- Apart from the airboat section that made me queasy, I had a grand time with this mod and editing it just made me want to play more. Even with some jankiness, particularly with the platforming and the swimming, the actual gameplay is crazy fun, and seeing all the cool moments in Half Life 2 brought to VR is incredible. Also really helped me notice things I've never seen before. Enjoy!

Took inspiration from GTA V or maybe elsewhere? That's a mechanic almost NO ONE uses any more. Heard the other day someone followed someone else for like a fucking hour JUST to give them the bird in GTO. Now that's humor.

@@BlackMoonHowls Probably not. Being able to flip the bird is stranded in VR games that support controllers with finger-tracking. Since, well, if you raise only your middle finger, you'll naturally be giving the bird. They probably added a dedicated mechanic for controllers that don't support finger-tracking so players using these controllers can do it too! The question is if the game responds to it or not. _Aperture Hand Lab_ for example has one of the personality cores respond with "That is a one! The most unfriendly of ones!" if the player flips them off when asked to do a high-five.

I wish it was a case of some of the old FPS games (Boom Shoot games) where reloading is TOO slow and just press the kick or punch button and mitigate all that.
I remember when I first played that game (one of the Modern Warfare's, right?) And hearing that line so many times. Me and my dad would joke about it, and something told me "this is prime meme material".

I know that Half life is SUPPOSED to sound like this, but... All the source SFX just make this game sound like a meme to me. The exploding barrels, the sound of switching equipment, getting healed... It's so weird getting like, flashbacks to just...So many terrible, wonderful compilations of the strangest things the internet has made.
It’s the same for me with so many of the assets. Like the half life barrels are like to me the default barrel I forgot that they actually came from a video game. Or the crowbar just so many assets that turn up in every other animation on RUclips.

for me the sounds make it feel so nostalgic. i played a shit ton of gmod back in the day and played half life 2 with the episodes too ofcourse. so creepy and amazing to be able to experience in that world in vr now

Jolly Wangcore. Not going to lie, he's great. He plays all those source mods and fan maps. Map Labs is some of my FAVORITE videos.
It translates so well to VR, like just a smidgen more interaction and its near perfect. Source is perfect for VR and it makes me excited to see more.

I mean A++ for accuracy to the game, For some reason Valve never added shell casings to the HL2 Guns.
There is shell casings on the guns though.
@@WhatIsLove170 Player gun's don't leave any shell casings and some don't produce any shell casing's at all when fired, Most NPC Gun's do fire out casings and leave the casings though.
@@Bruh-d The only gun that doesn't show casings ejecting is the usp match, all other guns that should show ejecting casings, do show it. I dont know about casings on the ground though.
@@WhatIsLove170 Yeah I'm tired and dumb, I know the Spas-12 leaves it's 12 gauge shells but I think smaller calibers don't leave any casings on the ground, The SMG I think doesn't leave any shell casings when you fire it (that you can see anyway in first person) But some other guns don't eject the casings like the Revolver and AR2.
@@Bruh-d The ar2 doesn't fire bullets so it wouldn't eject casings, and revolvers dont eject casings, you can see the casings emptied on the reload animation for the gun.

8:35 that's actually more or less how sights work in real life. You're supposed to align your sights with your target so your target is just above the front post, and not behind it. It might be a bit exaggerated on this mod, but the intention is right.
Partially correct. Speaking by experience the glock 17/19/24 are “military sighted” which is behind the front sight “on target”. But some guns still have traditional sights which is just above. Just depends on the weapon.
This absolutely makes my day a million times better as I’m going through my yearly half life phase and watching Rimmy play it in any way makes it great

The sights are using the American principle of putting your target on top of the sight instead of covering the target with the sight I think. That's why it looks high.

There's a VR mod for Garry's Mod and that's what I've been using for HL2 VR. It's more polished in some aspects (the pistol's slide is smoothly animated rather than being a button for example) and may be worth doing a comparison to

All quest NPC in the game can die, Alyx, Grigory, etc. they just have really fast health regeneration, 2 or 3 explosive barrel going off at the same time should be enough to kill them, or 3~4 combines shooting at them at the same time

If you get motion sickness from those more intense things like the airboat, you can buy ginger root for like 2 dollars a pound and eat/swallow half a small spoon's worth chopped/diced up 30 minutes before playing VR and you'll be protected from queasiness for 4 hours of play. I get motion sickness quickly from VR and ginger makes me feel practically immune, so it should work for you in stuff like driving/airboat.
4:50 VR doesnt buff the MP7 from what I know. But considering MP7 is more accurate than HL1 smg it makes sense

Oh, my God. I played through for 90 minutes a couple of days ago and never once thought to just grab a barrel and use it as a shield. Nor did I realize that I could just stay behind cover and fire the gun around corners. I just played it as though I was in front of a flat screen, as always.
This has changed things forever.
PRE AIM THROW WAS A THING!?!?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! I couldn't for the life of me get the grenades into the sniper nests. When I had to save Barney I had to toss a grenade on the ground, quickly switched to the gravity gun, picked it up and launched it into the nest.

This is the problem about VR games as a whole. They are so hand holding and reserved when they should just be like any other game, BUT IN VR.
Also a gravity gun in VR sounds like the most fun thing possible.
