Cinema critic, hair repair, rust repair, auto restyling, sound track by often overlooked Czech composer. This is exactly the high quality content I'm looking for! Thank you! 😎👍💇🛻🎧🏁📽🎞
Haha thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
My wife walked in while I was watching during classical music part with out seeing what it was and she thought I had lost my mind!
Hey, Kyle: I really enjoyed seeing this recent visit to what looks like your favourite wrecking yard. What a great variety and amazing selection of vintage vehicles to choose from. You're right, it's a shame they can't all be saved..but it's a sad reality. Also, I was wondering how the Chicken Truck name came about.
Yes! Most excellent episode 😂.
You forgot fashionista, burnt automotive chic, I think it's called.
Thanks for your courage. Nobody else on RUclips dares to talk about the burgeoning crime rate on Sesame Street.
Exposing the truth is never easy, but someone had to do it!
White picket fence is where it's at. Sesame Street is for the birds
Buick headlight treatment would look great in my opinion
Dig those crazy Beeyooack beeezills on that chicken truck, daddy-o.... Build it ,man. That thing'll be the most bitchin rig around, what with continuing the Buick styling cue with the beltline dip, it don't get any better...
Thanks, can't wait to get started on it!
I'm pretty excited for the upcoming project, I particularly like your treatment on the driver's side of the concept with the Buick/Oldsmobile sculpting. So cool!
Glad to hear you're on board!
Version B design definitely flows and looks more like a product of the 50’s. Soundtrack music is groundbreaking for any car channel…and much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed the soundtrack and I'm definitely leaning towards plan B too
Cant thank you enough for the sound track , helps so much with my psychosis. And the film review wow it was like i was there..Always thought Waylon would end up in trouble
Glad you enjoyed the sound track and film review! Haha
Excellent movie review! I admire the way you tackle hard hitting issues. Maybe next week you can review the Muppet movie. Take care.
Great suggestion! Haha.
I like the car rear molding into the cab idea Kyle.. I kept seeing the front of the car molded into the cab as well. Love the channel and your excellent work. dont give up your day job pushing the cart around town ha ha. At least you kept your signature coat around for anytime you needed a convenient fire...
Hey this is exciting. I will definitely watch! What are your thoughts on tailgate and the ass end of this … this …. Cartermino(?). Maybe take a look at the Joe Bailon Shampoo truck for ideas. Differently shaped vehicle of course but it’s really pleasing to the eye how the tailgate and rear pan flow into the fenders.
I dig the project and glad you are taking some risks, challenging yourself and having fun with it. You have the skills to pull it off.
Yeah I love the Joe Bailon shampoo truck!
Love the junkyard visits! Go back for that Monarch! I hadn't seen Follow That Bird in many years, for good reason. It traumatized my sister Edgar back in the day. You glanced over - perhaps intentionally - the scene where Waylon Jennings pimps out Big Bird at that truck stop for gas money, knowing full well he would be selling him for meat purposes. I like both of your truck ideas! For the second one you'd need the back end of like a 53 Buick, from the shape of it. If so those bezels would blend right in. I think they came off a 54. I had a 54 Super and they were great cars. If you can save that nailhead engine do so - they're excellent and smooth running engines! Remind those cats they're replaceable!
From the looks of things, someone else was already sizing up the nailhead for removal! Those nailheads always seem to be the first thing that goes missing in Buicks around here
Big Bird’s a Yellow Canary! And Snuffy’s a Mammoth!
Sheesh, you’da thunk a fella woulda researched this before gettin all wordy about the movie!
Great junkyard crawl, tho !
;)
Good to know, but this is the internet, so sensationalism is more important than the facts! Haha
Every single one of those cars would be a piece of cake for you
Thanks, but everything is a struggle around here, so I have to use my time wisely!
That 51 Shoebox was sweet 👍
The second model has my vote, and yes on the Buick headlight treatment. Some side pipes might look good as well. Great content 👌
Thanks! Wish I had room around here for the 51 shoebox!
Bezels are super cool. The second design had a cool streamline but looked kinda heavy. What if you blended the fenders in the first design down lower in the running board area, without encroaching the door? Thanks for sharing your process with us. Can’t wait to see it in real life! 👍
Cool idea for the fenders! At this point I'm probably going to continue refining the 2nd version and go with something similar to that
Liked that Dodge wagon at 7:30. Did the Sesame Street characters survive the neighbourhood gentrification? Your chicken truck project is intetesting. That Monarch swoop in the door must have given you some thought. Or the similar era Buick design. Model kits are now unaffordable, aren't they??? I still have a huge stash of them from back on the day, but no time for that anymore with too many 1/1 scale projects to do. We all need more money, time, and space!!!
Yeah I'd still be building model cars if the 1:1 situation hadn't gone out of control!
I thought you might make the cab taller. From your inspiration. I will be happy with what ever you do.
I don't know Kyle. I think I'd be terrified if I truly knew what goes on in your head. At 19:00 even Allen doesn't look too sure about you, unless he was high from sniffing glue! But I do like the look of the Buick rings. Some of the older customs had slanted quad headlights and those rings remind me of that.
Yeah I think I've seen a few old customs with the buick rings mounted at an angle
I like the concept. The fade away does make the front look more like the rear I think. The rear of the rear 1/4 panels seems to look a little to long from rear wheel opening to the back. I had a 49 Chevy sedan I bought in 1975 that had just been towed from California to Cape Cod by a 55 pickup with a tow bar. The Grand some of $400.00 and just had to rebuild the master to put on the road
.... JESUS SAVES.....And at today's prices, it's a miracle.
Haha!
Amen !
I enjoyed this. Especialy your "commentary" . I think yes (so far), Buick headlights. Not sure about the fade. New Dreamtruck rocks! Do you have all the relevant R&C mags? (If no, I will check) keep@it, kid.,,Izzy loves ya,,,
Glad you enjoyed it! I don't have any of the R&C magazines. Rik Hoving has scanned a lot of the articles on his fotki page
Whatever you decide to do I'll watch, just to see how you do it. I would really like to see a running vehicle at the end of the project, but if that's not the route you want to take, it's your show. Regards.
I just don't have money to do a complete build. Maybe someday if this youtube thing picks up. Thanks for watching!
Back in the '60s, I was paying 1.75 for model car kits.
I wish they were still that price!
I vote for the drivers side as well. With your quality of work I’m sure you could sell it as an unfinished project and it would be killer with paint and interior. Whatever you decide, I’m here to watch!
Yeah I'm leaning towards version 2 as well!
Great. Now you're sniffing glue. That should help you a lot. It shows in that movie synopsis. It's interesting to ponder the lives of those old vehicles. Thanks for another tour. Cheers!
The glue really does help!
That will be the coolest truck, ever!!!
Thanks, I hope it doesn't become one of the worst trucks ever!
I vote yes. Fried chicken sounds good. Thank you for your time.
Glad to hear you and the hounds are on board!
Wow.. there's a lot to unpack in this episode. Number one is.. I forgot Big Bird was a smoker. As far as the custom truck design goes, there's a Canadian youtuber doing sort of thing, and maybe you could get some pointers from him. You're already following his lead by deciding early that it will never be finished. All I know from watching his show is your design is going to require a lot of bondo. And lastly..... we'll just see how well your big city, fancy shmancy YT channel does without those cats to carry your water. All the best from the shed
Sometimes the cats need a vacation too...
😆@@glennnickerson8438
Yeah I'm learning a lot from that other Canadian. I'm currently working on a 4 part series revolving around missing body bolts and you won't want to miss the episode where I graft on a late 70's Ltd roof!
That may be a copywrite infringement. 😆@@CarterAutoRestyling
@@CarterAutoRestyling But can you build a ''Bugatti'' from the old sheet metal 44 gallons of Bondo and mechanical componets from ten different makes and models of Vehicles ?
Love the dramatic, almost tragic junkyard soundtrack. Also love your vision for the custom truck. Fadeaways are one of the best looking, but rarely well-executed features.
I’d like to see the top of the “bedsides” reach up closer to the belt line of the cab, as it seems to drop off a bit. Can’t wait to see this project take shape.
Yeah I see what you're saying about the bed sides! I haven't finalized any of that yet. Glad you enjoyed the music!
You just explained the plot of the whole movie, why spend $20 bucks when you tell us how the movie ends, not only your cat is on strike, he's sniffing glue and is higher than a kite, now he has perminent drain bamage and it's your fault, they watched you huffing gasoline, get some god damn counceling.
Haha, we used to hotbox our dog. The dog was nearly as baked as my brother. Relax people this was in the early seventies. We know now that is was a bad thing to do.
It really needs to be seen to be appreciated, my description doesn't do it justice. Haha
Ah the great lost treasures of the automotive world, James Dean's Porsche 550, Jim Morrison's fastback Mustang, and Waylon Jennings' Chicken Truck.
They may be lost, but the legend lives on in our hearts!
Diggin the new project. If you find a donor vehicle or parts in BC you want checked out or picked up I'd be happy to help out.
Hey thanks so much for the offer! I'm hoping I can still find most of what I need locally.
Big Bird was a Hood Rat? Who'd a thunk it.
Yeah, it's one of the best kept secrets in Hollywood, but I think people deserve to know the truth
Waitaminute! If you're s bird, can't you just fly to the store to get smokes? You wouldn't even need a bike!
That model looks like a 1951 El Camino!
He used to be able to fly, but 40 years of chain smoking and gorging on bird seed have left him permanently grounded
Go to it ! Grab the pieces, line them up. Decide if you like it, make changes and go for it ! Who's to say what is real and what is an illusion. Cue the music.
That's the plan!
Pizza, beer and a new video drops, i'm winning at life 👍👍👍👍
That was a fantastic synopsis of the Big Bird movie, now I will have to see it when it comes around to the theater. The design explorations on the Chicken truck are very interesting especially the second one. Using the Buick headlight bezels on a truck came to mind as soon as I saw that you had purchased them, great idea.
Thanks Paul! Great minds think alike eh?
Great designs!
Glad you like them!
great idea to use scale model for designing.....I'm sure it'll look great
I hope so! Thanks!
There you go Kyle, put some plastic models together build some sets and let the cats run amok... With a little CGI you could have a cheesy sci-fi movie!
I wonder if the Buick front fenders could be grafted to th ad truck fenders? Make the bezels fit better?
Yeah I wanted to cut the whole front fender off the Buick, but all the sheetmetal around the bezels was rotted out so I'll just have to build everything from scratch if I go that route
Not at all what i expected with "chicken truck." Perhaps too much huffing in the body shop while watching Bad Chad 😮
Dibs on the Ranger.
I don't watch bad chad
Some cool ideas for the truck! I like the front of those rear fenders more evident on the left side myself. I don't suppose that's a huge deal breaker for you,
Listened to the video at 1.25 speed again, haha.
Man - I love your plan b 'the fade away'... Fade-a-way! Fade-a-way!! Fade-a-way!!!
Very cool Ideas. I have always wanted one of those trucks. Being of modest income and raising a family, I never got the chance. Anyone who's bitching should consider the truck was scrap to begin with. I am happy to see it loved and taken care of. In style at that. Also, the junkyard tour as extra fun. Thank you.
I vote for the driver side !
Me too!
All this talk of Sesame street and "Big Bird.." if you start singing "One of these things is not like the other!!" I'm gonna Unsubscribe!!!
Ahh shoot! You're not gonna like the next video then! Haha
A walk through the junk yard with some classical music,,, the only thing needed is the smell of fresh leather upholstery in order to complete the “Day at the Man Spa” 😉👍
Enjoyed the banter ... And, oh yes, the music soundtrack. Also Great Potential in The Next Big Project.
Glad you enjoyed the music, I've been wanting to use it in a video for a while now!
I think the Buick headlight bezels work well with the modifications you are planning. Maybe the grill of the 50 Chevrolet car would look good? It has the 2 small lights in it. I share your concern about the price of model car kits. Just think, I used to blown them up after I had finished building them.
Yeah I was thinking about using a modified chevy car grill
Where is this? Amigos? I need parts for my camper van and I see a whole row of them sitting there.
Yup, it's Amigos
That next build will be interesting. Looking forward to it.
Thank you very much Kyle, thoroughly entertaining video. Love the ideas and the thoughts behind the design. Wondering for 2024, will we see a "Carter Auto Restyling meets Checkpoint Japan" (from Vancouver) video. I do'nt know if your local yard has any Eighties Japanese cars that could be saved? Or one of the classic trucks with a non-domestic engine, possibly 'ruffling some feathers', to keep my note here in one of the themes in this 'CAR' presentation! As in, the internet-famous, rusty Mustang with the Honda engine.
Cheers Kyle, maybe do a junkyard walkaround with Cold War Motors in 2024 because isn't there always 'room for one more' and thanks so much for a great music choice 😊✌
Thanks for watching! I don't have any plans for crazy engine swaps though, that's not really my thing haha
Yes on the pickup build here. And I don't judge on anything else. If that's how you wanna live then rainbows n suspenders to you good human
Cats are always on strike. They are just testing your loyalty.
I've really enjoyed your how-tos and in depth explanations, as well as the deep dives you take to completely fix rusted out areas. It's all been building to the chicken truck and whatever other Bondo-free custom projects you come up with.
Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Hopefully the union dispute between the cats can be resolved and they return to work. The world needs them.
The labour dispute is still ongoing. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on the situation
Nice model work.
You basically built a Holden Ute.
Check out a few of those.
Your description of the BB movie was bang on, just how I remember it, lol
Yup I did draw inspiration from the Holden FJ!
Don't Ute know it!😣😣😣 ( worse pun ever)...
Nice junkyard crawl--takes me back many years--enjoyed the music accompaniment too. Not many can create the swoopy elcamino look of that model, but you have the power! I am standing by.
Glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully I can create something similar to the model without making a total mess of things!
Kudos to you for using classical music for the outro!
Makes it like a movie 🍿
I'd know those Buick Bezels anywhere. I owned 4, 1953 Buicks in my teen years a Century, a Special deluxe, a Super Riviera, a Roadmaster Riviera (all at the same time) and all had that same headlight Bezel. Now that is what you have.
Yes the Buick bezel would look great 👍
I really like Exhibit B with the flowing lines between the front and rear. If it was me I would be looking to shorten the overhang from the rear arch to the truck rear and maybe put a kind of top to the bed to raise it a couple of inches. It could be an amazing project for your channel and I think if the body fits on an almost stock chassis it could bring you a good amount of cash.
You were so right about the cab corners on the model. Always time well spent, thanks.
Haha I have yet to find a real one that still had the cab corners!
Always enjoy your field trips thanks the classic music isa nice touch 😊
Thanks for watching!
Love to comment more, but I have a cat on my lap! Speaking of cats, they deserve a day off since it’s Thanksgiving weekend!😼🦃🇨🇦🍁🍗 🍽️
Thanks for taking time away from your cat to comment!
I like the Buick bezels, and I think the driver side.
Do the fade away and the Buick headlights. And go back and get the merc.
Wish I was closer by for a ford f1
You're having a rational, civil conversation with a human being? I'm so proud of you!
You should hear the conversations that got edited out! Haha
I like your vision for the chicken truck and your choice of music.
I'm glad you like both!
Love the idea I like the rt side design better as you described matching the frt. fender to the rear arch. Love the headlamp bezels perfect! Good luck I am sure to love whatever you choose!
Thanks! It's definitely going to take some luck to pull off this project!
Or people sitting on their duff watching RUclips instead of saving old cars...
Like the appearance of the drawings made back when Studebaker made a beautiful city truck But Mr GM never produced what I hope you do in your following videos. Produce the forerunner of the El Cameo , beauty and purpose sometimes are far apart. But you Kyle can Nail it when you do it.
Thanks, I hope I'm able to pull it off!
Those ribbed bumpers at 4m 30s, they would look great on a special project 👌 I think I’d rescue them, even without a project 😆
Yes unfortunately there are more being crushed than saved these days. I saved a U.S. Army 1952 Dodge Power wagon 3/4 T 4x4 M37 cargo carrier. When I saw it I had to have it. I am up to 18 videos working on it. The paint was put on thick by the military but, as you start chipping the old paint off there is rust underneath. Thanks for the look around at the Antique Junk yard Kyle. Good luck on all of your projects. Did your orange cat like sniffing the glue smell on that model?
I'm not sure if he enjoyed the glue or not. I think he just likes investigating anything that's new or different
The Buick bezels look good on the truck fenders. Hope you are able to blend the cab and car quarters
Yeah it's going to be a challenging job for sure!
Hey, Kyle: What a great concept car pickup this is! My choice is the first model, partly because the front and back fenders flow out slightly.I don't think the slab-sided one works as well. The Buick bezels are a great idea. Also, consider the car finished off in a light tangerine over yellow semi-opaque paint.
It's a wonder that Big Bird doesn't live in Washington, D.C. That place is full of diverse characters and creatures.
I really like the idea of turning the truck into a sorta early El Camino. It should be a winner anywhere and yes, go for the Buick headlight bezels.
My first car was a Plymouth Fury 3 just like the white one in the video. Except mine was a brownish color with a white top
Where are these cars -lots of great stuff. Cheers
Clavet Saskatchewan
I like the Buick bezels on the chevy truck. I also like the 2nd model design better than the 1st. I never liked the flat-topped front fenders and grills on early 50's trucks ('49 on?). It's like they were up against a deadline and just phoned the whole front end in when styling all that part of the bodywork.
Great ideas with this custom project! Once I had a project in my head that was haunting me at night for many years. But having something in the mind and making it a reality are two very different things. Luckily enough I was realistic enough to abandon this idea. It was a 57 Borgward Isabella 2 d sedan that I planned tho turn into a fastback. Being a unibody without frame I knew the only way to make it become reality was sourcing an old GM frame and drivetrain. In Europe there are much less donor cars available. So the project died a slow death even before it really started.
A buick front end treatment, would look great with the fade away look, if I remember correctly the late forties buicks had a fade away look to the sides, maybe 46-47 Olds grill bars? Classic kustom style, been done over the years, but done well looks great.
Wished I owned a salvage yard!! Alot great cars out there!! It's a shame most will be crushed.... I wish alot of these places would let these cars go for at least scrap price or couple hundred over scrap....
But alot of times money means more than saving history...so these guys will offer these cars to you for thousands and then when you decline they crush them for a few dollars in weight 😢 wish I could save them all.... make them more affordable lol!!!
I was so inspired I went down to the local video shop and got the movie out on Betamax and watched it half a dozen times, one of the all time classics for which that bird received multiple Oskars in the best acting by a seven foot tall bird category.
That is awesome! I'm glad you feel the same about the movie as I do
@34:31 Side view; raise the tops of the door windows to the same level as the top of the windshield .
Fade away is nice. @0:37 use the grill and bumper from this Buick. Perfecto. 8^)
Always up for a junkyard tour! Thanks! Good luck with the Chicken truck. I'd write more but I need to watch the movie. Cheers!
Awesome concept vehicle ideas, I hope it'll work out. Looking forward to seeing the metal work and fabing
Love the background soundtrack, Kyle. Well done! Great idea on the new custom truck. For sure go with those Buick headlight bezels.
I love the concept and I like the molded in 51 Chevy back half. You got my vote.
Thanks, I'm glad you're on board with the project!
Nice,,Best Regards
Until now i honestly thought tge chicken truck was you trolling us, but no!...
I look forward to the "Chicken Truck."
Glad to hear that!
Version two looks fantastic. Really looking forward to this project!
Thanks! Version two is the direction I'm headed!
Great design for the chicken truck. I would like to see you make it happen!
Thanks, I hope to get started on it soon!
Kyle That’s definitely going to be a great Build Can’t Wait for you to start working on it Kool idea Great walk around the yard lots kool stuff
I really like the classical music in the background!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I think the headlight bezels would look great on the truck . Just my thoughts. Thanks.
i think the forward end of the bed might look better a bit higher and slope backwards more, just a thought.. hard to imagine these things, so it was good to see in scale model.
I agree with you on the height of the bed! Thanks for your input!
Truck model looks good Kyle but I would lengthen the back of the cab (king cab style) because it looks a little short. Also i personally don't like the how low the top of the bed sides are. I think they would look better raised to be in line with the fat part of the cab. That's my 2 cents. Buick bezels look SICK.
Yeah the plan is to raise the bed up a bit, just haven't gotten to that part yet!
