i will tell you people flightradar24 is pretty much accurate. I go outside of my house and look at planes and helicopter flight paths and i come on flightradar24 and it has the exact same flight path location of that particular flight when I had looked at outside
Q. Why is it on the radar that some planes are not visible on the radar? It's it possible for the planes to be blocked from view. I watch the higher planes fly over my head and they are not on the radar.
@@juliewilliamson1867 Yes - Flightradar24 uses ADS-B transponder transmissions and I think also Mode S. Some plane owners restrict the use of their data even if they transmit this data. If you have a receiver, you can see it. Some aircraft, like military aircraft may turn their transponders off if in a military air space. I think some general aviation aircraft are not required to use ADS-B.
What I found very entertaining is to also pull up the tower frequency for a specific airport and listen to the chatter between the cockpit and the tower while watching the planes on flightradar24..

There is a 3-d view that allows you to see things from a pilot's perspective or some other position relative to the plane. Is there a feature to see aircraft from a point on the ground? That would be useful to aid with identifying planes flying overhead. For example, recently I took a picture of the comet, and three planes crossed the frame. The view west of my position pretty much aligns with a busy flight path, so there are many planes potentially in the field of view. Identifying each plane is a challenge when viewing from above.

On my cellphone, when I first installed F24, I was able to choose the Aircraft Icon Size. I left it on Auto and everything was fine (small and large distinction was on the screen) until all of a sudden the icon sizes started changing on its own. Went to Settings and the ability to change the size has disappeared. Uninstalled and re-installed the app and still no AIS showing. Is there any way to get that back?

Let the app has permission to camera you could use at look at a plane and it will show you the plane data
