"despite knowing the journey and where it leads, I embrace it and I welcome every moment of it." Good film.
Sums up human life in a single line
Sums up human life in a single *circle with little pointy things sticking out from the sides
I better get myself a tetanus shot, I accidentally cut myself on that edge.
it wasn't, though.
its not a lost cause. it is the effect of just cause denied by departure into the void of infinite madness. consciousness hijacked by illusions to allow the expanse and its monsters to appear as powerful in a negatively drawn time space that gathers momentum from its apparent successes
Probably the most underrated sci-fi movie in the history of movies.
Underated? What?
Oblivion?
I agree. On the opposite end of tone, Skyline is one of the greatest invasion movies and realistic I've seen.
Fully agree with you
I really hope you've seen contact. I put Arrival right up there with Contact, and to a certain degree Interstellar. But if you've never watched Contact, for the love of Carl Sagan watch it tomorrow!

This film...the actors...got robbed at the Oscars. Is now one of my all-time favorite movies. Sometimes perfection is quiet, unassuming and imperfect. :-)
Very well put!
Alysianah Noire the Oscars don't seem to like Sci Fi films that much.
Yes, perfection is imperfect. Totally get what you mean there. Yup.
"Sometimes perfection is quiet, unassuming and imperfect."
Nice!
Well the story just kinda falls apart near the end, and the whole military political drama was honestly just f'ing stupid.

There's no movie that has ever made me cry as hard as Arrival did. The emotions I felt in the final few scenes were absolutely suffocating.
The final scenes hit me so hard, that i couldnt move and walk away from the theatre...
When the twist hits!!!! OMG!!!!!

Those loving words, whispers.
i had infinite goosebumps in the ending... especially this dialogue hit me hard
Louise: If you could see your whole life from start to finish, would you change things?
Ian: Maybe I’d say what I felt more often. I don’t know. I’ve had my head tilted up to the stars for as long as I can remember. You know what surprised me most? It wasn’t meeting them. It was meeting you.

This is so beautiful!
That feeling…unlike any other…it’s the only one that matters…it’s everything.
"So Hanna this is where your story begins, the day they departed" The ending of this movie always brings me to tears because it so bittersweet but beautiful...

Me too! I absolutely love everything about this movie. I just saw Interstellar for the 3rd time the other day. That movie always gets me! How he realizes he looses all that time and he missed decades of his children's lives. This song would go good with that scene. That movie is more mind blowing trippy figuring it all out. This movie is hauntingly beautiful and so clever with the twist at the end. Just hits you right in the heart!💔 I love sci fi movies In general but your right these two movies are on another level! . Def all time favorites!!!!🙌
I am crying, for last half an hour, in the bathroom of my college. I am not good at showing emotions, I am bawling my eyes out as I write this. This movie....it hit me. Gosh I never missed my family after I came to college, there was so much to do, after watching this movie, I called my mom, I was crying this side, while listening to her melodious voice. Gosh, I suddenly realized how self obessessed I am! I never gave a thought to my life. The way it has gone. I mean I never showed gratitude to my family, not that I was rude to them, but it was surface level, everything, but now that I look at their pictures, after watching this movie, my heart fills up with so much gratitude, for thank god, I got this family!
I departed from my brother, he was shoe box sized doll, when I first saw him, his little legs, his crying shrill voice, growing up with him, I never showed gratitude for it. Now I realise it won't come back, me and my brother, small, as we were watching TV, in a way it's a death of a phase of out lives, it makes me so sad to think of it, but so good to think that it happened.....I am crying. Thanks to the person who made this music and this....
Film
And thank YOU for taking the time to write this comment! I feel you, I think. It's good to find a valve that helps release emotions that you otherwise suppress. I am glad you could have this epiphany!

This is a beautiful passage you've shared. Thank you. For me, this film was beautiful .... taken to another level by Max Richter's lovely composition.
Hannah, a palindrome, serves as a visual representation of this non-linear understanding, emphasizing the interconnectedness of past, present, and future. It's a creative linguistic and visual choice that adds depth to the movie's exploration of language, time, and communication.
Wow... I never thought of it that way.
This is one of the most emotional music pieces in history.
One of the most beautiful songs ever made.
This music cuts all the way through to my soul.

Every time.
This movie was in my head for a week after I watched it. It was definitely the best and most overlooked movie of 2016 despite the reviews. It really wasn’t talked about as much as it should have been, probably because it makes you think and allot of people don’t like thinking too much.
Absolutely true. People go out of their way repeatedly and exhaustively, NOT to have to think too much. It's a sad commentary on Humanity. Science says Humans only use 10% of the brain. But that's by CHOICE. There is a lot more available to Humans in those brains if they'd only Use them.
Same here. It still takes me another kind of mode, feeling an aura undescribable
How is it overlooked when it was a box office hit, was nominated for a ton of awards, and was almost universally praised by critics?
Basically Denis Villeneuve films in a nutshell until he made the Dune films and the masses finally started to realize that the man is a genius
@@kinnexionhe is an absolute genius.
This movie blind-sided me with it's brilliance, it's emotion, and it's profound view of our flaws and potential as a species. The music was perfect, and only added to what is now one of my favorite films.
Took the words out of my mouth. I dismissed the movie when it was in the theaters because word of mouth was it wasn't what people expected plus my wife saw it on dvd and said the same. Beautiful movie, very subtle, not loud or obnoxious, but very cerebral and sobering and emotional.
So did you like it?
I'd say so
💔🐕🐶🦮🐩🐺🦋🐬🐟🐛🦗🥀🐝
This movie so deeply moved me. It expressed so many things that I already felt inside. A mother’s love for her child. A love for a spouse. Choosing to be brave and love knowing what the end will look like. How time can change our perception of suffering. I can’t listen to this song without crying. My husband was also deeply moved by this movie. We almost lost my daughter in 2018 to a car accident thankfully she pulled through but each painful moment of suffering was so worth all the joy she brought us and the joy she experienced in her life.
God bless you and your family
this movie is about much more ppl understand sadly..as any masterpiece truly most of time is.. the fact you can't change death, the fact suffering is unavoidable, the fact true love, compassion is more powerful than any death can be is the true message of this movie, it gets as close as possible for humans to see, trully see what real love is, and why death has no power over love, its other side of coin as important as life, tears flowing is knowing all this, and still loving, still compassion, still caring..in the face of utter 100% knowing..
Not much moves me emotionally, but like you, this movie and music made a big dent.
❤
When the movie ended and finished on the screen simply reading "Arrival"... bringing the story of events to its complete circle as the ending becomes its beginning... my tears only compounded. Such a powerful film.
I just saw ‘Arrival,’ for the first time a few days ago. I love a good twist ending but this one was one of the craziest gut punches I’ve ever experienced. There are endings that make you cry, and then there are endings that break your heart in real time. Really amazing film.
Hans Zimmer absolutely killed it with his music for Interstellar. But this one song from Arrival simply rips my guts out.
The main composer was the late Jóhann Jóhannsson
Can’t believe it took me till 2022 to see ‘Arrival’ but here I am in absolute tears because of the story and emotionally heart-pulling music by Max Richter..what a film, very overlooked.

String evoke so much emotion, sometimes a cheap way to create sorrow in films, but sometimes when done right string based music can make you feel shit you didn't know was there. Like forgotten memories or dreams.
For me the higher point in Arrival was that final combination of scenes and music making my spine shiver. Like an addiction it's the feeling I always search in Cinema, that shiver, and for most of the times it won't happen. That's how I know this was A movie and A soundtrack.
I cried like a bitch !
Kaka Box I very much agree. I only watch quality films and listen to quality music; and within those qualities blended together you get pure art. And true art can be unforgettable experience.
You not alone.
Well said man
This piece just pulls tears outa me. It’s not even necessarily sad. You could have this as a wedding song or a funeral song.
Melancholy: nature of life: hope, aspiration, sorrow, regret, pain, salvation. Somehow it just encompasses all of that and the finite but precious nature of our own lives.
This song beautifully encapsulates the feeling of a baby taking its first steps. Both that of Hannah into her brief life and that of humanity into the cosmos
To Villeneuve and Amy Adams,
I don’t really have the ‘language’ to express the gratitude I have for this wonderful creation that defines the creator and creation.
This movie based on the Ted Chiang, I am so very glad that it was you people, who made this a possibility. I have learnt what life is because of you three. Thank you very very much.

There is a part of me that will always come back to this. This piece somehow manages to move me like no other. It reminds me, everytime, how beautiful it is to be born human, brimming in feelings, moved by them, driven by them, altered by them. Regardless of the pain of existing and the hiccups of the journey, we are lucky.

This music is so powerful that I always end up crying for no reason. It always bring tears in my eyes, I have heard so many times that music is so much powerful that it could tear you up from inside. I keep on listening to it and yet it never fails to bring those tears in my eyes, I have no words to express how much this music is beautiful.
I don't comment much on anything but this I want to show to everyone out there that we still have so many melodies which actually bring out the true nature of "Music"

This is a sleeping giant of a film. It's beautiful, thoughtful and just makes you think of life really.
I love movies that do that. This and interstellar for me.
When I saw this movie in theaters I said it's the best movie in 5 years and it will be 5 years before a better movie comes out.
one of the most emotional movies ever made . this thing is just a piece of art
This is one of my favorite alien and scifi movies overall. The twist ending was completely unexpected. It was just so beautiful. This movie is so under-appreciated.
I cry every time. I watch a couple times a year.
The beginning and ending to this film made my cry more anything. And still does whenever I watch it. Such a beautiful film.
Whenever I see a much anticipated movie I often think "maybe this story will change my life." That's never been the case . . . leaving the theater, wondering why such a great art medium can't have a more potent, lasting, transformative effect for me.
Then, one night, as the last few minutes of "Arrival" faded to black, but before the lights came up, I sobbed, in that moment, as understanding washed over me--why Amy Adams had those particular, peculiar connections with the Octapods, and with the Chinese President, and with her husband and, of course, with her daughter. All those moments in the movie when she paused with a wistful, and contemplative, expression came tumbling back, her realizations becoming our own. And yes, after so many years, a story for which I had long waited, with great direction and acting, and, of course, with this powerful music, all capable of changing lives, had finally for me arrived.
This movie is a perfect explanation of Dr. Manhattan's interpretation of time. This movie was so underrated. This is a must watch before you die movie. The story, the cast and the soundtrack was just perfect.
I didn't lose a child... but I was a child that lost her mother who was at my age today ( 33 ). This song makes me think about the thoughts that probably went through her head before she took her own life. I'm sure that she was saddened and riddled with guilt to think about leaving her daughters behind. Post partum depression brought her down to the point of no return... My father didn't look at us the same since then.
Damn... That's so hard. I feel so sorry for you.
im so sorry

Not that anyone would care or should care but here I am on the eve of this video hitting 2 million views. I remember first listening to this specific version of On The Nature of Daylight when it had around 900,000 views. I remember being surprised that the video didn’t have millions of views already. And I remember being excited the days leading up to the first million views. This was around 2-2.5 years ago. And now here I am so happy to know that this beautiful musical piece will hit 2 million views. So many joys and tears have been accompanied by this musical piece. This is my favorite piece of music ever. I would listen to it on the day of my wedding and would love to have this play on the day of my funeral. In one word, and in the fullest extent of the word, I would say this is beautiful. If anyone’s reading this, keep fighting the good fight. Don’t give up. Persevere. Persevere until the end even if it means you struggle and suffer every single day. If suffering leads you to Heaven, O how glorious is our suffering.

This is one of those movies that sticks with you. The acting was amazing, the soundtrack equally amazing.
I first heard this in shutter island, then in last of us, finally in arrival. i used to listen to this song almost everyday in 8th grade and now when im a college major, This one just brings back memories. back when the world was so colourful and something mysterious. Back when I could be an idealist and pose my ideas of how the world should be, how i would be, without my mind doubting and fumbling. The world i know of right now, the version of me i know right know is something my 8th grade self would be disappointed in. I promise that kid I will not let his idealism go away no matter what happens and work towards what he thought was necessary.
Wow. Just the music on its own can bring back so many memories. One of the most touching and profound movies I’ve ever seen.
It makes perfect sense that one of the most beautiful films of all time should have one of the most beautiful soundtracks. I've seen this movie countless times. It breaks my heart and inspires me beyond words every time. Script, score, acting, direction - everything is perfection.

This film completely blew my mind, it's such a masterpiece! It's not just sci-fi but a satire and reflection on our own world about prejudice, fear and division. Having a strong sense of unity and choosing love over hate even if it leads to heartbreak.
I like to think it is about Embracing life. It is a masterpiece.
@@Zarbon000 Exactly. So many people miss the deeper meaning of the film. Language and commentary on the blinding effects of fear are part of it but the true heart of the film is centered on two of Nietzsche's concepts: Amor Fati (love of fate) and Eternal Recurrence of the Same (the view of time as simultaneously occurring forever across all points). The heart of the film in Louise's journey is an exploration of how life can be immeasurably beautiful and meaningful in all its aspects, from the highs of joy to the depths of despair and pain.

I just love this soundtrack so much, it gives me the feeling of climax, anticipating something that’s about to happen, but at the same time melancholy and nostalgia, of something that already happen and you’re longing for those memories, encapsules the message of the movie and life itself
"It gives me the feeling of climax"
a beautiful soundtrack. The way the violin softly meanders around the main score is perfect. It's innocent. Sounds almost like weeping even though you knew what was coming. Weeping as you know the train has finally reached its destination and there is no going back.
