Jorma was standing over there by the open door, SUNY, I said to myself, what could I say to him, so I spoke to Jack, I remember that in like 1975, New Paltz, like new York state,
The framing on the interview looks almost manipulated, Scott is a giant of a man physically and this is almost like watching someone who has overcome a disability in that his questions, demeanor, and sincerity is so incredibly warm. Jorma is a gift, just being where he was in the greater vibration of history, if you will, was difficult if you just consider the male ego of the lead guitarist of the era of his youth. Truly, a phenomenal artist, Quah is an accomplishment of a lifetime all by itself. Then play Serpent of Dreams to rock out! And that’s a life away from JA. (I loved the positive comments about Paul Kantner in this interview.
I enjoy hot tuna much more than Jefferson airplane... jormas epic vocals and guitar playing and jacks awesome bass riffs, it doesn’t get much better. Great interview.
Absolutely loved this book. Been a big Jorma fan for a long, long time. I purchased the book to hear about the stories behind the music of the Airplane and Hot Tuna but ended up loving and RELATING to this man's life story in many ways when it comes to substance abuse. So happy you shook the demon Jorma and your story is a beautiful inspiration to people like me. I don't know you personally but I feel like I can call you friend. Thank you.
beautifully said .. was one of the best books ... he’s truly a gentleman .. colorful and insightful ... this was much more than a fun and informative experience ... it was an HONOR
I love it when you talk like that. we give up protecting false ego then we can move ahead quickly. maybe God has put out a special dispensation for us hippy kids to bridge the gap. in any case, it sounds like we are in the same cycle. and many others whom life has taught unblemished honesty born of self-examination.
Thanks Karl ... truly appreciate that !! this was such an honor for me ... he’s just a pleasure to talk with .. so smart .. so deep .. yet so humble .. and so witty and funny ... he’s an all time favorite and was a thrill to just say thanks for all the music that calmed me in some very turbulent angst full times
This might be the best, down to earth interview I've ever seen with a "rock celebrity" . Jorma's self awareness is amazing and he's not rewriting history as many who gained their fame from that era do. I could write a book on what he's talking about, such as the over processing of today's "perfect" music both in the studio AND on stage, which IMHO, is crap when making a comparison.
thank Jim .. that’s high praise .. I’m grateful for your kind words .. but it’s Jorma .. man that guy is so incredibly down to earth and real .. a gentleman .. a class act .. a the way !! I’m still simply honored for the chance to talk with him in this setting and depth .. and to hang !! thanks for taking the tone to watch .. and the time to comment !! I appreciate it
Just stumbled upon this great interview with Jorma! Is your podcast available on Stitcher or which platforms? Are you still doing it? Your interview was excellent. Much better than the usual. You ask your question and let the subject speak. That's great interviewing technique! Have been really enjoying the quarantine concerts. Hope you have two and hope you are safe and well wherever you are.
thanks brother ... this is such fun .. and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be able to have conversations like this ... glad you enjoyed it ... more good stuff to come !! ✌️

I had no idea Jack wrote the charts for the Airplane to collect royalties. Such a cool insight. Great interview, love Jorma
