvick tried with Busch last year at Martinsville I believe or what Joey did to MTJ in 2018. In Joey's defense, spinning Kenseth was to help him get a points cushion and as you know in these playoffs, every point matters).
    I am not going to try and force you to see my opinion because I don't care what you think because arguments like these are biased no matter how you try to be impartial, but in the eyes of NASCAR, one driver did nothing wrong according to the rules but one did and that resulted in a suspension. I have also realized that people are quick to jump down Joey's throat for most times defending himself. or fighting back like Darrell Waltrip said on that broadcast almost 10 years ago. At Joe Gibbs they treated him like dirt. When he moved to Penske and grew a back bone people still attacked him but got upset that he fought back. Case in point, Bristol 2013, Hamlin purposely spins Logano and later at Auto Club when Logano and Hamlin are racing hard Logano gets loose and collects Hamlin, along with some previous blocking with Tony Stewart (which is legal) and somehow Logano gets turned into the bad guy because he chose to do what Roger Penske paid him to do. Go for the win. The Kenseth debacle was also a retaliation on Logano's part because he was at least 10mph faster than Kenseth and he still chose to block which put Logano into the wall. There are even more races where Joey gets provoked first and then he retaliates and gets the blame for it.
    In my opinion, NASCAR needs more drivers like Logano, aggressive fast drivers who are not afraid to do what it takes to get the win because that it what they are paid to do. You want to see clean racing, go to an open wheel motorsport event like Indy or F1 but fenders and bumpers are used in NASCAR for a reason. The reason I say this is Joey himself said if a driver was to use the bumper on him, he would be upset but he understand that is how racing works. Earnhardt did all this and worse but he is still revered and nicknamed "The Intimidator" but Logano is nicknamed a child who uses daddy's money like 90 of those white men didn't get money from their fathers to put them in a race car and drive and do the same thing for their children. So yeah I don't side with Kenseth, never have and never will. If you think Joey deserved that, you are asinine.

    • @Demise90Racing
      @Demise90Racing  2 года назад +5

      Yes I said Joey didn't need to win, but I also explained that if he showed a little more patience and thought of the bigger picture he still may of ended up winning Kansas as he had a faster car at that time of the race. At Martinsville I pretty much agreed with what you said, and it would of been a completely different story if they were running for position. I don't understand though how you defend Joey spinning Matt cause every point matters. In 2015 it didn't matter. 2015 had no stage points, no playoff points, and no bonus points for winning. Every driver started the next round equally no matter how many wins you had and Joey already won the previous week to lock himself in the next round. All Joey had to do was show up to Kansas and park the car after the first lap and it would of made zero difference in points.
      I don't think you are trying to enforce your opinion on anyone or trying to start a argument. It is possibly to have a civil discussion on the internet sometimes, although it's a rarity these days lol. Those other situations involving Joey I would have to agree with you. Especially the scuffle with Tony, Joey didn't do anything wrong.
      In terms of you talking about clean racing, I don't know where that came from, because I never said I didn't like guys knocking each other out of the way. These are the types of moments that I love in NASCAR. I love when guys run each other over out there and get into it after the race. Matt wouldn't of done what he did if Joey did a better job by deescalating the situation by reaching out to Matt, and I stand by that opinion.
      I really appreciate you taking the time to comment Matthew. Thank you.

The only cool thing about this was I got to see Jeff Gordon’s final win live in person.. in the dark. Also Martinsville got lights due to this and the damage vehicle policy became a thing. Never mess with the good guys, because they are day and light, no shades of gray..Grip ins asphalt is the same, you have it, or you do not. Logano and his team mate made that mistake, and karma rained. But I know Logano got the message. His bad deeds took him out from the final.

    NASCAR had all the opportunity to dissolve this situation between Matt and Joey. From what I gather, that never happened. It didn't take rocket science to see they had issues ongoing and that something that eventually happened at Martinsville could have happened. They let it boil over. And, honestly, while NASCAR played it off like they were disappointed that it happened, I wouldn't be a bit surprised that they secretly wanted something like this to happen. Imagine the storyline and ratings. Well, they got the storyline, at least.

    If Logano had not wrecked Kenseth at Kansas, I'm confident that he would have won his first championship that year. Logano was angry after the Martinsville wreck. You could see it in his face but if you look closely, I'm pretty sure he was wishing he could have just let it go at Kansas and raced to the end without dumping Kenseth. I think people forget that the Kansas race was very important to Kenseth's playoff survival -- hence why he raced Logano so hard -- while it was a meaningless race to Logano for the playoffs.

He wanted to win that race. I get angry when a slow driver is in front of me and I'm not even racing for money or prestige. But I do think his desire to win that race by any means probably cost him a championship that year. That was my only point. It's a shame all of that transpired.
