The Secret World of Flight Tracking - How It Works?

- I have been planespotting for over 20 years; during this time technology has evolved greatly to make the planespotter's life much easier, a big contribution coming from that of the flight tracking app.
In the video, I visit AirNav Systems, a leading flight tracking company to explore how flight tracking works. Andre Brandao, CEO of AirNav, explains the entire process, from the airplane sending signals all the way to receiving from Radarbox to the server and then finally displaying data in the app.
To my surprise, there are currently over 24,000 devices all over the world, including some in the most remote places imaginable, all sharing data to make flight tracking possible. You can also become one of these flight data feeders!
Andre also shared with me the current state of aviation recovery with the latest flight data; the number of flights in the sky per day and a region by region comparison. Some of the unique features of Radarbox, such as airport heat map, airplane utilization, Air Traffic Control and Skyvector map, are introduced in the video.

one of those 24,000 devices is hosted by me and its a great feeling to be a part of this platform since last 5 years
Flight radar is the most addicting thing to ever be created
Absolutely
true tho
agree
AirNav was actually one of the data providers to FlightRadar and many aviation industry companies. But it is more focused on B2B so you may not hear of it.
Eye you right👍
I’m always tracking my plane as it comes in, therefore I can time my airport arrival.
We enjoyed having you over, Sam. Fantastic video!
I have my very old Airnav device which purchased in 2009. How can I get a new one to feed the data now?
@@jumpseater Hello Kelvin, you can apply for a free ADS-B kit or buy one of our ADS-B hardware.

I never know such company is doing this starting from passion to a business.. marvelous! Thanks Sam for sharing this video.
Great video!! I can use this to show my family what I'm doing all the time when tracking flights... they think I'm crazy lol but it's just a rare interest/ hobby that most people haven't heard of.
Thanks for the amazing video!
I always enjoy your videos!
Keep the good work on, Sam.
Lots of changes since the early days. I used to experience with this using a Yupiteru airband receiver on the 130 something frequencies feeding the data direct in a program on my laptop and see the stuff appear on the display.
MAGIC!
From the south of the Netherlands i could see planes all the way overhead the Northsea.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you Sam! You made my day as a Radar Box Feeder 👍👍
Great video as always Sam. Bravo!
This is really nice! Currently one of the feeders in RadarBox!
keep up the great work in sharing data feed to keep flight tracking going!
@@SamChui Yup Will do! Thank you!! ❤️
@@SamChui You should get one yourself, Sam!
Hi Sam, I wish that we can see a real time camera on take off and landing in the cockpit associated with flight tracker
that's a great suggestion!
And why not a camera with a state of the art zoom capacity to pick out landmarks along the way. This would be ideal on long haul flight from let's say, Australia to the U.K.
Love the vid Sam keep up the great work
Great video! Love your content, Sam
Good work mate!. Keep going ❤️
Simply fascinating! I’m already addicted
What an awesome video, great job Sam....
Amazing video. Just downloaded their app and subscribed. The level of detail is amazing.
Awesome! We hope you enjoy using the app. Do check out the website too - www.radarbox.com
I always view with great interest. You are extremely objective and informative. Great presentation! Keep up your good work...keep entertaining us. God bless you.
I like spotting planes but I never have the time to photograph them. I was in Tehran yesterday and saw some well cared for A300-600’s. Quite a rare treat.
it will be really cool for it to be a blend with slight sims, like they make things 3d, and give you the ability to get inside the cockpit.
This is one of a billion ways why people love and are so passionate about aviation...
Great video !!
THANKYOU sooo much Sam!!! for the information it was very interesting!!!😄😄😄😄
You did not forget Ataturk Airport! Thanks Sam! :)
Great work guys....I would like to know two things, first the flight plan plotted (filled to ATC) in order to compare it with the actual route. Second a map with the destinations of every airline but separated by fleet or even sub fleet.... many thanks!
I live directly under the flight path of inbound jets in Nashville Tennessee. I have clocked a Boeing 747 which is rare except for FedEx at 1100 ft over our house, cockpit lined up directly. I figured out which days the outbound turns the inbound and we'll sit out on my back porch or on top of the caboose that's in our backyard. This is an awesome app, this is the one and only flight tracker app that I have ever downloaded and I basically every phone that I have this and a few other apps are one of the first that download. Being this close to the airport I feel like I have an advantage it's a rare treasure
thanks for sharing such a documentary
Awesome job sam
👍
Radarbox - Airnav systems doing such a amazing work 🔥
Really amazing work! I am a super fan of this app. Since 2003 I have been using AirNav RadarBox.
Hi Sam, This is what I would like to see one day: Becoming a pilot of a major airline! Too old to achieve that goal now; but, perhaps in my next life. Thank you for all the joy you provide me on aviation.
I don't mean to be rude, but, are you sure you can't still become a pilot?
@@anabob9991 No, you are not being rude. And, yes, I am sure it's late now. Thank you for asking.
Do not take No for an answer.
im currently 39 is that to old. i feel it is
@@kzariuscook1275 No, that's not too old. I know two people who started around your age. All the best...
Gratitude for this insightful video, its so riveting ❤👏
Sam another great vlog !
flight radar is my first choice , being the Travel Agent I always relay on FR24, will also try Air NAV after seeing your video
Hi, I live in Cuba 🇨🇺 and I'm a RadaBox feeder, I really like doing this.
I think it would be more of an accessory to the application, the delay time from when the plane lands until you leave the terminal, both on domestic and international flights. Greetings
Hello boss (sam) nyc to see u 😁
I used to track from flight radar but after using AirNav I felt like this is very user friendly & so so sooo informative as well we can listen the tower tats makes me interesting ……… 😇🤩
I was just searching RUclips for this! Then I said: let me check Sam’s channel.and Voila!
You can also see that the aviation is opening up agian. Like in Billund (where i live) there was like 5 flights daily (2020) but now it is normally 10 flights daily.
great to hear!
That's great Sam SIR...
Really it was really a informative video....
Taxi time for aircraft at the airport would be a good feature if it's not already included. Love flight tracking, thanks Sam!
Awesome Sir….. Love from India 🇮🇳
I remember going to JSI back in 2014.
Route and a few charter was on.
The kinda early fr24 days
wow! now i have a better flight tracking website other than flight radar, thanks sam for your video~
Hi Sam
Paul
In Kent 17 miles from London I use Airnav systems with my roof top
Antenna I get 300 miles range from my house last week was able to track aircraft in Belgium and Germany
Me can track planes five thousand miles away from USA
Did u pay for a box?
@@terryterry1655 The box is shipped free if the area you're is good for flight tracking.
Well edited video
Awesome Information through your video sam. Truly appreciate it. I think you can make Quite Technical videos Now. It would be interesting for all of us.
Dear Sam in addition over oceanic Airspace if CPDLC conversation can be displayed and over land voice communication can be heard by tracked aircraft will make it very interesting
Thanks for informative vedio sam
Stay blessed ❤️
That is fascinating. I have been tracking many flights around the world for quite sometime now. I am from Jakarta, 🇮🇩
Oh wow, I noticed your flight from TOA to SBD... SBD is my local International Airport, although I'm based at REI (Redlands, CA). That's super cool, I didn't know you've been legitimately local to me. SBD is a really cool airport considering it is one of those lesser known International Airports close to ONT and LAX. Have you been to Luxivair at SBD?
i love flight tracking it’s so interesting
Really loved your video❤❤love from INDIA 🇮🇳🇮🇳❤❤
Nice Job. Keep going ahead Sam.
Very Informative discussion

Very informative video bro

Fantastic video
Hello Sam. I would like to see the same camera feeds from my computer what i see in for example in qatar airways flight as a passenger from the seat monitors. The nose camera, the rear camera etc. That would be really cool. you could experience so much more with this feature.
Love to see your video
love the video.
One of the things that I would love on a flight tracking app is camera views of the aircraft in real time if they have them. ✈️
Amazing video, it's amazing to see how tracking aircraft has evolved!
Hey!
Nice to see you!
@@indiannooblet hey
Really amazing! RadarBox is a wonderful app.
@@oneworldaviation3 omg Sam chui hearted ur comment!!😱😱😱😱😱😱
❤good job sir
I live in Bengal gulf which is located in eastern side of India and it's one of the busiest airspace corridor between east and west bound countries, so I track most of the aircrafts whenever it goes over my house.
Feature that I recommend for tracking is for AIRPORT - when aircraft landed how much will be it's TURN AROUND time in a perticular AIRPORT/AIRLINE. this will help in PREDICTING how much will be possible for that perticular airport if aircraft is delay in landing
Awesome sam!
I got my first AirNav Radarbox back to 2009.I was a new tech at that time and i put that in my office during my shift and track the aircraft before the web base stuff came in.
Hi Kevin, please email ajoseph@radarbox24.com and we will ship you a new ADS-B receiver.
It is nice to start the video with HKIA(HKG)...most favorable airport for my home town @Sam
something tells me these guys at this company know Linux .. just a hunch! Another great video Sam!
Newfoundland Shoutout!!!! Woohoo
Good job boys!
Amazing video
Nice work
Great video....the feature i want to see the most is the ability to track military aircraft which fly over my house...I just want to see what aircraft they are. Cheers then....Mark :-)
Awsome video
Nepalese domestic airlines are not shown on radar mostly. i would love to see them since there are many delay flights from and in kathamndu.
also eagerly waiting for your National airlines cargo flight vlog to Kathmandu!
Lots of love from NEPAL!
Brilliant.👍✈️🛫🏆😊
Wow,Nice,Cool👍!Great!
At 0:45 i saw uzbekiston airways parked at the gate, thats amazing!!!
As I know that those airport pick up service drivers also use this tool to manage their time
YAY A NEWFIE WAS IN DIS VIDEO! Im also from newfoundland!
Hi Sam, I’d like to see the oldest/newest aircraft in the air and where it is with stats and airport webcams you can tap on
What is the resolution of RadarBox compared to Flightradar 24 from the perspective of normal user
What do you mean by resolution?
live video stream from airplane cameras would be awesome in tracking apps
Hi Sam Chui amaizing vídeo I Big fan From Venezuela greetings 🇻🇪😉
Is this similar to flight tracker 24 but just has a lot more things to look at ?
Why they said he can track a plane 100 miles away , do I not track planes from Sydney to USA ? What is different here
Good evening Sam , i've been watching your videos for quite some time now , i was wondering if you can make a video about EGYPT AIR .
Great video Sam.

This Airplane views and spotting are good
Great Sam 👍
I would like to know if it can be discerned how many flights are diverted from their intended and scheduled destination and for which basis?
Looking very nice...
A feature on ADSB for the spotters to see which runway a certain aircraft is departing or arriving on
RadarBox has that. If you're unable to find it please email ajoseph@radarbox24.com, and we'll be happy to show you.
Hello Sam Chui Great Job Keep It Up Best Information Very Helpful Video God Bless You Long Life And Good Health Thanks Dear
The New we need in flight tracking page is how many passengers on each flight.

Flight Radar with flight view app you get lot of informations about flight. Like it's previous flight information including arrival gate no
