      Yeah I can't believe they just put that stupid little stack over the hole and called it good. Having a background in construction, I can tell you anything painted orange and white is like a magnet for some people to come and mess with. So it's very possible if not outright expected that someone would one day come and remove the stack and leave a manhole with boiling water below unprotected. Should have been a grate at the very least if they couldn't have kept the original cover on it.

      If I were a victim like that and went straight to heaven where I was welcomed with open arms, I would be filled with questions rather than relieved and overjoyed. I would ask "Where were YOU when I was screaming for mercy???" ... When someone close the manhole cover? What were you doing when you saw that happen, or knew---as of course you did because you know everything-- about to happen to me?? Nothing happens in this universe without Your permission and approval. Why did you let that happen to me, if You and your Son love me!!??"

    • @bradsanders407
      @bradsanders407 23 дня назад +4

      Yeah but all the eye witnesses told a different story. So one says "don't let them tell you different" is cause to declare his story the correct one? Statements like that are usually said after a lie to sell the lie.

    • @RoganBits
      @RoganBits 22 дня назад

      @@bradsanders407 Can see it going both ways. Agree with you though; sometimes said by liars; but it's also said by people who are telling the truth, but also feel like they won't be believed.
      When I had my identity stolen the cops told me I was lying to them because I wouldn't make much eye contact. I just don't make eye contact; probably on spectrum, but it cost me 20,000; and they legit refused to look at the evidence as fact; and instead based their decision on me making eye contact.
      Do you know how ridiculous that is when you're telling the truth? It sucks, and there's more to that story, they did worse, but point is they based their conclusion not on the bank statements and video evidence, but on eye contact....
      The kicker? It's pretty well known people who make eye contact tend to be lying. According to one study, liars showed more eye contact deliberately than truthtellers, whereas gaze aversion did not differ between truth-tellers and lie-tellers.
      It's why you can't take one identifier and make any conclusion. Need clusters; and you can't have your mind made up before looking at the clusters. Even then; abnormalities exist; and you actually need a baseline for each person you look into.

    I was a paramedic in downtown Manhattan for 24 years. I was working that night, and I can say for certain as an eyewitness that there was no vent stack covering that or any of the several other manholes ConEd had opened in the area that night, and the steam was so thick that I couldn't even tell where it was coming from. The open manholes didn't even have sawhorse barricades around them. They started appearing piecemeal between the time of the incident and sunrise that morning. I don't know about the rest, but the vent stack story is just ConEd covering their a**es to protect themselves from a potential lawsuit.

    There's too many cases like this. Where cops make snap judgements and don't bother really digging into what happened because it's the easiest way to close a case. The ones who didn't get murdered were drunk, therefore Kyle must have been too. The fact that newspapers will just run with false info tainting cases and cementing that further in investigators' minds whether they want to admit that or not. Funny how all the witnesses that night had the same story, a story that was different from Keith's, but the people that re supposed to protect us just chose to take Keith's side as gospel because....why? He said it three times in a row? If that's all it takes to get away with murder.........
    Sorry. This case is jusr personal to me. No, I did not know Kyle, but I had a friend exactly like him that was murdered by his GF when she was "drunk" and "didn't remember". Nevermind the fact that she would literally pull knives on him, threaten him with a shotgun, come after us if we were at their house hanging out and someone said something she took waaayyyyy out of proportion. She knew what she was doing, she did it all the time, but it was easier to believe that she was this poor little girl that just got drunk and didn't remember. She stood over him and watched him bleed out.

      His family asked for privacy. No pictures. And my understanding is the author of the book that was spoken about in the beginning...she was the one who did post mortems and changed names of the people she did autopsies on, for her book. That's how they got referred to as different names. Both Kyle and his murderer were given aliases for the book and then were referred to by those names elsewhere when people spoke about them. It really is VERY SIMPLE. They want to protect people's privacy by changing names and NOT get sued!

I truly hope they pick up his case again. I honestly hope the family files a few lawsuits against the state, police, street department, and whoever else for slander, misinformation, and whatever else they can think of. It may not go anywhere, but I've learned the more heat you put on these departments, the better chance of them actually doing more, Then maybe his case would be solved and the family will finally get what they actually want justice..

Your extreme intricate style of introducing each story not only makes the history of each neighborhood a glimpse view of what once was but gives a real time stamp of what exactly took place. Each story has great inside details and what an amazing way of taking us back and present to what each situation felt. I'm grateful for these stories cause most of them I was not only a kid but I remember them with vivid memories. Especially the 1993 massacre in el barrio which was my neighbors family.
