- In December of 2002, a driven, well liked young man from Ohio lost his life on the streets of New York City, in what was thought to be a horrible accident. As investigations unfolded, it would seem there was much more to this story.
So sad. The narrator and owner of this channel did a great job of describing Kyle as a person who lived and not just as a victim. What a terrible and torturous death he suffered.
Agree
I so agree he's not so blah he brings a more gentler side to the tragedy the victim losing there lives
There has to be some award you are eligible for. You never cease to amaze me with the manner in which you navigate these horrific stories with compassion and respect. Keep doing what you are doing. Thanks for being the voice for those who never had a chance. 🙏🏽
Thank you so much for that compliment. I really appreciate it!
Well said.

Yes - he is an incredible narrator, eloquent and respectful
As a Native New Yorker from the Bronx, I have to say Thank You for humanizing these cases. You have a kind heart and are not only empathetic to these terrible crimes, but sympathetic to those involved and their families. Traits that somehow, over the years, have been lost to some.
I wish you much success in your podcast endeavors and continued blessings for your future

The gentleman narrating the stories has a comforting voice even while delivering something horrible.
Ive had a steam burn on my finger and i know how bad that hurts i cannot imagine what he went thru. This one made my stomach hurt.
I burned my eyeball with a curling iron!
One of the worst, off the charts, pain in my life!
And I've fallen off a cliff and been hit head on, on the highway! 👀
Actually the burn to my chest, when I was a waitress, was pretty bad too!
Fresh hot coffee!
I've got a broken toe, since falling on the ice in January, and I'd much rather deal with that than another burn!
I had a burn on my finger because of the toaster.
I just got burned from cooking oil. I didn’t wash it off and it slowly cooked my skin for 2 hours until I ran more water on it and neosporin. I can still feel the pain and can only on a small scale feel how Kyle felt, to be boiled alive for hours is an awful way to go.
Absolutely horrendous, pain on another level @@misszee007
Amen, RIP Kyle. How awful. Keith got away with murder. It seems to me that no manhole should ever be left unattended when there is boiling water beneath. Water boils at 212F, that water was 300F. That poor man, what an horrific way to die.
Beyond awful 😖
Yeah I can't believe they just put that stupid little stack over the hole and called it good. Having a background in construction, I can tell you anything painted orange and white is like a magnet for some people to come and mess with. So it's very possible if not outright expected that someone would one day come and remove the stack and leave a manhole with boiling water below unprotected. Should have been a grate at the very least if they couldn't have kept the original cover on it.
I can't even imagine the pain he was in. Condolences to his loved ones and may Kyle RIP🙏
If I were a victim like that and went straight to heaven where I was welcomed with open arms, I would be filled with questions rather than relieved and overjoyed. I would ask "Where were YOU when I was screaming for mercy???" ... When someone close the manhole cover? What were you doing when you saw that happen, or knew---as of course you did because you know everything-- about to happen to me?? Nothing happens in this universe without Your permission and approval. Why did you let that happen to me, if You and your Son love me!!??"
@@myfirstnamemylastname2994This is the most heartbreaking comment
THERE are some very evil people out in society. You have to be careful and keep your head on alert.
Of all the witnesses, the one that said don’t let them tell you anything else seems like he knows exactly what he saw and heard
Yeah but all the eye witnesses told a different story. So one says "don't let them tell you different" is cause to declare his story the correct one? Statements like that are usually said after a lie to sell the lie.
@@bradsanders407 Can see it going both ways. Agree with you though; sometimes said by liars; but it's also said by people who are telling the truth, but also feel like they won't be believed.
When I had my identity stolen the cops told me I was lying to them because I wouldn't make much eye contact. I just don't make eye contact; probably on spectrum, but it cost me 20,000; and they legit refused to look at the evidence as fact; and instead based their decision on me making eye contact.
Do you know how ridiculous that is when you're telling the truth? It sucks, and there's more to that story, they did worse, but point is they based their conclusion not on the bank statements and video evidence, but on eye contact....
The kicker? It's pretty well known people who make eye contact tend to be lying. According to one study, liars showed more eye contact deliberately than truthtellers, whereas gaze aversion did not differ between truth-tellers and lie-tellers.
It's why you can't take one identifier and make any conclusion. Need clusters; and you can't have your mind made up before looking at the clusters. Even then; abnormalities exist; and you actually need a baseline for each person you look into.
a real new yorker
@@bradsanders407 Different stories but what they all have in common is a fight between the two with Keith as the aggressor.
@@eonianomega 💯% Ad unless he admits what happened and sincerely REPENTS - he will soon face the ultimate JUDGE!!
I was a paramedic in downtown Manhattan for 24 years. I was working that night, and I can say for certain as an eyewitness that there was no vent stack covering that or any of the several other manholes ConEd had opened in the area that night, and the steam was so thick that I couldn't even tell where it was coming from. The open manholes didn't even have sawhorse barricades around them. They started appearing piecemeal between the time of the incident and sunrise that morning. I don't know about the rest, but the vent stack story is just ConEd covering their a**es to protect themselves from a potential lawsuit.
and there it is.
Good lord there is nothing more painful then a steam burn. Like you said, it doesn't damage the nerve endings like a burn does. I can't imagine how Kyle suffered. Rip Kyle.
O0😊😊😊
Absolutely horrific way to go. Damn
This case should definitely be reopened. What ever happened to the girlfriend? Surely, at some point, she must have realized how dangerous Keith is. Maybe she'll talk now.
I’ve never met a Keith that wasn’t a dirtbag, that’s an actual fact. I’m sure there’s a decent Keith out there somewhere, but he hasn’t crossed my path.
@@davemccage7918I know a few nice Keith's
So....this man was never charged? Not even for manslaughter?
How horrific. God bless his family 😢

Or negligent homicide… something?!
Hopefully this story can be updated with a picture of Kyle, so he can be more properly remembered. I appreciate your great storytelling.
I was actually born & raised in Holland, Ohio & I remember when this happened. I personally didn’t know him, but I heard that his family believed that it was murder. Holland is a small community & news travels fast! The whole community was heartbroken. As always, you did a fantastic job covering this unfortunate case. Thank you for sharing it with the rest of the world!
I love the beginning where you say "get to know these people before the grief". It is so true we are different people once we have lost a son, brother, nephew 😢😢 and we will never be the same person again 💔 thankyou for your empathy and love ❤️
My native New Yorker here in the Bronx gotta say, you're a gem for humanizing the victims. Because I listen to so much true crime podcasts, I've become detached from most of them but you made me feel heartbroken for Kyle.
Thank you for reminding me that these are real and everyday people who have gone through something awful, life-changing, and sometimes life-ending.
That poor, poor man - words honestly fail me at how much pain he must have endured. Horrific.
Some people die in such horrific ways. Its so unfair 😭
I dont understand WHY someone couldnt make a loop hole on the end of a rope and send it down so Kyle could have put it around him and then been lifted out??? How horrific that poor kid must have felt when NOONE WAS HELPING HIM!! Help was there but noonee offered any kind of solution and just listened to this kids CRIES OF HELP for so many hours!
Exactly omg

Truly hope so. Thank you for that!
You speak for victims and their families better than just about every other creator I’ve ever seen. I salute you for the fact you tell stories about us and our people. If you read the comments each video I’m sure you’ve seen at least one direct, personal connection between the story and some commenter’s life. That is as raw as it gets and since every story doesn’t get the exposure it may deserve, the fact you give voice to the voiceless is commendable. Salute brother, rooting for you in all ways. 💯
-definetly ... !-
The way you show compassion for the victims in your videos should be taught in courses around the world!! You channel is how a True Crime channel should be. Showing care and compassion for the victims. RIP Kyle McGarity. You will not be forgotten!!
Your kindness and integrity covering these cases keeps me coming back! Well, and the voice 🌺

Great way of covering this story. You did an excellent job telling everyone who Kyle was. You tell your stories with such passion. Thank you for sharing the truth about what really happen to this young man.
You need to be on network tv 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

In time! Lol thank you for the kind words!
@@EvilIntentions Seriously, you would rival John Walsh on America's Most Wanted! Being that this is the age of social media, your show gets more attention than his anyway!

I disagree. Stay out of the mainstream. 25 years ago maybe would have been fine. But now it's insane with woke and political and scam agendas etc. Eventually pressure will come to do or say wrong or unethical things. Remain as an independent journalist, the new frontier.
I'm so sorry for what happened to Kyle and my heart goes out to his family. Keith was definitely not a friend; he is a murderer who should've been charged and sent to prison. The police did a poor job on this case.
How could something so horrible happen to this beautiful natured guy, and to have no justice for his killing.
😭💔
Thank you for sharing this with us. Love and Respect to you. ❤
Thank you for sharing the story with compassion and facts. It's upsetting that Kyle didn't receive justice.
I can't believe the guy got away with it! That's unbelievable, and a true injustice for him and his family! Oh and the story done by that show did a terrible job of explaining the whole story. I believe you did a great job explaining who he was and exactly what took place that night, another great video on your part!
There's too many cases like this. Where cops make snap judgements and don't bother really digging into what happened because it's the easiest way to close a case. The ones who didn't get murdered were drunk, therefore Kyle must have been too. The fact that newspapers will just run with false info tainting cases and cementing that further in investigators' minds whether they want to admit that or not. Funny how all the witnesses that night had the same story, a story that was different from Keith's, but the people that re supposed to protect us just chose to take Keith's side as gospel because....why? He said it three times in a row? If that's all it takes to get away with murder.........
Sorry. This case is jusr personal to me. No, I did not know Kyle, but I had a friend exactly like him that was murdered by his GF when she was "drunk" and "didn't remember". Nevermind the fact that she would literally pull knives on him, threaten him with a shotgun, come after us if we were at their house hanging out and someone said something she took waaayyyyy out of proportion. She knew what she was doing, she did it all the time, but it was easier to believe that she was this poor little girl that just got drunk and didn't remember. She stood over him and watched him bleed out.
Wowwwwwww!! I’m so sorry that happened to your friend and trust that girl will get her karma!! That ain’t right!! My prayers are with you and his family and friends and any and everyone affected!! Just heartbreaking!!💔 💔🙏🏾
@dompbrown5293 Thanks, appreciate it. She only got 4 years. And it happened almost 20 years ago so even without good behavior she's long released. His name was Jeremy Kosner and it happened in Fairmont, West Virginia. Her name is Amber something. I think it starts with an O and has a Z in it, but tbch I dgaf about her enough to remember her last name. He was always so nice and gentle. Funny. Fun to be around. Always let me in his home when I was with an a hole and was trying to get away. Even tho my bf was his friend and was just the gf of his friend, you know? He was just such a good human being. And Amber was always very much not. Even if she wasn't drunk, she was miserable and no one liked her. I had already left WV by the time of his murder, but I got a call from my ex telling me "Hey. So Kosner died." And the first words out of my mouth were "Amber killed him, didn't she?" Sorry for rambling to a stranger on the internet, this case just brought up memories........
My condolences ❤
@@amypanddirtytoo1926 that's terrible I'm sorry that happened to your friend. It happens way too often.

Exactly! This is why I am a loner. I don't hang out with anyone, because I don't trust anyone. This is definitely a painful story to hear. That horrific human being got away with this brutal murder.
So move into solitude so you don't suffer the 1 in a quadrillion chance your buddy throws you down a manhole which has boiling waist deep water? That's rational.
Yeah stay alert and observe your surroundings, keep your opinions to yourself with strangers lest they get triggered, wear semi-filtered glasses so you can look where you need to look but still have eye contact with others, and especially do not keep your head and face looking down on a phone screen while in public places.
Doesn’t sound like a mystery to me sounds like he threw the man in there clearly from witness accounts

I live in Jersey and have been to Manhattan many times. I never thought about the steam rising from the manhole covers. Can anyone tell me what the purpose of having boiling water in these channels under the streets? Also, thank you for covering this story, Kyle seemed like a nice young man. I’ve only been following you for a few months since your channel popped up on my home page, but I’m enjoying your content and your voice and tone are perfect for these types of stories. Thank you for bringing them to our attention. ❤
The steam is mainly for heating and cooling buildings throughout Manhattan. It also provides the humidity for museums.
It’s a steam manhole and when it rains water gets in them. Some manholes have stagnant water thats been in there for years. Although it does have water in them the rain and other factors add to the amount that is in the manholes. I hope I explained that for you. ❤

Thank you for bringing us Kyles story. Why is there no photo of him , there must HighSchool photos is this what you meant by changing names ? This is a very sad story.
Probably out of respect for his family. It was stated that they asked the press not to use his image. To no avail.
His family asked for privacy. No pictures. And my understanding is the author of the book that was spoken about in the beginning...she was the one who did post mortems and changed names of the people she did autopsies on, for her book. That's how they got referred to as different names. Both Kyle and his murderer were given aliases for the book and then were referred to by those names elsewhere when people spoke about them. It really is VERY SIMPLE. They want to protect people's privacy by changing names and NOT get sued!
What a sad story. May he rest in peace.

There once was a time when seeing, hearing, reading about something like this shocked me, being a naïve kid back then I really thought there was a level cap on the evil humans are capable of..by time I hit 16 that faith in humanity had almost completely eroded..23 years later misanthropy is something I'll never completely rid myself of and though I've known about this for years, as pretty much always Jose finds details I never heard of, no matter how familiar i am with the story, as always I appreciate u taking the time to make these videos for us man and for bringing to light to many victims who are forgotten or who have never received the recognition they deserve and u always give them respect that always rings sincere to me unlike the countless others that place Money and Fame above Respect For The Victims
