Awww yay!! Love seeing the colours you pulled together here! And love that clip of the wall of Tough Love Sock from Around the Table Yarns! Makes me so happy to see it! ✨ thanks for using our yarns!
I made my dad a cream wool traditional Aran cardigan, which he wore all over Europe for some weeks. When he got it home, it was still sort of cream and did not look dirty at all. I love a cardi because you can unbutton it and let it fly open to cool off. Or snuggle into it.
That's a beautiful choice of colours. They would look great on you! My vote would be for the cardigan - I think the solid button band really sets off the combo of other colours.
Those colours are SO gorgeous. I also vote for cardigan - I love the idea of a "grounding" colour in the button band and I think it will make all those colours pop even more!
I have recently started viewing your site. I appreciate your calm way of addressing your audience and the issues you are covering. As a larger guy it is great to see someone who gets so much done. My biggest anxiety moments come with starting due to the length of time the project will take, as well. I am doing my first sport weight yarn sweater and it’s going to take me a looooong time. That said, I am committed to finishing this project. Thanks for sharing your “anxieties” with us.
I think the cardigan is the best choice for you, but would choose another colour then black for the buttonband. It would make it look cheap, if you know what I mean?
I'm knitting a scrappy seaglass jumper from scrap yarn I bought off a hand dyer. It brings me such joy to pick out the random colours as I go. I want to do a rainbow fade with the mini skeins I have for the tee. I love the colour chaos but it goes with my 'substitute art teacher' vibe. My friend did a seaglass jumper in all neutrals with a very effect.
I'm no help. I love every one of the colors and imagine them all together. Jewels! The stocking looks fantastic. Best wishes to you, Ned and your families for a wonderful adventure and trip..
There is a fair isle designer who does quick color swatches by wrapping the colors around a piece of cardboard to see how the colors work together. That might be a good thing to try.
I've also had this design on my to do list. I think what makes it so appealing to me is the all over sparkle of the random colour work and so I would do it in scrap yarns personally. I know that's not for everyone. A big design feature is the way a light coloured yarn is paired with a dark on each row, and then it's reversed on the next row so you really get the light bouncing... hence the name "Seaglass". When you choose a main colour to do every row so that there's consistency, you may get a great sweater, but you won't get the sea glass effect. I'm sure yours will be a gorgeous sweater no matter what you do as your yarns are amazing!
The names of your Tough Love Sock colors are so expressive! The names are as beautiful as the yarns themselves. Looking forward to seeing your sweater. I never “need to knit” another project, but I always “want to knit” another project. Thus is my storage issue. Too many sweaters!😂😂😂
Love your yarn colours (all of the jeweltones!). I'm not much of a scrappy project person either so your comments really resonated about controlling the colours. I think that's also why I would make the cardigan, so there is a solid colour focal point. Can't wait to see whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be amazing!
LOVE LOVE LOVE your color pallet for the Sea Glass Sweater! I’m going to throw a wrench in the decision-making process and vote for the pullover, lol. But I think you’ll enjoy either one. My main recommendation is to consider what you’ll most likely want to wear with the finished sweater. I feel like cardigans sometimes limit the tops I’ll want to wear with it because of color-combos, fabrics, cut, etc..
I like the skeins you picked of the new colors with Atlantis. You are going to be with this project for a while. You will complete your project to the first hints of autumn. A brass adds a good range. Your input to do a swatch is a great idea.
Hello Mark and Scout! I prefer the pullover as I do not wear cardigans. You could scatter the increases so they do not make a line in the rows. Love, love, LOVE those colors! for stash-busting, I make hats, scarves, or baskets and I stick with one color family at a time, so warm colors held double with brown or jewel tones held double with black. Today I am working on a school-color scarf for a teenager in foster care.
I vote for cardigan. For a slouchy comfortable year round option. I think the v neck, collar, button band and exposed shirt will tie it together and add interest. Love your yarn choices!! Hi Meagan!
I've had my eye on the Sea Glass sweater since it came out. Just saw the photos for the cardigan today. Either one will be lovely. I guess if it were me I'd decide based on which one I thought I'd wear more. Of course, after you make one you might love it so much that you end up making the other as well.
Mark another note about something you commented on. I understand what you mean about anxiety before you start a project. I am the same way. Then again, we invest so much time, effort and $ on the project. We want to make sure we’re going to love it. I’m right there with you. Sometimes it’s so frustrating, isn’t it? Everything you make is always gorgeous though. Not always the case with me. Lol
I asked a member of my family about Corwall: "We aren't very familiar with Cornwall (I've yet to visit!) However, I know that Landsend is said to be fabulous. Poldark was filmed there, as was Doc Martin. They must each eat a Cornish Pasty and have scones and tea!!!, and explore the history of Tin Mining. It's very touristy, but beautiful."
Cardigan is my vote too. Love the Christmas stocking you’ve started. Good job on the pronunciation of Scheepjes. My cousin had to teach me like; Are you running away? “Escape yes!” Your planning for the yarn and projects on this upcoming trip is a little overwhelming to me! It would make me nuts if I had to do it! And then I would break all of the rules… yes, do a podcast with Megan! It seems to me I laughed at the two of you dancing across a lawn somewhere…
I think I prefer the cardigan version, with the shawl collar. I like that it is V-necked and the increases aren't as obvious. Also, faux knitting in the round and no weaving in ends sounds the bomb. Great idea for a KAL?!? I would like to use stash plus a John Arbon DK red as MC. Maybe I like a more random scrappy look for the surprise factor.
Jump Mark Jump! I love your colors. I treated myself to a yarn advent that will arrive in time to be opened each day of December leading up to Christmas. It’s a big investment for me and I’m so excited . This might just be the perfect project to use the 25 minis on. Thanks for sharing
Dearest Mark, my vote is to go with the cozy cardigan , just think of the fun buttons you could also put on it ! I live in Alberta and I visit my son in Vancouver BC, which is only a 20 min. drive from Sweetgeorgia's :D.
I am currently knitting the Kerr sweater by Rebecca Clow and I am truly enjoying it. I don’t knit on it every day because I’m hoping to finish it for fall. The one that has my attention right now. Every day is her Tulsta tee and it is a wonderful knit to have while my husband is driving or we are watching a movie, can’t wait to see your finished knits!!!
Definitely cardigan…! You have so many pullovers, but I sense a lack of cardigans in your wardrobe??? Love the yarn colors you’ve chosen, too. And, I LOVE how your Christmas stocking is turning out.
The Sea Glass patterns have been on my radar for a while. When the cardigan version came out, I knew I was going to cast on. I have lots of sport weight scraps from previous projects and I bought some cream coloured yarn for the edgings and to carry throughout. I can’t wait to see what you decide to do.
Love love love your colour choices and I agree with the majority opinions that the cardigan would be better. For all the reasons you already considered yourself but specifically because of the odd looking neckline on the jumper.
So cool, that the green yarn in the stokkings is a Dutch brand. So also something of Europe in the stokkings. Scheepjes means ships in English, it is a very old yarn brand. Everygirl has learned knitting in the old days up to the 1970 at school with Scheepjes yarn. Creabea was pronounced perfect by you. I hope you have a great trip together.
I love cardigans. I have been looking at the Seaglass Cardigan pattern and would love to knit it but, of course, the difficulty is committing to the colors. I absolutely love your color choices. 😊
So excited to see this project develop. Love the cardigan. I have some mini skeins of multi colored yarn i think might be perfect for the toddler version. You’ve inspired me. Don’t forget to heed the label warning and prewash your skeins before starting a color work project. Oops - i wrote my note before finishing the video. I see you’ve wound the cakes.
Your color choices are gorgeous! You might consider using two strands of the fingering held together to create a DK weight yarn. It will make the project progress more quickly and eliminate the need to do math to arrive at the correct size. If you take this path, you could abandon the color work scheme (1 stitch in A, 1 stitch in B, 1 stitch in A, 1 stitch in B, etc.) and instead, create interesting play on color by the way you hold two different colors together. That is, Round One holding color A+B together; Round Two holding C+D, Round Three holding A+C etc. Just an idea. 🙂 No matter what you decide, your colors are truly beautiful...you'll have a lovely garment in the end.
Like you, I have been eyeing the Sea Glass sweater for a while. When the cardigan came out I really loved it. I definitely switched to the cardigan as my choice when I read that the cardigan provides a solution to the problem of having all those ends to weave in.
I have knitted two pullover versions, and they look like completely different sweaters. I used Berroco Vintage baby for one and Anzula Squishy skeinettes which I held double with variegated Silkpaca. I started the one with the Squishy skeinettes and decided not to use the neon or brighter greens of that particular group of colors. I don't notice the increases resulting in knit stitches not lined up vertically, perhaps because the color change is the noticeable thing. I love the sweaters and the fact that they go with any outfit. I received the hat pattern free from Wool & Pine. The only thing that bothers me a little is the knot connections, which I (maybe unnecessarily) dabbed with NoFray. I think the vertical line formed by the cardigan button band may suit you well.
I am leaning towards the cardi. For the colors I was thinking of carrying one color from the row to the next. Like row 1 is green then blue, row 2 would be blue then red, row 3 red the yellow and so on. That way there wouldn't be a MC but the colors and placement would flow together. I love listening to you while I craft and think a podcast would be great, that way I would get more done instead of having to stop and see what beautiful things you are showing the😂.
I'm so glad they released a cardigan version! I'm a larger person and I vote for the cardigan - as you said it breaks it up and I think looks better on larger people. At least for myself, I feel as if it makes my chest look immense if not broken up with either pattern or the opening of a cardigan. These little microstripes read as a solid when I think of how it will look on my body. I love the colors you chose and either a pullover or cardigan will be great!
I love the colors you have chosen. Each one is comparable to the others in depth, and none of the colors fights with any of the others. The variation from light to dark in each skein seems like it will give you the planned randomness it needs to keep it interesting without giving you any glaring surprises. I look forward to seeing how this turns out.
I prefer the cardigan... And I like the idea of rotating the colors by one, it'll use the colors evenly... I LOVE "equinox", autumnal colors are the best. 😉

Now I love this colour a lot! Your garment gonna be amazing with colours you've got. Can't wait to see it.
I love the pullover. But as a cardigan I like you can pair it with sooo many things as an outerwear. Since for myself I like to wear mostly solid colors and the cardigan would be nice
I saw you talking about this sweater in your packing for the UK video and had to go back and watch the whole saga (in reverse order 😂). Love all your content, you’ve got amazing chill vibes!
Cardigan! The colors of Sweet Georgia you have there are incredible- I want them too!! Pam showed them Monday night on Around the Table Yarns Instagram Live and boom, you took them home. I can't wait to see the swatch.
Okay when you bounced Scout it went with the music and I was all about that moment 😂. I have this sweater on my favorites, excited about it but want to hear what you say! Actually I have the tee in my faves
Thanks for sharing those colours.... that green might match something in my stash..... think I need to go into Sweet Gerogia (might just be a localish store....) as that green might be perfect with some CapeBretton hand dyed fabric I got for christmas
I vote for the cardigan, and with the colors you have, it’ll be absolutely gorgeous! Just curious, have you knitted anything for your kitties? Wearable or blanket?
I love the cardigan and I LOVE the color palette! And I would absolutely support a podcast, maybe make it Patreon-based!! Then you wouldn't have to censor it ;)
Omg, I LOVE the colors you put together! How do you think the variegation will translate in the 1x1 colorwork? I'm planning to knit the cardigan as well! I'm going to use it as a stash buster. I get what you say about it being "jumbled" if used as a stash buster, but tbh, I have a color palette. EVERYTHING I knit is blue, grey, white, black, just a bit of yellow. Very boring, but it is what it is. I've only been knitting for a year, and I can't wait what my leftover will look like in the sea glass cardi. Maybe I should knit one each year, I'm known to change color palettes in my clothes every year.
Awww yay!! Love seeing the colours you pulled together here! And love that clip of the wall of Tough Love Sock from Around the Table Yarns! Makes me so happy to see it! ✨ thanks for using our yarns!
Wow, thank you for being here - and for creating such fabulous yarn for all of us crafters!
I vote for Cardigan, I think will suit you very well and can be combined with different shirts and trousers types❤
I made my dad a cream wool traditional Aran cardigan, which he wore all over Europe for some weeks. When he got it home, it was still sort of cream and did not look dirty at all. I love a cardi because you can unbutton it and let it fly open to cool off. Or snuggle into it.
You’ve chosen the (muted) colours of the rainbow! How beautiful.
That's a beautiful choice of colours. They would look great on you! My vote would be for the cardigan - I think the solid button band really sets off the combo of other colours.
I like the cardigan better. I like that the band is solid and breaks up all the colors. Love the colors you picked. It’ll be gorgeous either way u go
Beautiful colours. I think the cardigan would be best. ❤
Those colours are SO gorgeous. I also vote for cardigan - I love the idea of a "grounding" colour in the button band and I think it will make all those colours pop even more!
Your color combo is superb! SGY's tonals are beautiful, rich, deep.
I have recently started viewing your site. I appreciate your calm way of addressing your audience and the issues you are covering. As a larger guy it is great to see someone who gets so much done. One vote for the cardigan. I agree with you about the button band.
I think the cardigan is the best choice for you, but would choose another colour then black for the buttonband. It would make it look cheap, if you know what I mean?
Love the colours you chose and the green is 🔥 it brings out the green tones in some of the other colours. I vote for the cardigan. 😊
The colors you picked are amazing!! That green-chef’s kiss!! I like the cardigan but either will be beautiful!! Can’t wait to see the swatch.
I’m obsessed with the green…. Uhhh the brass is so pretty too
Those colors…….!!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ and I say cardigan.
I'm knitting a scrappy seaglass jumper from scrap yarn I bought off a hand dyer. It brings me such joy to pick out the random colours as I go. I want to do a rainbow fade with the mini skeins I have for the tee.

I think you will get more from the cardigan. I can’t wait to see your color combos. Beautiful yarn.

GORGEOUS colors, all of them.
Thanks!
Love your show. Keep it up Mark. Luv ya. I soooo love the Christmas stocking. You are so talented.

Hi Meagan!
I love that your colours are a moody rainbow! You should lean into that and order your colours by the rainbow.
I love the seaglass patterns and have been wanting to do it too.
Cardigan- it’s such an easy wear ❤
Your colours are absolutely gorgeous, especially love the bright green.
I've had my eye on the Sea Glass sweater since it came out. Just saw the photos for the cardigan today. Either one will be lovely. Cardigan. Have fun with colors.

I would go with the cardigan! More snuggly💜

I like the cardigan....more versatile
Definitely going to be knitting the cardigan now! ❤
Cardigan,it's a more flattering design, plus the collar adds interest to the project.Great choice of colours!
Cardigan. Have fun on your trip.
I loooove those colors together! i hope i can find something similar in cotton!
You should totally do the cardigan :D
I am currently knitting the Kerr sweater by Rebecca Clow and I am truly enjoying it. I don’t knit on it every day because I’m hoping to finish it for fall. The one that has my attention right now. I think you will be happy with the cardigan, which shows different impressions with a inner T-shirt .
I love cardigans. I have been looking at the Seaglass Cardigan pattern and would love to knit it but, of course, the difficulty is committing to the colors. I absolutely love your color choices. 😊

Like you, I have been eyeing the Sea Glass sweater for a while. When the cardigan came out I really loved it. I definitely switched to the cardigan as my choice when I read that the cardigan provides a solution to the problem of having all those ends to weave in.
The seaglass tee is fingering weight. It may be easier to adapt that into a sweater by adding long sleeves than change the gauge of the DK patterns.
If you do the pullover you can steek a front opening and add a button band.
I am leaning towards the cardi. For the colors I was thinking of carrying one color from the row to the next. Like row 1 is green then blue, row 2 would be blue then red, row 3 red the yellow and so on. That way there wouldn't be a MC but the colors and placement would flow together. Wow! They look so different when you hold them up; beautiful!
I think you should do the cardigan. I love how it breaks up the pattern in the front,
I like the cardigan. You can pair it with so many colors!
Love your colours, hope you pick the cardigan. Taia
I am on a teal and red jag so Odyssey and Gemini are my faves! I love them all though!
Amazing colors, cardigan is what I vote for.
I’m firmly on Team Cardigan 😊-I think it will look great on you! Especially with those gorgeous colours!
I vote cardigan, but both patterns are lovely.
I can hardly wait to see when you get back from your trip to see those projects! Don’t forget to shop for yarn!
Those colours are gorgeous and will make a stunning sweater! I vote for pullover as I'm not a cardigan person 🧶
Whatever you choose, enjoy it!
Oh my gosh Mark. Those colors!!! ❤
I vote cardigan!
I would love to see your beautiful yarn choice realized as the cardigan. So handsome!
I vote for the cardigan and I love the colors. I now want the same colors for one.
14:04 This shade of green is the best! I never liked green before, but then I noticed that this shade of green, if added to a palette of any other colours (especially the moodie ones), makes whole thing look juicy and alive. Now I love this colour a lot! Your garment gonna be amazing with colours you've got. Can't wait to see it.
My vote would be cardigan. What if you used a medium grey or maybe a dusty blue color instead of the black in every row to lighten it up a little.
Cardigan I know I prefer cardigan for the same reasons you already brought up for a person of a larger size.
I can't wait to see your swatch
I love the pullover. But as a cardigan I like you can pair it with sooo many things as an outerwear. Since for myself I like to wear mostly solid colors and the cardigan would be nice
Team Cardigan 😊
Do both!!!!!!
Gorgeous yarn, Mark! Love the colors and I think fingering weight will look more refined!
Thanks for sharing those colours.... that green might match something in my stash.....
think I need to go into Sweet Gerogia (might just be a localish store....) as that green might be perfect with some CapeBretton hand dyed fabric I got for christmas
Oh lovely!
Cardigan.
I vote for the cardigan, and with the colors you have, it’ll be absolutely gorgeous!
Just curious, have you knitted anything for your kitties? Wearable or blanket?
I like the cardi Mark. A little more versatile too. Although, do you wear more pullovers??? I am a big cardigan fan (living in Florida).
I love the cardigan and I LOVE the color palette! And I would absolutely support a podcast, maybe make it Patreon-based!! Then you wouldn't have to censor it ;)
Cardigan
Omg, I LOVE the colors you put together! How do you think the variegation will translate in the 1x1 colorwork?
I'm planning to knit the cardigan as well! I'm going to use it as a stash buster. I get what you say about it being "jumbled" if used as a stash buster, but tbh, I have a color palette. EVERYTHING I knit is blue, grey, white, black, just a bit of yellow. Very boring, but it is what it is. I've only been knitting for a year, and I can't wait what my leftover will look like in the sea glass cardi.
