Yes her voice is beautiful but her lyricism is what makes her phenomenal, especially when you know the context - her life’s work being sold out from underneath her to someone who actively bullied and tried to break her 💔
Hey! new to your channel but the full version of the long pond sessions is amazing, if you do any more of them please get the versions with the little explanation beforehand. It would give someone totally new to taylor a bit of backstory! This is about her old manager scott borchetta who she was super close to for years, who she left & he sold her masters to scooter braun. But the explanation beforehand is worth seeing even if its not on screen xx
Back story: Taylor’s former label was started by Scott Borchetta, and she was his first client. They spent years together building each other’s careers and investing in each other both professionally and personally. They were like family to each other. She wanted to buy her masters but he agreed only if she agreed to a shit deal that would prolong the process and keep her tied to the label, so she walked away. In retaliation, he sold her catalog of masters to some dude named Scooter who had a history of bullying Taylor. It was a betrayal to her. “You turned into your worst fears” was because he had originally created the label because he didn’t like how major labels ran their business. “You hear my stolen lullabies” are her first six albums that she is reclaiming through re-recording them.
@@GOTGamesFolklore has lots of sadness relating to the loss of her albums. Her music is so personal and deep that losing access to her masters must have hurt so much Another interesting take on this song is that each line of the chorus relates to each of her stolen albums I didn’t have it in myself to go with Grace (State of Grace - Red) And your the hero flying around saving face (Superman - Speak Now) And if I’m dead to you why are you at the wake (LWYMMD - Reuptation) Cursing my name (TWYLM - Fearless), wishin I stayed (AYHTDWS - 1989) Look at how my tears ricochet (Teardrops on my Guitar - debut) Loving your reactions. Thank you for being so open minded
Learn the stories behind these songs, it’s pure poetry. Her lullabies were her stolen songs - her manager sold her songs without telling her at all. He had been with her since she was about 13 so it really hurt her. That song is letting him know - her tears - hurt her but they will also, hurt him.
Track 5 of every album is what Taylor considers her most emotional songs on each album. Any time you see track 5 on one of her songs, be forewarned that you *will* be hit in the feels. Love your reactions and I'm glad to see yet another creator realize how amazing Taylor is as an artist
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but Folklore was her first pandemic album. She wrote the whole thing (17 tracks) with producers Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff in 4 months, and they recorded it separately in their homes. She surprised dropped it, no one knew it was coming. She told her label a week before it dropped. Its very different to what she had done before. Later that year, the same team surprise dropped the sister album, Evermore. So 2 new albums dropped in 2020, with a whole new sound. They are stunning, and part of the reason she's become so popular. This studio session is on Disney Plus. Its her, Jack, and Aaron all at Aaron's studio, Longpond. The first time they could all get together after the pandemic, and they sat and recorded the whole album for us. Its so awesome, because its even more stripped back than the album. Its worth listening to the whole album, then watching Longpond. They also talk about each song a little bit. This is one of her best written songs for sure.
the wonderful thing abt swifties is that they’ll show up if you do a taylor reaction :) i love seeing people get into her music! i feel like a lot of people don’t realize how versatile her discography is until they truly dive in, i highly recommend right where you left me
Taylor's catalog is so incredibly diverse. She is a master storyteller, lyricist, performer. It's so fun to see people who have only known her big radio hits, and written her off as that stereotype, delve a little deeper and realise what fans have known for a long time!
I love that we all get to be a part of this journey for you 😭 I wish I could hear/see Taylor's music for the first time again 🥹 this is the closest us swifties get 🫶
My husband doesn’t get the craze and is particularly baffled at my obsession with reaction videos. I try to explain exactly this. I would love to go back and hear folklore or reputation for the first time. Or hear the added verses to ATW!!! I think everybody was shook! 😄
God I would give everything to listen to her for the first time again. There’s nothing like the first time. That’s why I love seeing grown men come undone by her music
“We gather stones never knowing what they’ll mean, some to throw, some to make a Diamond ring” one of my fav Taylor lyrics ever. So underrated. My god that lyric is so powerful
You really have to listen to the lyrics with Taylor, especially in folklore and evermore. Also, if you don’t know the context of this song, it won’t make sense. This is about Scott Borchetta and how he sold her music to Scooter Braun. This is the reason she is re-recording everything.
I do think context helps, but I don't know that I agree that the song won't make sense without it. The emotion of the song is understood. All the heartache Taylor felt writing it and singing it comes through. He felt it and understood it despite not knowing the circumstances behind its creation. And I think that's what makes a really incredible songwriter and performer! If the only people who were able to connect to her music were Swifties, I don't know that she would be considered among the greatest songwriters. It would make her inaccessible to new fans. I like to think that learning.about the inspiration for the song just makes it more fun to analyze the lyrics and leads to some really great Ah-ha! moments. But I think the amazing thing about Taylor is her ability to connect with all kinds of listeners!
That’s not exactly true. If you don’t know the context the song still makes sense on its own and can be enjoyed however you interpret it… it just gives another layer when you know the backstory
A fellow metalhead and swiftie here! I became a fan of both metal and Taylor in the same year about 15 years ago so I'm happy to see other metalheads appreciate her too. Vigilante Shit next, please! (both studio and Eras Tour version :D)
Your reaction is beautiful! The order that you are reacting to these songs are perfect. We have to hit you with Reputation to knock out any preconceived notions about who she is, then we switch gears and smack over the head with her lyricism that shred you. Taylor’s talent spans genres and audiences, and I appreciate so much your openness and authenticity.
Yes! I would recommend starting with this version ruclips.net/video/9OQBDdNHmXo/видео.htmlsi=Y8LAWSmscPc4ygpp There is also a 10 minute version of this song, but you may as well start with the original the same way we did, then get to experience the extended cut later
She sounded emotional because this song is personal to her. She explained in the interview right before this performance that she was recently betrayed by somebody she trusted (referring to her former record label, specifically Scott Borchetta who's like a father figure to the young Taylor) and she wrote the song and changed the context to a divorced couple who's at each other's throat after splitting.
Scott Borchetta from Big Machine Records is the person this song is about, she trusted him explicitly and had been there since she was a teenager. Her tears from what he did with her albums being sold out from under her have become his tears now. She has metaphorically buried him by re-recording all of her albums, therefore making sure she gets the profits for those previous albums.
The first time I heard this song, I was literally weeping. Uncontrollably. So much so, my cats were worried about me. Kitties and Crybabies … such a proud Taylor moment. 🐈💧💧🐈⬛
One of my favorite pastimes is watching people who dismissed Taylor for whatever reason (no judgement) give her a chance and realize why she has cultivated the fandom she has. She is a remarkable genre defying artist, songwriter, storyteller, musician, performer etc. and is also humble, kind, generous and funny.
My new favorite thing on earth is watching you get teary-eyed about Taylor swift songs! It’s just so wholesome!! I think you might like her Delicate or Ready For it music videos!
Omgsh! Your discovering Taylor is my new favorite thing. Your emotion is so genuine and refreshing. I am so excited to watch this journey. Thank you so much for allowing the witness. We Swifties spend so much energy trying to get non listeners to at least give her a chance. Your open mind is bringing me so much joy. I’m sure All Too Well is on your list already. I recommend the lyric video for the 10 minute version first, then watch the MV, which she wrote and directed. A personal favorite, but one that doesn’t get a lot of reactions is evermore. It really helped me during a recent mental health struggle. It’s a very healing song to me. This is me trying is another good one. Thanks again for the heartfelt reaction. You’re 3 for 3!!! 😊
evermore is one of my top Taylor songs ever, and I have a similar connection with it. Peace and The Lakes from Long Pond are my favorites as well. This is gonna be so fun! :)
It's really refreshing and endearing to see someone who experiences the way I experience emotions and puts that honesty out there. You don't have to know the meaning behind the song to read the signs on her face, hear it in her breath and her notes, to empathetically know the feelings are there and feel them too, all the way down to your soul -- and they come out immediately as tears. It took me years to understand I'm not a wimp, I'm not a crybaby. I just feel things so powerfully that they burst forth, and i love seeing that in someone else. Loving your Swift reactions.
The record label guy Scott, was more than just a label executive to her. They were close friends and she built his label from the ground up. She was the 1st and biggest artist on the label. When he decided he wanted to sell he tried to trap her on the label. When that didnt work he sold her out to one of the men responsible for the Kanye mess. It devastated her because they were friendly and he fully understood how much it would hurt her.
You mention that she’s feeling every word. She is. She writes everything she sings and most of her songs are very personal. Most of her songs have real stories to go with the song. She’s said numerous times that her lyrics and the stories she tells are the thing she’s most proud of.
I know many reactors like to go in blind when they're listening to Taylor's songs, but once you know the meaning behind them and why she wrote them, it elevates the lyrics and her emotions 100 times over. She is truly amazing and I think this is one of her best songs. Love your reactions!
If you’re doing one of her official videos then do THE MAN. It’s so fun. EXILE from the Long Pond Session set will leave you feeling it for long after the song ends.
This is my favorite album and I definitely prefer the Long Pond Studio Sessions. I think of it as her therapy sessions and that’s possibly why she named it that. Her track 5 will NEVER disappoint.
Her performance of this song from the Eras Tour absolutely wrecked me. Same with Tolerate It. I hope that after the tour leaves theaters, it will make its way to streaming services. Truly an insane show.
You should also be made aware, if you weren't already, that she has written or co-written every single song she's every made. Which is think makes her even more incredible.
This song makes me think about my relationship with my parents. I moved out of their house a few months ago and the verse “And I can go anywhere I want, Anywhere I want, just not home” always hits me cause it's exactly how I felt. And I still feel that way. Listening to Taylor is like my daily free therapy and I feel so grateful that she exists.
I grew up in a very toxic family system with a narcissistic mother…I went no contact almost 2 years and this song always hits me too. This and Clean are my therapy songs. Hugs. 🫂
The version of this song from the eras tour is moredramatic, they feel so different and i love them both soo much, both of them just capture her pain of losing the rights to her early albums and the betrail in that soo well.
Can’t remember if I explained this one or I probably did but I also send you paragraphs at a time about her so it could’ve gotten….. lost in the *pond* HA! This song is about her first six albums being stolen from her. Scott Borchetta refusing to sell her the masters and selling them to scooter Braun instead. Which is why she’s been re-recording and rereleasing them. So she can own her _jewels_ once again.
12:30 about each of Taylor’s steps having a meaning - absolutely yes! you’d be floored by the way she walks/marches to *this* song during the eras tour. it’s nothing like you’ve seen before but so powerful and haunting, with a full concert production and backup performers. It might be a while until the eras tour movie is available to stream but it’s a must-watch (and react!) no matter where you are in your TS journey; she performs songs from all of her albums and truly shows off her versatility. it’s almost 3hrs long, but worth every second
the thing is Taylor Swift is an entire world with different landscapes and that what turns you into a swiftie as once you enter you never need to leave. she's singer, writer and visual artist too, she builds an entire world and its a trip ❤
I LOVE your reactions to Taylor Swift... you need to do more of them!!! If this song really touched you then I HIGHLY recommend her album Folklore and Evermore (folklore more though!)
I think the biggest testament to Taylor Swift's ability is that, not only was she the first woman to win album of the year 3 times at the Grammy's, she won in 3 different genres. So many people only think of her as who she was when she was 19 but she's SO much more. Love watching you realize this! These videos have been such a gem. I know Taylor would feel honored to see you getting so emotional over all the songs.
not them recommanding my tears ricochet after reputation performances 😭😭😭😭 this is a rollercoaster of emotions. this song is from a alternative album not really dark high synth pop like she used to do ; released in 2020 called folklore most of the song there are fictional that she invented ! and later on that year she released this documentary of live version of those song on the long pond studios. it was covid so there was no crowd ...etc Great reaction ❤
As some have stated, this is about her record label, she had been with Scott Borchetta since she was 16, and she was really close to him. When she asked to buy her first 6 albums back, he offered that for every new album she made she would get one old one back, tying her to him for quite a long time. She walked, and then Scott turned around and sold them to Scooter Braun, a person she detested. Her stolen lullabies, and the jewels she gave Scott were her albums that went gold, platinum, and diamond.
I like how the long pond gives like.. another layer of meaning to the regular studio recordings. “Look at how my tears Turn into your tears” Is not in the original but fills in thet gap of why her tears *ricochet* whereas it’s never really spelled out in the original version WHY she chose that word specifically
One of the reasons Taylor Swift has become so famous is that she reinvents herself completely almost every single album. And she'll have newer songs that sound like her older stuff as well, but the overall sound of each album is completely unique.
This is one of my favorite songs of hers. It's such a personal song to her, you don't even need to know the back story (which there is a long one) to know that this song to Taylor just rips at her heart, which in turn rips at my heart. Like you said its the *sigh* at the end that just feels like the twisting of the dagger. She is an absolutely amazing story teller. She will go down in history as the best of our generation ❤
I truly cannot wait to see your reaction to All Too Well (Ten Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) when you get around to it. You HAVE to check out the short film!
Your reactions are my favorite! You get so emotional just like I do. I'm a newer swiftie. I started listening at the beginning of the pandemic. I've been a goner ever since. I can't wait to see your next reaction!
The rabbit hole will just get deeper and deeper, believe me. Oh and she's #1 on singles and album charts, again, both here and in the USA, as well as multiple other countries around the world. Great to hear a Brit reacting !
btw the lyrics and music were written by Taylor. It was produced by Taylor, Jack Antonoff (piano player) and her then boyfriend Joe Alwyn. Folklore and Evermore were her COVID albums.
I’ve always liked Taylor Swift since I first heard Teardrops on My Guitar but I never considered myself a Swifty and didn’t really follow her life or anything. Then more recently I told someone I wasn’t really a Swifty and she was like “really you talk about her all the time!” And so I started digging in. There are so many songs of hers I still don’t know. I didn’t know that she disappeared for two years or whatever before reputation because her music was still playing. I didn’t know she went into isolation. I didn’t know about kanye and “famous” and Kim and the snake thing … I didn’t know about Gaylord and her friendships with Katie Perry and Selina Gomez and her love of books and greys anatomy and her cats. Or scooter brawn or Jake G. I didn’t know any of that *last year*
I'm sure you do know this already but she wrote every single song - as a songwriter she is incredible from that epic performance with Reputation to this as a storyteller! Like how?! she is insane- the Poet of our generation!
If you like acoustic performances look up the Live in Paris versions of Cornelia Street and Death by a Thousand Cuts. Just Taylor with her guitar - amazing. Loving that you’re blown away by her! ❤
I will be here for every single Taylor reaction you do sir!!! I’m going let all the Swifties in your comments catch you up on what this song is all about. You’ll cry like a babe then. So excited to watch you take the musical journey of Taylor Swift. Liked. Subscribed. 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🎼🎶🎼🎶👏👏
You’re getting some great recommendations and I agree with every single one! I’d like to add her cover of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” for Carole King’s induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
More than anything Taylor Swift makes what inspires and moves her. She puts her whole heart into anything she makes and tends not to limit herself by trying to fit into boxes. She has RANGE so expect the unexpected 😂 the one thing you can always depend on is her lyrics are going to be impressive, stirring, and written by her. Even the songs that people agree aren't her most complex or best still have lyrics that stand up against scruntiny. I'm living for this journey, please keep posting reactions to her! ❤
I love your reaction! I've listened to this song so many times, and I still get teary-eyed, especially when I hear the bridge about her stolen lullabies 💔
Listen, you can trust us when we give you suggestions, because yes sir, we are taking you on a ride too. Watching with you is *almost* like watching it the first time. Wish you would've found the version where she explains the song before performing, but I was so happy to see you react to something completely different. I knew it would blow your mind. I hope you're ready. PS - if you like the stripped down raw performances, she has a lot of those too! The Grammy Museum live guitar/piano versions of 1989 are fantastic, particularly Out of the Woods on piano.
This is one of my favorite songs on folklore. It's the first one she wrote for the album, and she wrote it by herself in the midst of the pandemic. It's so hauntingly beautiful. I love the little slides and whispers she puts into certain words and notes. You can really hear her country roots peeking through a bit. She always gets praise for her songwriting and storytelling, which she absolutely deserves, but I don't hear many people talk about how great of a vocalist she is as well.
That first pause......I said, out loud to my laptop, "I KNOW." Because this song just kills me. You really, really ought to react to "The Man" or "Antihero" videos - which she directed. (Yeah, she's good at that too.) She has other awesome ones like "Look What You Made Me Do" that she did with Joseph Kahn, but I really have a soft spot for the videos she's directed herself. Seeing her vision for these songs is pretty awesome. Or check out the short film she did for the 10 minute version of "All Too Well" from the Taylor's Version re-release of Red. It's really incredible. Sadly, you will not be fine - but it's OK. We're all right there with you!
first of all, hi from Italy!! i'm so happy I came across your videos. I've been a taytay fan for a while now and words can't describe how I feel when she sings. I would really recommend the song "the lakes" (its really is a masterpiece). she IS really the best songwriter of this generation. this is the list of songs I would recommend from each album: - DEBUT - our song -FEARLESS (TV) - the way I loved you -SPEAK NOW (TV) - I can see you / dear john -RED (TV) - all too well (10 min version) -1989 (TV) - clean /style / you are in love -REPUTATION - new years day -LOVER - death by a thousand cuts -FOLKLORE - invisible string / the lakes / august / illicit affairs -EVERMORE - champagne problems/ tolerate it -MIDNIGHTS - maroon / anti-hero / vigilante shit OTHER PERFORMANCES: out of the woods from the 1989 world tour, illicit affairs from the eras tour. sorry for the long comment lol :) . hope you have a great day luv
Welcome to the world of swifties, where every song just hits you, like she wrote the song about you. My fav is out of the woods, at first glance it might seem like another breakup song but for me it's song about life, and that feeling of 'are we ever out of the woods' (like out of trouble, as life gives us so many troubles) Please react to out of the woods from 1989 world tour. This is honestly my fav performance from her. Love your content!
You can also watch the discussion she has with Jack Antonoff about the meaning of the song which is great. It’s helpful to have a frame of reference on a song. They do that for about every song on Folklore I believe. Very helpful for many songs as her lyrics aren’t always easy to decipher, so I recommend listening to them followed by the song being recorded!
I'm so touched by the way your reactions to Taylor seem so genuine and emotional! These folklore sessions (and the album itself) are deeply introspective. There is absolutely something to be said about the way she embodies every song she sings and really helps the song and meaning come alive -- I absolutely understood what you meant about her "owning" her confidence, and the way it seems bigger than life while still being utterly...Taylor 🤷♀️
You have a beautiful soul, that's a wonderful blessing. Watchin you discover all the incredible sides of Taylor is an absolute thing of beauty. And discovering you Sir, has made me so very happy. This journey we're taking with you is gonna be epic beyond belief. Love you, you beautiful person! 🫶
Folklore is her best album and the long pond sessions is her best vocal performance.... The sheer brilliance of her lyrics and her vocal just shines... Plus I'm not sure she has ever looked more beautiful. She just looks radiant
Grammy live performance of Mean 😁 Young country Taylor and i absolutely love the sass, especially towards the end 😋 i'm sure it would still surprise you, even though it's country 😁 AND it's epic, because she won "best solo performance" and "best country song" for mean at the grammys. The song is about a critic, who had no constructive criticism and was only.... mean😅. When they announced "best country song" the other contenders had at least two song writers named, and she as the singer was the only song writer for this song. The whole album "speak now" was self written, because of the criticism she had to face for the album before. They didn't believe she writes her own songs, so of course, the Taylor Swift that she is, she makes a new album with songs, no other song writer can take credit for 😂. And of course you can hear how her voice has developed till now, since she worked really hard on it, which i also admire about her. It was 2012! In that live performance you realize, why she's the star she is now. At least it was the moment for me, where i absolutely fell in love with her, because she's so obviously authentic and sincere ♥️ she manages, that everything bad, what is said about her becomes the source for her success, because she writes about it in her songs and owns/ twists it. Which is so ironic and iconic 😋 Argh, i really love her 😅😂
That was an incredible reaction, man. I love how sweet you are. Please please keep reacting to t swift, your videos are the highlight of my week. May I suggest reacting to Ronan (Taylor’s version)? It’s from the point of view of a mother who lost her son to an illness, Taylor wrote the song for her after reading the mum’s blog posts, and I honestly think it’s one of the best things Taylor’s ever done.
Haha this is a great 3rd song to react to, in terms of giving you some idea of the breadth of her catalog, in terms of emotional range and also musical styles.
"And i can go anywhere i want, anywhere i want, just NOT HOME. And you can aim for my heart go for blood, but you would still miss me in your BONES. And i still talk to you, when I'm screaming at the sky!" You HAVE to listen to the eras live version of this song, or the studio version. The musical production and the lyrics are so powerful. 💔😫❤️

Hi I'm an ARMY and a SWIFTIE.
Just like BTS' songs, their lyrics need context.
This is actually quite a sad song of betrayal.
Please please go see the Eras movie…she makes these epic productions too
The best way to describe her voice in this one is "hauntingly beautiful."
“I can go anywhere I want, just not home” still gets me in the heart every time I hear it.
Hits right in the heart

“She’s a real storyteller isn’t she?” 😂 He has no idea yet. 😂 A fan favorite and one of her best stories is All Too Well 10 minute version.
Omg yes, the 10 min version is an absolute MUST
If you want to react to a music video/short film, definitely react to the All Too Well 10 minute version video.
ATW is overrated. I know I can't be the only fan who is so over that song.

I never would have thought that, the amount of pain she feels 😢 so sad! ❤️
@@GOTGamesFolklore has lots of sadness relating to the loss of her albums. Her music is so personal and deep that losing access to her masters must have hurt so much
Another interesting take on this song is that each line of the chorus relates to each of her stolen albums
I didn’t have it in myself to go with Grace (State of Grace - Red)

Loving your reactions. Thank you for being so open minded
Wow thank you for those insight! Makes much more sense and adds to the sense of the song.
'IMMA BE FINE IMMA BE FINE' Yeah, he's in. ❤
It’s a TRACK 5. She typically reserved track five on each album for her most personal and meaningful songs. They’re special!!!
Thats the thing about Taylor, she's bigger then the whole world and it still feels like your just hanging out at a sleepover
Perfect. ❤
Learn the stories behind these songs, it’s pure poetry. Her lullabies were her stolen songs - her manager sold her songs without telling her at all. He had been with her since she was about 13 so it really hurt her. That song is letting him know - her tears - hurt her but they will also, hurt him.
“You wear the same jewels that I gave you, As you bury me”. The gold, silver, platinum and diamond albums she made for him. 😢
Track 5 of every album is what Taylor considers her most emotional songs on each album. Any time you see track 5 on one of her songs, be forewarned that you *will* be hit in the feels. Love your reactions and I'm glad to see yet another creator realize how amazing Taylor is as an artist
Oh really?? I've got a feeling there's going to be a lot of tears on this journey 😢❤️
I’m a new fan and I had no idea! Tysm for sharing this
Dreaded #5s 😢. Check out You’re on Your Own, Kid.
They are definitely the most vulnerable songs on each album. It started by accident on her first 2 studio albums and then she decided to keep it going
@@sarahdee434 I loved her Era’s tour performance for this song!

You guys are giving this man whiplash going from Reputation to Folklore 😭
🥹❤️
I’m loving this as a new Swiftie. Folklore was my entry. I’m learning so much from the comments. ❤
God I would give everything to listen to her for the first time again. There’s nothing like the first time. That’s why I love seeing grown men come undone by her music
I’m not a “new” swiftie, but I’m definitely re-living it through Luke’s journey. Reaction by reaction….. 💜🫶
My tears ricochet is my FAVORITE Taylor Swift song. Every single time it pulls me in. Thank you for reminding me how amazing it is.
This song breaks my heart
Same!! I’m a huge metalhead… but also a swiftie! Do you like I Prevail’s cover of Blank Space?
Oh, and I agree with him needing to see Era’s Vigilante Shit!!!
I love watching the beginnings of someone's Swiftie journey. I wish I could hear music for the first time all over again.
You’ll be hooked❤
Your reaction is beautiful! The order that you are reacting to these songs are perfect. We have to hit you with Reputation to knock out any preconceived notions about who she is, then we switch gears and smack over the head with her lyricism that shred you. Taylor’s talent spans genres and audiences, and I appreciate so much your openness and authenticity.
Completely agree with this. There's artistic talent in guiding new listeners down the rabbit hole.
Amen
Thank you all of you for joining me on this journey and being so welcoming! It's really making it so much fun ❤️
”What now” is ALL TOO WELL. PLEEEEEASE do All Too Well.
Yes! I would recommend starting with this version
ruclips.net/video/9OQBDdNHmXo/видео.htmlsi=Y8LAWSmscPc4ygpp
There is also a 10 minute version of this song, but you may as well start with the original the same way we did, then get to experience the extended cut later
Kitties and Crybabies …
such a proud Taylor moment.
Love Evermore! The song of hope
❤️❤️
The record label guy Scott, was more than just a label executive to her. They were close friends and she built his label from the ground up. She was the 1st and biggest artist on the label. When he decided he wanted to sell he tried to trap her on the label. When that didnt work he sold her out to one of the men responsible for the Kanye mess. It devastated her because they were friendly and he fully understood how much it would hurt her.
This whole Long Pond session is so damn amazing.
Trying & Exile are just 🤯😭
You mention that she’s feeling every word. She is. She writes everything she sings and most of her songs are very personal. Most of her songs have real stories to go with the song. She’s said numerous times that her lyrics and the stories she tells are the thing she’s most proud of.
She started writing professionally at 14 years old. Look it up! She’s so real that every song is about her own life.
Commenting to cosign both of these recommendations.
Agree
Yes!!! Please react to Exile, it’s just so incredible
Exile vote here! So beautiful
As a newer swiftie “Exile” definitely hit me in places I didn’t know were there. The long pond version is the one
Also, her track fives are ALWAYS the big emotional gut-wrenching soul-aching songs.
Hugs. 🫂
Hugs. 🫶🏼
Much love ❤️❤️
🫶 Big hugs. I’m sorry for what you’ve experienced. You’re so important.
wow these videos make me feel like im hearing taylor for the first time..
Your face at 2:50 is exactly how I felt when I first heard it. This song is why I started my tiktok.
The version of this song from the eras tour is moredramatic, they feel so different and i love them both soo much, both of them just capture her pain of losing the rights to her early albums and the betrail in that soo well.
Also if you like that, i highly recomend the Performance of the song evermore from the eras tour, its one of my favorit accoustic song of hers
You should do the extended versions of all the long pond studio sessions because she gives you the story behind each song. Amazing
She’s an amazing storyteller, her lyrics are something else
I LOVE your reactions to Taylor Swift... you need to do more of them!!! If this song really touched you then I HIGHLY recommend her album Folklore and Evermore (folklore more though!)
They say anything you've been through or felt, taylor swift has a song that will perfectly put that feeling into words.
Now you know why so many people love her! She is a true musical genius.
Taylor is like no other artist! Enjoy your journey exploring her wonder ❤
In my opinion, her best storytelling song is all too well. The 10 minute version the words just get me every time.
You would totally love the documentary miss americana, there you really get to know her personality and a lot of the things that happend to her.
I'd love to see you react to her signing 'Death by a thousand cuts' live at Paris. Honestly all of her performances at that show are just amazing ❤❤❤❤
She has touched and slayed almost every genre
I think the biggest testament to Taylor Swift's ability is that, not only was she the first woman to win album of the year 3 times at the Grammy's, she won in 3 different genres. So many people only think of her as who she was when she was 19 but she's SO much more. Love watching you realize this! These videos have been such a gem. I know Taylor would feel honored to see you getting so emotional over all the songs.
not them recommanding my tears ricochet after reputation performances 😭😭😭😭 this is a rollercoaster of emotions.
this song is from a alternative album not really dark high synth pop like she used to do ; released in 2020 called folklore most of the song there are fictional that she invented ! and later on that year she released this documentary of live version of those song on the long pond studios. it was covid so there was no crowd ...etc
Great reaction ❤
I know right? What is wrong with us?!?
she will be on tour in the UK next June btw
As some have stated, this is about her record label, she had been with Scott Borchetta since she was 16, and she was really close to him. When she asked to buy her first 6 albums back, he offered that for every new album she made she would get one old one back, tying her to him for quite a long time. She walked, and then Scott turned around and sold them to Scooter Braun, a person she detested. Her stolen lullabies, and the jewels she gave Scott were her albums that went gold, platinum, and diamond.
I like how the long pond gives like.. another layer of meaning to the regular studio recordings.
“Look at how my tears
Turn into your tears”
Is not in the original but fills in thet gap of why her tears *ricochet* whereas it’s never really spelled out in the original version WHY she chose that word specifically
Agreed, I love that addition in this version. I understood it before LPSS, but it’s so heartbreaking when she spells it out here.
One of the reasons Taylor Swift has become so famous is that she reinvents herself completely almost every single album. And she'll have newer songs that sound like her older stuff as well, but the overall sound of each album is completely unique.
This is one of her best songs. You should watch the whole longpond sessions
You’re going to feel like this with each song. It doesn’t stop.
I truly cannot wait to see your reaction to All Too Well (Ten Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) when you get around to it. You HAVE to check out the short film!
Such a beautiful and emotional song which this performance totally gives it justice. And her sigh at the end. Oh man....
I didn’t know any of that *last year*
I love when people discover Taylor and all her versions of music. She’s unbelievably talented and an amazing writer, singer , director and much more
If you want a sigh that will proceed to destroy your soul listen to you’re losing me. The way I sob every time
I'm sure you do know this already but she wrote every single song - as a songwriter she is incredible from that epic performance with Reputation to this as a storyteller! Like how?! she is insane- the Poet of our generation!
If you like acoustic performances look up the Live in Paris versions of Cornelia Street and Death by a Thousand Cuts. Just Taylor with her guitar - amazing.
Loving that you’re blown away by her! ❤
Agree these were beautiful
Personal favorite and also performing in BBC Lounge
I will be here for every single Taylor reaction you do sir!!! I’m going let all the Swifties in your comments catch you up on what this song is all about. You’ll cry like a babe then. So excited to watch you take the musical journey of Taylor Swift. Liked. Subscribed. 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🎼🎶🎼🎶👏👏
Somebody throw him BabySwizzie doing "Mean" from the Grammys next, just to fulfill his country music expectation. 🤣And then the Tiny Desk concert. 🥰
You’re getting some great recommendations and I agree with every single one! I’d like to add her cover of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” for Carole King’s induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
"How many times am I going to be feeling like this?" ALL the times! This is why we love her as an artist.
There is a taylor song for any mood
This is one of my favorite songs on folklore. It's the first one she wrote for the album, and she wrote it by herself in the midst of the pandemic. It's so hauntingly beautiful. I love the little slides and whispers she puts into certain words and notes. You can really hear her country roots peeking through a bit. She always gets praise for her songwriting and storytelling, which she absolutely deserves, but I don't hear many people talk about how great of a vocalist she is as well.
Recommending Out Of The Woods from the 1989 World Tour, Dear John from the Speak Now World Tour and All Too Well The Short Film 🫶🏻🥹🩵
Its kinda the best way to listen to taylor. Her stripped back versions allow you to really appreciate her incredible lyrics.
This. I don't love a lot of her production. But taylor and a guitar or taylor in a piano.... Magic.
Ephipany ❤. Another masterpiece on Folklore
Love seeing someone get what she is really like.
first of all, hi from Italy!! i'm so happy I came across your videos. I've been a taytay fan for a while now and words can't describe how I feel when she sings. I would really recommend the song "the lakes" (its really is a masterpiece). she IS really the best songwriter of this generation.
this is the list of songs I would recommend from each album:
- DEBUT - our song
-FEARLESS (TV) - the way I loved you
-SPEAK NOW (TV) - I can see you / dear john
-RED (TV) - all too well (10 min version)
-1989 (TV) - clean /style / you are in love
-REPUTATION - new years day
-LOVER - death by a thousand cuts
-FOLKLORE - invisible string / the lakes / august / illicit affairs
-EVERMORE - champagne problems/ tolerate it
-MIDNIGHTS - maroon / anti-hero / vigilante shit
OTHER PERFORMANCES:
out of the woods from the 1989 world tour, illicit affairs from the eras tour.
sorry for the long comment lol :) . hope you have a great day luv
This one was track 5 for a reason. Her track #5 on each album is the one that is the most emotional for her.
