I agree with you there, I have been aggravated with CPS off and on for the stupidest stuff. Usually because someone else had a stick up their butt and made up lies. So, knock, knock it’s a social worker coming to check up on the house cleanliness, food in the house and water in house. But, they ignore the truth of abused and neglected children. It’s sad and ridiculous how they work.

I watched the trial of Gabriel Hernandez and I bawled for at least a week. I'd be at work and just burst out into tears. I couldn't get the brutal details out of my head. These poor, innocent babies, who never get to know what it feels to be truly loved. It just breaks my heart into a million pieces. 💔
I believe any type of child abuse is the worst crime that can ever be committed. Anyone that commits abuse against a child should never be around another child in any capacity.
Hospital staff, friends, family, and neighbors all knew what was going on with these demonic parents, and yet, no one reported these ignorant parents' horrific abuse! Every agency failed these children and specifically the case workers at CPS! I am from New York and I remember hearing about this sad case! Why do people like this continue to have children that they then abuse them all over and over? All of the individuals involved in this case should be placed under prison!
Those caseworkers should be REQUIRED to stand in and watch every moment of those autopsy’s which they were partly responsible for! They should be required to be the ones to take the notes showing EVERY SINGLE mark found on those children’s little bodies, realizing they were the ones who were responsible for stopping it!
Have you ever known any CPS case workers? That wouldn't phase the ones who do this. They are as bad as the parents that hurt their children. They are like numb and disassociated and do not care. I've seen a CPS office full of like little girls. It was like a sorority or something it was not pleasant. I've had CPS smiling at me while on some of the worst days of my life. And no I was not the abuser and I would never hurt my children it was somebody else but it was still so shocking and they were just smiling and it was so sick. I've had CPS and have reported things and have witness their absolute lack of care for children and they are absolute sociopaths. They just don't care

I’m a family lawyer and I’m finding that child protection workers harass families over stupid petty stuff but when third parties such as teachers call because kids are covered with bruises they do absolutely nothing. If little girls have repeated vaginal infections and they say that daddy is touching them the workers still do nothing.
It's not just their responsibility to protect " our babies" . You can protect them best by not having them with the men you all pick or not having them at all when you can't afford them.

Adam's life takers deserved life in prison without parole, they don't even deserve to breathe air! What happened to this precious child was evil! I am in school gaining my BS in Human Services (social worker). Every week I read something or hear something in court. It's scary because one person can't change an entire f'd up system. I don't want to forget one child dealing with another. Over/under look this situation because I have 10 other situations. I know this is where I am supposed to be (God told me). Helping these babies out of the same exact situations my siblings and I grew up in. I don't want to be that worker that fails one of these children simply because there's so many that need help. I pray that I'll do the best work that I can. Even when it's not my case(s) because no child should be left/forgotten about in situations like this. We need to rebuild that village when we all stood together as one for these/OUR babies
No one has ever covered this case here outside of oprah (where I first heard this). She was outraged herself. The family member who saw the abuse it did not do much to stop it. These people were monsters indeed. This was a hard case to listen to.
When a parent has experienced and suffered similar abuse to that they are subjecting their own child too its somehow even more horrific and even harder to comprehend. RIP poor Adam ❤
I don't understand that if a parent went through that kind of abuse as a child, wouldn't you think that "I'm never going to put my own children through the same thing" would kick in somewhere? I think a lot of times when people are in the welfare system they keep having babies just for the money. Cruel I know to say that but look at how many one parent homes suffer abuse? Our government has caused a tremendous amount of these problems. So many people would have loved to take the children, love, care & provide for them. We are living in a sick society.
Honestly, I think when a lot of people grow up in a toxic and abusive household, they become so desensitized to the toxicity and abuse and as they become adults and have children, the cycle continues unfortunately. I see it with people within my family. You may have a few people within a family that has the ability to become resilient; however, it’s most of the time coming with starting completely over and going low or no contact with your family. When people grow up in certain situations you become used to it to where it oftentimes seem normal. It takes a lot to break out of what you’re used to unfortunately.
Exactly! I was abused and the last thing I would ever do is put my children through the same thing. I do not understand the "cycle of abuse" where the abused becomes the abuser.

Just found out that Peter died by suicide. His mother and father is the reason behind it and I hope they suffer when it's their time to go. They put them kids through hell. And to know they're both out is mind boggling to me. What kind of world we live in where kids can't even grow up with love and peace. i know seriously ! what gets me is how violent people are, thinking that hitting, slapping, whuppins etc. will teach a kid. and yet you have countries, many of them, actually, that have completely outlawed physical punishment, and yet , unlike here in the US, these countries have a much lower crime rates, much lower violence rates, school / academic performance is higher, families are over all a bit more stable than ours tends to be.

I remember reading about this years ago and nothing much has changed. It might even have been a documentary. In many states and countries such things are still happening and each have their own outstanding cases, but nothing much has changed. Horrific cases are still ongoing even though departments say they will learn from the mistakes made so they don't happen again. They do keep happening again though, over and over and over. Caseworkers and their managers need to be held accountable.

My heart lifted when you said that Keith and his brother put the brakes on the wheel of abuse. Being a victim of sexual, or physical abuse does not mean that you need to continue it on your own children. I know because that was the way I was brought up. I promised that if I ever had children that I would love them and protect them. I did just that. I have two daughters who are now 41 and 33. I love them. I have 8 grandchildren. They are always here. They love staying with my husband and I. I cried when I heard the torture and pain afflicted on little children who had no chance to defend themselves from monsters. Using the EXCUSE of childhood abuse, is just that a excuse not a reason. The death of Adam was his escape from the existence of terror, starvation and cruelty that no one deserves to live through. I hope that the hell these disgusting bastards go to after this life is extra hot. There should have been no mercy or release for either of them. You always show empathy and compassion in your videos. Thank you for bringing the names of those little children to light. People who have a heart can light a candle and remember the victims of monsters.

"He would be forced to sit on the toilet for hours" reminds me of my childhood living with religious fanatic relatives. They took me in from malnourishment and sexual exploitation at 5 yrs old to "save me" thru weird rituals and habits like that. It feels like a silent kind of suffering because, rather than being beaten and having marks to show that people believe--or have possibly experienced themselves--your stories just revolve around things like being left alone at the table for hours to hold food in my mouth if i wouldn't/couldn't swallow it (i had to be reminded to chew), standing in front of my parents wearing a diaper and using it in front of them to "prove what a baby i was" if i wet the bed, reading my journals out loud to confess my sexual sins/being audio-video recorded surreptitiously around the house when the parents were gone... It's easy to talk about the sexual stuff, but talking about the weird-*ss humiliating stuff makes a person feel like a true outcast, like nobody else COULD understand. It's a tragic life, even before the murder is heaped on top. So many generationally broken families...
I had to sit in the toilet for hours too. Also had to sit at the table for hours because my mother would fill my plate with too much food on purpose. I was beaten and kept isolated and used as a slave .
I know this won’t help, but I am very sorry you went through this. You absolutely deserved to be loved and cherished. I hope your life going forward is much happier for you.

I was in nursing school when I was pregnant with my 3rd and last child. I had a very hard time getting through the parts where we covered child abuse and neglect. I was assigned to give a short speech and couldn't get past the 1st paragraph. Luckily, I had an instructor who was very understanding and excused me from the front of the room until I was ready to continue my presentation.

It’s just so heartbreaking that these kids are gone and the parents get to live on after doing minimal amount of time. We definitely need more harsher punishment for these parents, real justice for these children. This story just made me look at my son and give him extra hugs. How can you hurt someone so small? Stories that involves children like Adam, Nixzmary, Elisa and other abused/tortured children is the reason why I can never be a supporter in the anti-adoption/anti-foster care movements. Not every child belongs with their "blood relatives". Yes, both systems need serious reforms and overhauls. But to keep kids in households where abuse is evident is absolutely ridiculous.

This is so sad. The system as we call it is still very much broken. Losing one child is one too many. I am sorry Michelle Mann had a horrible childhood but that does NOT give her the right to beat her children to death. There is absolutely no excuse for what she did. None.

26 years ago I saw this documentary in a child care class in highschool; my life was changed. Adam is the reason I passionately pursed becoming a social worker. I knew the world needed more people who truly cared for the well-being of children. This story had a huge impact on me. I never forgot and will never forget his name. 🙏🏽
Thank you for graciously sharing this case, not glossing over the details. My siblings and I were abused. I thought all children experienced it, but I felt like either I wouldn’t have children or I wouldn’t do them like that. Notice how they avoid damaging the face. It’s deliberate and they feel like as long as they do it behind closed doors it’s ok. There are still people that physically abusing children is a form of proper child rearing. They don’t think about the long term damage they do. Stop making children if you feel the need to treat them this way at all!!!

The system is still so broken. This beautiful boy and his siblings never stood a chance and for their "parents" to be among society sickens me and it is a slap in the face to the family. This one broke my heart. As a society, we need to do better. If you see something, report it. Call every damn day every minute of the day. The system failed this child. The system has failed many. Food seems to be used (or more aptly stated, withheld) as a punishment in so many of these horrific child abuse cases. Children are obviously growing and need to eat much more frequently than adults. If they're not being fed, what do these "parents" expect them to do?! They starve them because they know this will result in the children sneaking food when they can and then the adult can use that as an excuse to beat them. It's so f*cked up!
I have teens now (1 adult child) I go threw actual food & snacks the month isn't over when all the snacks is gone already. It's my job to have enough food for my kids to eat & enjoy.

My mom retired from being a social worker and she had to do things that also put her life at risk and till this day even though she's retired from the field a lot of the clients and parents loved her so much she was the best social worker they had.

I watched the trial of Gabriel Hernandez and I bawled for at least a week. I'd be at work and just burst out into tears. I couldn't get the brutal details out of my head. These poor, innocent babies, who never get to know what it feels to be truly loved. It just breaks my heart into a million pieces. 💔

Have you ever known any CPS case workers? That wouldn't phase the ones who do this. They are as bad as the parents that hurt their children. They are like numb and disassociated and do not care. I've seen a CPS office full of like little girls. It was like a sorority or something it was not pleasant. I've had CPS smiling at me while on some of the worst days of my life. And no I was not the abuser and I would never hurt my children it was somebody else but it was still so shocking and they were just smiling and it was so sick. I am in school gaining my BS in Human Services (social worker). Every week I read something or hear something in court. It's scary because one person can't change an entire f'd up system. I don't want to forget one child dealing with another. Over/under look this situation because I have 10 other situations. I know this is where I am supposed to be (God told me). Helping these babies out of the same exact situations my siblings and I grew up in. I don't want to be that worker that fails one of these children simply because there's so many that need help. I pray that I'll do the best work that I can. Even when it's not my case(s) because no child should be left/forgotten about in situations like this. We need to rebuild that village when we all stood together as one for these/OUR babies

I don't understand that if a parent went through that kind of abuse as a child, wouldn't you think that "I'm never going to put my own children through the same thing" would kick in somewhere? I think a lot of times when people are in the welfare system they keep having babies just for the money. Cruel I know to say that but look at how many one parent homes suffer abuse? Our government has caused a tremendous amount of these problems. So many people would have loved to take the children, love, care & provide for them. We are living in a sick society.
Honestly, I think when a lot of people grow up in a toxic and abusive household, they become so desensitized to the toxicity and abuse and as they become adults and have children, the cycle continues unfortunately. I see it with people within my family. You may have a few people within a family that has the ability to become resilient; however, it’s most of the time coming with starting completely over and going low or no contact with your family. When people grow up in certain situations you become used to it to where it oftentimes seem normal. It takes a lot to break out of what you’re used to unfortunately.

I remember reading about this years ago and nothing much has changed. It might even have been a documentary. In many states and countries such things are still happening and each have their own outstanding cases, but nothing much has changed. Horrific cases are still ongoing even though departments say they will learn from the mistakes made so they don't happen again. They do keep happening again though, over and over and over. Caseworkers and their managers need to be held accountable.

My heart lifted when you said that Keith and his brother put the brakes on the wheel of abuse. Being a victim of sexual, or physical abuse does not mean that you need to continue it on your own children. I know because that was the way I was brought up. I promised that if I ever had children that I would love them and protect them. I did just that. I have two daughters who are now 41 and 33. I love them. I have 8 grandchildren. They are always here. They love staying with my husband and I.

They took me in from malnourishment and sexual exploitation at 5 yrs old to "save me" thru weird rituals and habits like that. It feels like a silent kind of suffering because, rather than being beaten and having marks to show that people believe--or have possibly experienced themselves--your stories just revolve around things like being left alone at the table for hours to hold food in my mouth if i wouldn't/couldn't swallow it (i had to be reminded to chew), standing in front of my parents wearing a diaper and using it in front of them to "prove what a baby i was" if i wet the bed, reading my journals out loud to confess my sexual sins/being audio-video recorded surreptitiously around the house when the parents were gone...
It's easy to talk about the sexual stuff, but talking about the weird-*ss humiliating stuff makes a person feel like a true outcast, like nobody else COULD understand. It's a tragic life, even before the murder is heaped on top.
So many generationally broken families...

I had to sit in the toilet for hours too. Also had to sit at the table for hours because my mother would fill my plate with too much food on purpose. I was beaten and kept isolated and used as a slave .
I know this won’t help, but I am very sorry you went through this. You absolutely deserved to be loved and cherished. I hope your life going forward is much happier for you.

I was in nursing school when I was pregnant with my 3rd and last child. I had a very hard time getting through the parts where we covered child abuse and neglect. I was assigned to give a short speech and couldn't get past the 1st paragraph. Luckily, I had an instructor who was very understanding and excused me from the front of the room until I was ready to continue my presentation.

Here’s an idea; instead of punishing your kid for stealing food, how about you feed them in the first place? It’s a wild concept, I know.
It’s just so heartbreaking that these kids are gone and the parents get to live on after doing minimal amount of time. We definitely need more harsher punishment for these parents, real justice for these children. This story just made me look at my son and give him extra hugs. How can you hurt someone so small? Someone you created?! Someone who can’t defend themselves. And on top of the physical abuse, they starve and S.A them😑😒 God bless their souls and thank you for keeping their memories alive, although it is 😔

Stories that involves children like Adam, Nixzmary, Elisa and other abused/tortured children is the reason why I can never be a supporter in the anti-adoption/anti-foster care movements. Not every child belongs with their "blood relatives". Yes, both systems need serious reforms and overhauls. But to keep kids in households where abuse is evident is absolutely ridiculous.

This is so sad. The system as we call it is still very much broken. Losing one child is one too many. I am sorry Michelle Mann had a horrible childhood but that does NOT give her the right to beat her children to death. There is absolutely no excuse for what she did. None.

I watched Who Killed Adam Mann, and it destroyed me as a kid because I had such a great childhood and couldn't imagine such savagery against a toddler. RIP, Adam. 26 years ago I saw this documentary in a child care class in highschool; my life was changed. Adam is the reason I passionately pursed becoming a social worker. I knew the world needed more people who truly cared for the well-being of children. This story had a huge impact on me. I never forgot and will never forget his name. 🙏🏽
Thank you for graciously sharing this case, not glossing over the details. My siblings and I were abused. I thought all children experienced it, but I felt like either I wouldn’t have children or I wouldn’t do them like that. Notice how they avoid damaging the face. It’s deliberate and they feel like as long as they do it behind closed doors it’s ok. There are still people that physically abusing children is a form of proper child rearing. They don’t think about the long term damage they do. Stop making children if you feel the need to treat them this way at all!!!

The system is still so broken. This beautiful boy and his siblings never stood a chance and for their "parents" to be among society sickens me and it is a slap in the face to the family. This one broke my heart. As a society, we need to do better. If you see something, report it. Call every damn day every minute of the day. The system failed this child. The system has failed many. Food seems to be used (or more aptly stated, withheld) as a punishment in so many of these horrific child abuse cases. Children are obviously growing and need to eat much more frequently than adults. If they're not being fed, what do these "parents" expect them to do?! They starve them because they know this will result in the children sneaking food when they can and then the adult can use that as an excuse to beat them. It's so f*cked up!
I have teens now (1 adult child) I go threw actual food & snacks the month isn't over when all the snacks is gone already. It's my job to have enough food for my kids to eat & enjoy.

I think that sometimes the caseworkers get scared of the parents and we'll do anything to not have to deal with them.
My mom retired from being a social worker and she had to do things that also put her life at risk and till this day even though she's retired from the field a lot of the clients and parents loved her so much she was the best social worker they had.
Then they need to find another job, lives are at stake here.
