- We’ve been excited to share this video for a while, we sail and explore around Milos Island in the Cyclades - Greek Islands. Ana Luisa is the designer Tracey likes, they sent these pieces www.analuisa.com/tracey

We visit four of the best beaches: Kleftiko, Firiplaka, Tsigrado and Sarakiniko beaches. We arrive in the dark after sailing from the Peloponnese and anchor right out the front of Kleftiko Beach. Jase surprises me with an amazing 10 year wedding anniversary and we spend the morning exploring the crazy rock formations on the tender. We then jump in the irresistible water to see more below the surface. With a very fast storm approaching we are forced to leave this magical place.
All good though, as our next stop is another distinctive beach, Firiplaka Beach. The large mountains with their unusually colourful rock faces meet the sand and the perfect blue Aegean Sea and we spend a cruisey afternoon wandering the beaches as the sun sets.
Next beach is just around the corner and again we are able to anchor Kawai right out the front of this isolated beach. We tender in to Tsigrado Beach and discover the other way to get to this beach: a couple of precarious ladders perched in the crevice of the cliffs and see why it is so secluded. We are mesmerised by the unique colours and stunningly crystal clear water and of course jump in for a swim. The wind picks up and unfortunately it is time to leave.
We sail up the east coast of Milos and choose the anchorage at Pollonia and drop in to this cute Cycladic fishing village for a beer.
After a great sail, we reach our last beach, the iconic Sarakiniko Beach. After struggling to anchor amongst a lot of rock, we finally find a nice patch of sand to drop the Mantus anchor and head in to get a closer look at this incredible place.
Words don’t do this place justice and we hope our video gives you a bit of an idea how incredible and unique Milos Island really is.
About us:
Our names are Jason and Tracey and we traded our house, cars, business, job and security for freedom, adventure, travel and living simply amongst nature and the seas on our 45 foot Hanse 445 sailing boat, Kawai. We don't know exactly where the winds will take us at this stage but over the next year we hope to sail to Turkey, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia. Jase loves making travel videos and we decided to upload to youtube to share our adventure. These beaches featured in the video are amazing. And since I know many beaches of Greece, Greece has truly so so many types of beaches. From virgin forested beaches, to beaches with mountains rising straight out of the water, or beaches in any color, geology, type, with village/town/city backdrop or some spectacular nature. It's just one kaleidoscope of 16.000 km of crystal clear beaches of all kinds. It's always amazing and every video reminds me again how beautiful this is

I did some sailing in Greece some few decades ago for work on charter boats of different types .Three thousand plus island there you could spend all your life there and still not see all the islands.Enjoyed . My ,50 year old 27 foot project boat might get to Greece in 2020.Kalinichta or good night in Greek

PS: Wonderful film footage. Because we like it so much, please hear our input (sic!) on a couple of points to make our fine viewing experience a gorgeous one 😉:
1. The sound quality will much improve if you could only invest in a separate mic with a "dead cat" wind protection. Not mentioning a wireless lavalier microphone so we can hear you both in high quality.
2. If you could introduce some narration on the places you visit (and Greece is so full of facts and legends and geography), it will bring a something extra to the viewers.

Hahahaha that's a mouthful, it's also rainy and cold in Marmaris :). Hahaha we appreciate all feedback as we are learning on the go. We do have a 'dead cat' but in windy conditions it still seems to leave an annoying sound. As for a wireless microphone will have to look into that one hahaha. We also love history, will try to add some more, thanks for the feedback and hope the weather improves in Luxembourg

It reminded us, of a village I have been going to in Austria for over 30 Yrs, in that it is tiny but we felt it was a place that would take a lifetime to really get to know. I did enjoy the video and I have to say It makes a really nice change from the fake drama and hype that we see on TV and some other RUclips channels.
Oh awesome, glad you loved it :). We love Symi, we spent 1 month there this time last year. Depending on the wind, we would change between Symi, Pedi and Panormitis, spent a lot of time in Panormitis due to the strong winter winds, beautiful place, hope to visit it again, take care, chat again soon!

Hey you two. My wife and I have really been enjoying your videos that have been improving leaps and bounds as time passes. You do a great job of showing the beauty of cruising and your editing is really starting to look professional IMO. You should be proud of yourselves! Hi guys, thanks so much, glad you are enjoying the vids. We originally planned to stay in Preveza, but due to VAT rules, decided to stay in Turkey over winter. We have just been lifted in Marmaris, have had some bad weather but all good. Yes I definitely recommend Milos, it's pretty remote but worth it. Hope the weather is treating you ok and hopefully catch up for a beer in the future :)

Just found your channel, Milos looks amazing and luckily not a flotilla of other boats. Which period were you there ? We plan to go there with our boat next year and we are flexible in when to go.
Dave we were in Milos late in the season, early November, it was really spectacular. The water was a little fresh but being the only boat in the anchorage was amazing :). Best of luck with the travels!
@@SailingKawai @Sailing Kawai November and still swimming, would not be for us. We currently live in the Caribbean, water is warmer here, moving next year to Europe again, will be an adjustment for us. Oh, if you think about sailing to the Caribbean I would recommend to forget it. Unless you want to anchor and visit every island in complete detail I would say that, other than the BVI up until the Bahama's it is not worth it. Normally very rough seas, 20 to 30 kts wind on average and difficult to make it back from the Caribbean to Europe.You are almost bound to continue to the Pacific. And did I mention the crime rate on the islands ?

I would definitely recommend it if you are in the cyclades next year, a little out of the way but worth it! We arrived on the 1st of November, saw maybe 3 boats the entire crossing of the Cyclades. We were pretty lucky as Italy/Spain/France were all getting smashed by bad weather. Over winter we are heading back to Australia to see family, we are just down the road from you, Kawai is in Marmaris on the hard. Just got her out of the water before the bad weather last week. Hey mate, yeah we were really lucky with the conditions, wish we could have stayed longer. Yeah I was watching the cyclades over summer (when we were in the ionian) and it looked pretty windy almost every day :). We are wintering in Turkey, what are your plans for next season? Congrats on the channel btw, killing it! Might see each other in the Med, would be great to catch up for a beer :)
Sailing Kawai Thanks! My plan is no plan :) I might just hang out more in the aegean sea or sail the wes coast of Greece. I may need to drop by Albany for tax reasons. Could have done the same in Turkey but don’t want to go there, but maybe :)

We sailed Greece last winter however heading back to Australia for a few months. Sounds good mate, will keep a look out! Enjoy :)

Hey John, it was really out of season, we only saw 1 other yacht crossing the Cyclades so he had very little on offer hahaha, still a nice place with a great view :)

Katie (12) and I finished our cruising season in October. Our last night at anchor was in Asi Koyu. We ate at the restaurant on the beach there, and fiund a similar situation - out of most things. Katie had to make 3 choices for her main ! I understand, and agree why 😊

Watching from a hotel room in Riyadh KSA on business trip, Ive lived in Dubai for some 14 years and watch you form there typically, I am a sailor from Australia Gold Coast originally. Working to relocate my life onboard and ring it in from more tropical locations rather than the desert. Other great video thank you.

When you leave Marmaris you can go to Ciftlik( I saw some bad storm that destroyed the docking area couple of days ago) and if you want to try the best octopus sail to Söğüt. It's not far and you'll never regret it. We are coming in April but seems endless time till then 😕. You gonna take Kawai up from water this winter?
Hi Andrei, great to hear from you! We were actually anchored in Ciftlik last week, I hadn't heard the news of the damage but witnessed the bad weather a couple of days ago, huge seas and strong winds. We were lifted on Saturday just before the storms arrived and will spend the European winter in Australia for summer :). Thanks for the tips, we also plan to return to Marmaris in April, hope to see you on the water! Hope you enjoyed the video!
Out of curiosity what was the cost for lift out and in and storage in Marmeras . I ask as my sister lives 30 miles away at the airport region in Daliman.If my 50 year old project 27 foot boat gets away from ireland in 2020 I might go there end of the season and do the same thing winter the boat there and go by air to Trinidad for the winter

Depends on time frame, but for 6 months (45 foot) 3500 euros includes lift and storage on the hard, price is always changing , we just emailed the marina and we had a quote within 24 hours. Hope that helps.

It's called "Kleftiko" and yes it's accessible only by boat, but there's a lot of them in Milos ports for daily cruises.

Hi and hope all is well with you also :). We headed back to Australia for Christmas to spend some time with family and friends and have really enjoyed the summer. Our boat is in Turkey, we will start releasing new videos next week, but are a little stuck currently regarding Corona virus, so not 100% sure of when we will be leaving Australia :(. Still have so much sailing to do :)

Hi Bryan, yes everything is going great :). We are still in Australia having visited friends and family for summer and with the current Corona virus we are a little unsure of our plans for this sailing season (Visas and entry). Our boat is in Turkey on the hard. We will be releasing another video early next week as we still have many to show, with our journey across the cyclades to Turkey :).
