"Before you rush out and buy the set..." I already have mine. XD I love this review though; as a non-artist turning artist it's good to see how colours interact with the introduction of black and white in a concise format that I found delightful to watch through. Thank you for putting this together! It's a nice change to the individually branded (but super convenient for painting massive projects) bottles. So it's pretty sweet. I mainly ordered them because I enjoyed the experience of the base set so much with the month or so I had with it, as while it mightn't be super convenient for army painters (who need something consistent and don't necessarily want to be mixing a precise shade) the experience of learning and control for intentional colour placement is simply quite delightful.
Really well said and thank you for the kind words, as with my other video about Kimera one of my favourite things about Kimera is they force you to learn to use paint differently and I think this makes me better in the process
i basically use only kimera paints plus some heavy bodies and they are absolutely incredible, definetely worth it to invest and to give them a chance in order to start learning them
These kimera paints look so juicy, I have managed to branch out and get different types of paints recently. It is a lot of fun experimenting and trying out different ones, hopefully I can pick these up at some point
You definitely should, if you want to save some cash just order The Red, from Element Games (I have an affiliate link 😉) it’s my favourite paint in the range and imo the best red paint in the hobby. Game changer for me
@@RisingApe I'm running out of space on my paint rack and have definitely used up my hobby budget over the last 2 months :( so I have to wait a bit before I can sneak any more purchases in. Last weekend I picked up a few cheeky bottles of airbrush paint which I haven't seen anyone else talk about, so I'm keen to try them and make a vid about it
Thanks for the video, I was about to buy this Expansion hoping they'll be as dense and with top coverage as the first set but clearly they are not. I like my paints pigment saturated, here it seems they put a looot of medium, so definitely not my paint to go, as I like them with a 1-2 coat coverage, otherwise its just like any regular paint.
Hi, don’t be put off by the coverage the paints are still crazy saturated and some of the colours are insane. There are loads of ways to use transparent paint. That said I get what you mean, I think you will like Pro Acryl they are very similar to Kimera but come in a much wider variety of colours and so rely less on mixing. Thanks for watching the video
If you think the world of miniature paint naming with pigment numbers is a mess the watercolour would would drive you crazy. As someone who only paints watercolours and has a massive palette it's always fun to learn about other people's paint hoards.
With Alizarin Crimson on a white base, yup, I wanted to show that some of the pigments are significantly more transparent than the base set. To increase the opacity of the paint you can add black or white as I did in the mixing test. Or I would probably just base in Kimera’s The Red, which covers incredibly then do a coat with AC in the shadows. As I say in the video this set is more complicated than the base set and the base set itself is trickier to use than say citadel paints. That just makes them fun though 😉
It depends on the paint usually I use air brush thinner or flow improver. But most of those products are a mix of DI water Isopropyl alcohol and in the case of flow improver a drying retardant too. In this video I used flow improver, if the paint can flow into the brush then you have the dilution about right but it may take some messing about.
I would recommend using a bit of both. Water to get it flowing, then mix it into the cup with some thinner pre-placed. Though I would experiment with how thin you cut it.
Hey, from the states you can grab Kimera from Scale 75 US website but I don’t think they have the latest set listed for that one I would order directly from Kimera the shipping is pretty quick from what I understand from others stateside
@@steveisaak4320 Kimera 💯 have stock currently I was only chatting to them yesterday. But yeh I agree it’s maddening how hard they are to get hold of your way.
Kimera are produced and sold by Pegaso World they have stock of all 4 sets as well as lots of amazing models www.pegasoworld.com/product-category/kimera-shop/kimera-kimera-kolors/
Lol, rush out and buy?! With Kimera it's always rush out and wait...then wait more...then wait even more. Maybe, when stars align, you *might* get lucky 6 months after you no longer need them for the project you'd wanted them for.
The stock is really frustrating I will grant you, I have always been lucky and managed to get a set when I wanted them. I know K are working flat out to increase production, without making excuses they are a small company who until very recently were hand bottling/labelling and shipping the paints. They have a Kickstarter launching on Wednesday which aims to preorder the next batch’s. If you are keen, jump in and order them then to get in on the next wave.
Ahhh this "im biased and the 70 Euro Set was for free because Kimera is my Sponsor but im completely neutral" influencer BS again..... This Video is advertising. Nothing less. In Europe you would have to Label it as an ad. No sub for you and a "dont recommend Videos from this Channel" instead If you want the people to believe your lies, maybe use pros AND cons. Not only pros.
Hey, I appreciate its easy to get cross about this stuff, but I work hard to keep my videos unbiased, as I say in this video though, I am a big fan of their paints and the team behind Kimera who are awesome people. I do go into several of the negatives in this video though as this is a very different set to the base. Regards payment videos like this take upwards of 10-15 hours to make so while I am grateful for the set of paints I am doing this for the love, not the money. However you are right that this should have been flagged (this was't an option in the YT backend when I made the video I think, it's been a while since I made it,) it is now so thanks for the poke, although it could have been done more politely.
This video is very, very complete. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Coming from someone who is one of the painters who inspires me most, I will take that! Thank you 🙏
@@RisingApe Thank you very much! ^^ Congratulations for all the work you are doing!!

Their book shows idea of mixing with the base set.
Aye the book is pretty handy, Pegaso also have several good PDFs too
Got my pre order in already
It’s an awesome set hopefully it arrives quickly for you
Question what do you use to thin for a airbrush, water or thinners.
