When we fished back in da day, I threw a 7’4” Heavy Mod Fast. Unbelievable.
Plus they don’t eat a swim jig 😉

Do you cut back or thin out the weed guard on the jig?

Used to throw same jig switch to the mobster best jig I have seen for grass and reeds. Try it. Keep up the rod reviews going to start switching over.
