    That's not even the deepest Geoff Castellucci can hit. Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold is a must hear for anyone who enjoys bass singing. My Mother Told Me is another one.

      Heh heh… that first sentence. Giggity

    • @eolsunder

      yep this was the deepest Geoff could hit at that time, but this song was done a while ago when he was still learning, he had to learn to do deep growl which he didn't know about before and learned after hearing Tim from Home Free doing it. Even after years he still has a lot of work to do. His later videos he's better and can go lower than the E1 he hit here.

      @mityakiselev Год назад +2

      Fun fact: the lowest note he hits in the Misty Mountains Cold cover is a G1, and the last note here was an E1, so here is lower. Literally the lowest note there is on a contrabass or a 4-string bass guitar. However, he hits the G1 in chest voice, he can even hit an F#1 in chest, which is amazing. Anything he sings below that is a subharmonic, so not as clear and meaty of a sound, but really cool nonetheless. The foghorn note in My Mother Told Me was an F1, I think. My mans reaches a C#1 in the Skyrim Dragonborn song, a B0 in Valhalla Calling and Halo, and an A0 in Enemy (literally the lowest note there is on a grand piano keyboard and no one ever uses it) - all as subharmonics. He can technically go lower in vocal fry (down to at least C#0, at least that's where he once reached on video, and probably lower), but it quickly starts becoming less and less pronounced since it sounds more like fast clicking at this point, so he doesn't usually go lower than B0

    Geoff Castellucci's lowest recorded note so far is B0 on the Halo Theme song - and he does it twice. It's amazing.

      I believe his lowest subharmonic is an A0 in the "Enemy" cover, and his lowest recorded note ever is a mind-blowing C#0, but as a fry

    If you want a better representation of their actual voices (not character), Boy Bands in 5 m ins, Queen in 5 mins, etc. Though they do have a new member (two of these guys are gone now) and you can hear the new member and guest on Hoist the Colours.

    Voice Play has the nickname 'Theater Nerds' because they often dress up and do almost theatrical presentations. The 'Big 3' are PTX, Home Free and Voice Play. The VP bass, Geoff Castellucci, also has his own channel on RUclips where you can see him sing with himself in harmony. With a near 5 octave range, he, Tim Foust of Home Free, and Avi Kaplan (formerly of PTX and a classically trained operatic bass and composer) are 3 of the best popular bass singers in a LONG time. Check out Avi's Change on the Rise. He wrote and sang most of the parts. His music has a spiritual quality to it, and his voice is amazing.

    If you want to hear a live voiceplay video there are 2 videos that most watch . There's a skit style thing they did for the show the sing off . It's called voiceplay roadtrip it features there old member Tony and is multiple songs to tell a story about a roadtrip . The other is voiceplay Elvira . Geoff (the bass) actually put together and made homefrees version of Elvira which they preformed with the oak ridge boys . Because of this voiceplays version of Elvira might sound a little similar to home frees version at some parts .

    Unfortunately there aren't a lot of live performances to see for them on RUclips. There is one of this song, but the recording is terrible. They have done some ridiculous songs lately like hoist the colours and Halo theme which are certainly studio polished but unbelievable to listen to.

      @@samhilton4173 Not all of their videos are like this, but most of my favorites are, to be fair. No need to watch the videos. You can just listen to the beautiful harmonies.

    Hope u react to more Voiceplay covers, "Billie Eilish in 3 Minutes", "Panic! at the Disco in 4 Minutes Part 1 & 2", "Queen in 5 Minutes" and "Boy Bands in 5 Minutes" are all really great Medleys. Also "Daddy Sang Bass", "Survivor (feat. Home Free)" and "My Mother told me" are three of my personal favourites
    Edit: Almost forgot about "The Little Mermaid Medley" and "Moana Medley". There are just too many great Voiceplay covers

    So strange, I had just listened to Voiceplay's Oogie Boogie for the second time when I came upon your reaction to the same song. Jeff Castellucci also does a Monster Mash cover in which he is the only singer. They have quite a bit of cover releases that I will enjoy listening and watching to.

  • @janetdw

    Because they are self produced there aren’t a lot of recordings of their live performances and most of those have been recorded either through a cell phone or an amateur videographer and the sound quality just is not there. Prior to Covid they pretty much just toured except for a few seasonal recordings. But once Covid hit and they could no longer tour they pretty much do videos and they’ve had the chance to really polish their arrangements and amp up their production values. So as good as these guys are they may not be someone you will really enjoy simply because you prefer the live performances.

    To be fair I think you cas write it either way, acapella or a capella. Literally it means in "as in chapel" meaning without instrumental accompaniment. I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as you know what it means. :) Geoff works hard on his voice, try some of his solo performances, or group things from VoicePlay. They used to do touring, live, but Covid put paid to that. Now they mostly work from home. But there is very little done in edit - which they do themselves. They don't always do theatrical videos but do some great ones, and most of them have worked for Disney in the past. Of the three main a capella groups. VoicePlay are the most theatrical. It's their thing, you might say. Oh, maybe try Warriros, when Layne the vocal percussion and J.None also play violin, which means not strictly a cappela, but most of it is. Oh and Blackbird will let you hear a large part of Geoff's range.

  • @theaffiliate4208
    @theaffiliate4208 Месяц назад

    Of course Voiceplay is theatrical. They're based on Orlando, Florida and has access to voice actors and performers from Universal and Disney.

    Now all you are missing is Voctave & I have forgotten the group in Scandinavia. Then you could get into the large groups. The problem is with Choir Noir in the UK & Perpetuum Jazzile in Slovenia is they are basically choirs. Keep on going into the world virtual choirs with thousands of member. Voice play does have a lot of stage sets in their music. Not all but a lot of it.
