@lockedine, if you mean “cult” in the pejorative sense of a group formed to propagate a doctrine one may disagree with, he was bad at leading such a cult, because - unlike many self-made, lightweight, so-called “gurus” - he did not accumulate personal wealth or crave luxuries, he never exploited his disciples, and his personal life was always beyond reproach. If you mean “cult” in the approbative sense of a particular sense of religious worship for which individuals express their admiration as they participate in its sacred rituals - hearing its received philosophy, chanting its hymns of praise to the Lord, remembering its holy scriptures delineating His activities, serving Him, worshipping His authorized form, engaging in prayer, following His express requests, becoming His friend and giving everything in one’s life a sacred purpose, he was a cult leader par excellence. Although Śrīla Prabhupāda has now passed from our view, his authentic instructions live on, and I count myself very fortunate to have been accepted by him as a disciple.
we forget that he left India with support and a calendar of conferences already organized in various Indian associations and groups of yoga students .... he never went hungry, and he did not lack the slightest support from India
