My first instinct when the Pearl Jam/Dave Matthews Band comparison came up was not to think about musical similarities (of which there aren't that many, aside from both coming to prominence in the 90s and having mush-mouthed lead singers), but rather to think about how they approach touring and building setlists. Both bands have had a tendency to play completely different sets from one night to the next, which means each show is unique and there's a really good chance of hearing deep cuts from years ago, while the band's biggest or most current hits might not get played at all. This caters to hardcore fans moreso than casual fans, and inspires a passionate taping culture for both bands. They obviously aren't the only examples by a long shot, but they were probably two of the most well-known bands approaching their live shows in this way in the 90s.
Crediting features is a process that is blocked by online retailers if not done entirely correctly by format for iTunes etc, and then the royalties have a complex breakdown, so. Not having an artist featured is sometimes a choice made by the powers at be
So the feature argument gave me this thought. Back in the long long ago in the time of CD's the insert could come with a lyric sheet with all the writer's and performers credits. No people download music without the sleeve to investigate to try to learn a little more about the band. What a whimsical time my teenage years were. Now-a-days the Feature on a song, in the minds of the artists, is just a simple nod to a bro helping them out. I mean it is literally just a few more characters of text when it comes right down to it. To them it is just as easy as saying thank you.
The cancel culture question was asked in bad faith. It's like when a Republican gets in trouble for something then tries to divert attention by trying to falsely equate what they did with some Democrat did. It's in bad faith the person probably likes Chris Brown or something and just doesnt want to hold people accountable for their actions. Especially when it's not convenient, morals and standards can be a total drag like that.

If anything Lil Nas X is more like the next Fetty Wap
Crediting features is a process that is blocked by online retailers if not done entirely correctly by format for iTunes etc, and then the royalties have a complex breakdown, so. Not having an artist featured is sometimes a choice made by the powers at be
Spotify needs to make it so you can click on a featured artists name while the song is playing and see their discography
Lets argue: IGOR is the best album of 2016

Me: *wHAT?* ALRIGHT ANTHONY I'VE ALWAYS BEEN ACCEPTING OF YOUR OPINIONS BUT THIS IS TOO FA--
Melon Boi: **plays bass**
Me:...im sorry i yelled...
Wuss.
All the woke people on social media who think Tyler the Creator should be cancelled because of Goblin sound just as stupid as the boomers from the early 2000's that tried cancelling Eminem and Marilyn Manson because their music was too offensive
Anthony, you are a great music reviewer, I value your opinion even if I don't allways agree because it's allways thoughtfull and smart.
Lil Nas X is a legitimately good singer
Maybe it’s because Dark Side of the Moon is just a sonically gorgeous album and one of the best of all time 🤷♂️
