- In this English lesson I'll help you learn words and phrases we use to talk about cheating, stealing, and lying. The world is mostly a nice place, but unfortunately, some people cheat and don't tell the truth all the time. Sometimes people cheat to get ahead. In this English lesson I'll share some vocabulary so you know how to have good conversations about cheating!
In this free English class you'll learn words and phrases like: to cheat, to take a shortcut, to get away with something, to get caught, to falsify, forgery, false advertising, cheat day, doping, cheating yourself, table talk, stacking the deck, bribery, and many more.

Taking the cheating shortcut shows a product-oriented focus rather than a process-oriented focus. When my students resort to cheating and copying their classmates work during a task-based activity, they cheat themselves from an opportunity to improve. Of course, it's rare that they cheat, but it's a mandatory English class that many would rather not take, so a few try to take the easy way out because they aren't yet comfortable speaking English.
