BL has Edelgard, BE has Rhea and DG has Nemesis [as well as being the path that actually bothers to explain A LOT of the actual backstory, since the other two sides barely skim it and focus entirely on the war]. There's also a 4th path which can only be started if you do specific things on time during BE, but i can't recall who the final boss was there. Plus recently a side-story DLC was revealed which actually adds a 4th house, so there's EVEN MORE [plus we know there's at least 1 more big story DLC coming].

Aviv Dala It’s sad that Urizen’s fights, aside from the final one, are shit. Better to have two extremely good fights than four shit fights and one good one.
The only fun Urizen fight is the last one when he gets up off his ass and starts actually fighting every now and then instead of just constantly trying to zone you out with spells and tentacles. Compare that to the first Vergil fight, where he feels like an actual badass whose prowess demands respect, or the second Vergil fight, where you feel like a badass who has finally earned the twins' respect, and Urizen's shortcomings become starkly apparent.
@@Unit-3D I'd say that's very true, the biggest shortcoming of Urizen in the final fight though is the massive window he gives to to attack when switching phases - sure, it's an opportunity to attack, but it's FAR too easy to get off a level 2 Red Hot Night with Faust and end the fight nearly immediately.
Gael is my favorite boss of all time up to this point, literally, everything about him was spot on. an absolutely fantastic end to the series. Ludwig had the #1 fight for a while before then though. Can't wait for Elden Ring, hope it gives the top spot a run for it's money as well.
I like him and the nameless king so much but they have a problem.. they're both way too easy... That goes with all DS3 bosses and goes with lady Maria as well....
MGR's bosses exceed in presentation, both due to visuals and the absolutely bloodpumping soundtrack, but sadly due to the limited nature of the combat and rarely being able to effect the state of the bosses much I think it is kind of lacking on a mechanical level. Like.. Rising's combat is too easily abusable due to how trivial parrying is. Idk. But the fight is awesome nonetheless

RUclipsrs of this size would be getting a significant number of regular sponsorship offers, they are not in any way struggling so much that they would HAVE TO take Raid's offer. They take Raid's offer because they push the most with the most money. One could easily make money by accepting other sponsors that have a less egregious reputation than Raid does now. I agree YT treats its content creators like crap, but I don't see that as an excuse to take Raid's offers when there are others (and like I said, there most definitely will be for channels like these).
Hollow Knight doesn't get enough love, man. Nightmare King Grimm is easily up there with some of the greatest bosses in at least the last 20 years, as far as how enjoyable it is. From the blackout title when you start the fight (AMAZING boss intro btw), to the no bs drums that kick in, added on top of a boss that is extremely challenging while (IMO) being 100% fair, and you have a boss that is well worth every hour spent before you get to it.
Agreed. And I would argue he's only the second best boss next to the Pure Vessel. Hell Mantis Lords/Sisters of Battle are up there too. And the Pantheon of Hallownest is one of the most memorable and satisfying boss related challenges I've ever experienced and doesn't deserve all the hate it gets.
I've seen Hollow Knight get nothing but love. If anything I'd say it gets too much love and that people overlook what I think are pretty big flaws in the game. Kind of splitting hairs there though because it's still great
Epic Marschmallow I’d say the only real flaw I could find in Hollow Knight was its map. I don’t mind having to buy a map to get a general idea of the area I’m in, but I wish it was like other Metroidvania games where, as you went through each area, more and more of the map was uncovered. Then I wouldn’t be running around like a dumbass trying to find the map vendor just to be able to add the rooms to my map.

Man. That Gael fight is hands down one of the most amazing, wonderful, and beautifully passionate fight I have ever done. Music is seriously perfect and the fight is truly epic

@@draw2death421 the problem with midir is that he is a super fun fight and the best dragon fight of all time but Gael is in this game and Ornstein and Smough also exist. he said only one per series which is pretty fair or else this would mostly be another souls bossranking.
Miyazaki and his team's rare ability to put out quality stuff that seems to only get better the more they create makes me genuinely excited to see what we get with Elden Ring.
Elden Ring had four standouts bosses to me. Morgott (pls buff his HP) and Godfrey for their great/fun gameplay, Radahn for the beautiful environment and the lore behind his fight and Malenia for her wtf difficulty (although she can be considered unfair, unlike every other "hard" boss FromSoft has released to date). I wouldn't say any of Elden Ring's bosses are better than Gael/Isshin/Ludwig independently but DLC could definitely change that in the future and Elden Ring arguably still has the best collective of different bosses overall; the only real letdown was Elden Beast even though Radagon was still a sick fight.
It is quite hard to do a best boss list cause there were so many good bosses from the latter half of the decade, but I mean, fucking of course Vergil is #1.
I love you for putting Vergil on top and acknowledging Devil May Cry's masterful combat design. I still haven't played an action game that comes close to how fun and crazy it is.
Mr. Freeze is hands-down my favorite boss battle of the decade, since the amount of freedom and strategy put into the fight alone is unprecedented. Enough so that the final boss for Arkham Origins (Bane) basically copied it! Also good choice for including Nemesis as well, who’s easily the best out of the three FE3H final bosses.👌🏽
Nah, you could still use the same strat against Bane more than twice. Freeze, on the other hand, actually punished you for trying the same trick again. Pounced on him from the rafters? He freezes every single high ledge. Surprise him from the vents? He tosses a grenade that fills all of them with ice. Sneak up on him from behind? Activates a cold spray on the back of his suit. Get him while he's blinded by a smoke pellet? Proximity sensors on his helmet. Best boss fight that Rocksteady made in the entire franchise.
AdderTude Yeah, I couldn’t agree more. And I’m not saying that Bane has the same level of greatness that Mr. Freeze has, because he definitely isn’t, but it’s a similar fight in the way that you use stealth and the environment in order to defeat him due to being unable to face him head-on.
I honestly find Manus father of the abyss as my favorite. It's probably an unpopular opinion, but I always came to appreciate the design. From his placement in the lore to his aggressive flamelurker like combat style helped feed my masochistic lust in bosses and no boss satisfied me as much as he did. I think he's an honestly pretty underrated boss. Thanks for the list DeMod.
I agree, to some extent. The only thing that I don't like, is the replayablity. The difficulty doesn't age well after subsequent playthroughs. But, he is still amazing.
i have to agree. for a long time my favorite was ludwig, then i started to love gael, but now there is no boss i’m more excited for than manus. he feels so good to fight and he has a perfectly balanced challenge, and he also rewards full exploration for the silver pendant. his complex move set can be understood and learned, but he never feels easy at any point. 10/10 would get my ass kicked by him again
Best Ds1 boss, but I think he's kind of tame compared to some of the craziest Ds3 fights. But he really does feel like a modern from fight within Ds1. That's why so many peope sturggled with him and hated him lol. Aged a lot better than Artorias did, who has honestly been overthrown by Gael imo. Manus' melee/dark mage shtick wasn't really replicated since.
I knew Ludwig was going to be high on it, literally no other boss in any Fromsoft game gives me chills when they're slashing at me with a sword 30x my size. Absolutely perfect boss with an even better score, ugh

So happy to see Vergil's boss fight (despite being a less aggressive repeat of his 3rd DMC3 encounter) considered your number 1 boss of the decade. Honestly i have to agree, while other bosses may be more directly punishing, Vergil on Dante Must Die mode is an absolute pleasure to fight, especially when he starts dropping in and out of DT and mixing up the combos of his attacks like he's trying to max out his own style meter against you. He's not the hardest boss, but every time i fight him i get MOTIVATED!
I think my best boss has to be Gehrman. The scenery was gorgeous and his line: 'Tonight, Gehrman joins the hunt,' sended chills downs my spine and got more hyped up than any other boss

Sans Bear fr, I love souls games but to say that other game bosses feel dull compared to them is an overstatement... there’s so many good games out there with incredible boss fights.
I just beat the game for the first time yesterday. In terms of presentation it's a solid 10 but in all honesty he wasn't that deep or challenging of a fight, and the story was too short to build him up as the big bad proper, especially when most of the focus was on Sam instead. Was it amazing? Absolutely. Top 10 of the decade material? Close but no cigar.
@@offdabean Oh, I'm not saying he is. I've just heard/watched some people say they take 2-3 hours beating him. But I think that's more the fact that they don't have healing items and they kept failing at the cutting section.

I absolutely love fighting Vergil. I have replayed that boss fight sooooo many times. Although I understand that the challenge vergil provides is to test your ability to juggle between all playstyles from sword master to Royal Guard. But one thing i hated about the fight was the HUGE DIFFICULTY SPIKE. During my first playthrough I got through the whole game with only like 2 or 3 deaths but man Vergil was like Switching from DMC' Devil Hunter difficulty to cranking it upto Sekiro. The game could have done a better job of balancing the difficulty curve upto the final fight.
From number 6, this list is basically perfection with only difference being the author and some small details that you actually have to look for. What a list!
I JUST beat the Queen Of The Valkyries in GoW last weekend. Took me all weekend to do it. Slowly learning and improving until a near perfect run. It was so satisfying! I was really hoping I'd see her here and I'm very happy you didn't disappoint!
Oryx from Destiny (raid version) still has to be one of my favorite bosses so far, the build up to the fight is amazing and then having to fight a god is even better. Getting everything right and finally killing him is one of my favorite moments in my gaming experience
Man idk.... I know undertale gets a lot of shit for it's community, but the first boss fight I had against Undyne practically shook me. The difficulty was a huge spike from toriel and papyrus, and that fight made me battle mentally with the idea that I didn't actually want to kill her. I thought it was fantastic.
The Undying is geniunely one of the most spine chilling fights I've ever encountered in a game. That title alone plus the music. Fox really outdid himself with this one
Thrak The Carrier Of The Moonlight midir over gael? I guess, but I liked the lore behind gael is so much better. Not to mention, the mechanics of the fight are cooler

For me Lady Maria might be the best boss ever, how difficult she was, how cool the fight is, how hype I got when I barely squeaked out a win with no blood vials and little health left
I remember my first time fighting Virgil in DMC5. I get the last hit in and think I beat him and he gets the last bit of my health with one last hit. Fuckin great fight.
Playing the Devil May Cry series this year was one of the best gaming favors I've done for myself in a while. I really appreciated everyone's encouragement to take the style system seriously. Beating Son of Sparda with all A and S ranks was a great challenge, and I look forward to trying DMD someday.

What I love about (spoiler for the list I guess, though we all probably knew) Vergil being at the top is the video being perfectly fine with the background footage as you spoke. Once you said he was number one, not a second later Vergil's going 'But you already knew that.' On purpose or not, that's just grade A-perfection right there. Only makes sense the Alpha and Omega is sitting on the throne for number one.

Oh god, I had blocked out Sigrun from my memory. She was one of the most difficult, if not the most difficult, bosses I've managed to beat of the decade. I gently set my controller down before throwing my hands in the air with glee upon finally emerging triumphant. She absolutely deserved a spot on this list. She truly tested everything I had previously learned in the game, and was entirely unforgiving, but fair nonetheless. I very rarely end a boss fight in any game with my heart pounding. The fight with Sigrun managed to get my blood pumping every time victory was in reach, and finally beating her was one of the most satisfying moments in any game I've ever played.
JSmith18 Since I did play on regular difficulty I have no idea what people see in her... but the point about fighting smaller bosses first for learning is true - that is good design
Aye Me Oh yeah, they’re incredible. Orphan of Kos makes me sweat no matter how many times I’ve beat it. The wave of relief upon beating it is worth it, though. Sister Freide also invokes that feeling. I’m excited to eventually play Demon Souls for the first time when the next gen systems come out. I’ve been avoiding anything Demon Souls related so I can experience it with as little information as possible. That’s going to be tough once it releases, though.
I am very biased but I would have to put Detlaff from The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine. The fight is challenging, gorgeous, has great music, is integral to wrapping up the expansions story, and it wraps up not only the witcher 3 in a nice manner but the entire witcher saga including the books. It instantly makes me want to play and read through everything just one more time, everytime.
I gotta say my favorite boss of the decade is Darkeater Midir. The fight is built up across the Ringed City as you progress, which is well done. His boss music is incredible, as well as the way he traverses the arena. He’s extremely difficult without feeling particularly unfair. And he’s an ACTUAL DRAGON FIGHT, so many dragon bosses in gaming don’t really feel like you’re fighting a dragon, Midir feels incredible all the way through
I might be the only one with such an opinion but I would definitely have Rafe from Uncharted 4 here. Sure,it wasn't the hardest boss fight and it was scripted like a movie but the game was building towards it the entire time and it was super intense.
I remember the Sword Saint Isshin fight being the most satisfying boss in Sekiro for me. Starts with you beating Genichiro's Tomoe form after likely getting pummeled by him early game in the same place he beat you in the beginning. An amazing intro to the real boss. A boss who made my least favorite enemy attack (the elites rapid sword strike) fun. Had the interesting and diverse changes between phases and a badass execution animation at the made it the best. Also the Isshin pulling out the glock memes were the best.
I agree with this list almost completely, the only glaring omission being Undertale's Sans. The best boss fight in a game with excellent bosses across the board, new and remixed mechanics, brutally challenging to the point of requiring total mastery of the fight, memorable moments, great narrative relevance and depth, and has whats probably the most iconic piece of music to come out of a video game in the last decade. Also, Senator Armstrong from Revengeance as an honorable mention as one of the most memorable fights in a video game (but not a whole lot else.)
Vergil is the beat boss of the decade, two decades running. Hell he fucking set the bar for sick one on one boss fights at the start of the last decade and he closes this one out in style.
srsly after souls series other game's bosses are just 'challenge'...for some reason no boss made will make me feel the adrenaline rush like gael and isshin...and not gonna lie ivory king is one of the best bosses of series even if its from ds 2
@@8304u ds2 is overhated. True it has the most bad bosses in the series, there are some bangers there especially in the dlc. Plus it probably had the best pvp experience in series
@LeadFaun still better than the camera fight at nameless king or the boring 2 phases of Friede or the midir. Goin by that way, Gael is a boring fight because he is just another dude with sword and high telegraphed attacks that are insane easy to dodge and with bad RNG.
I was totally caught off guard seeing Wheatley on this list, but I can't deny it had an awesome ending. I'm glad it can be appreciated for being a great puzzle boss, whereas many of the most recognized bosses are combat based (at least in my experience).

If we ever get a DMC6 I'd like it if Dante got the boss fight he deserves. You can fight him in DMC 4 but he feels more like fighting another player rather than an actual Boss like Vergil. Vergil however is able to be a boss and play like one to.
Olgierd von everec from the witcher 3 should be on here too. That boss fight was just so epic, starting from the build up, the actual fight, the soundtrack and finally the fight ending which caught me off guard!

I never finished hollow knight because when I finally beat nightmare king Grimm iv never felt so satisfied with a game before. I didn’t feel like I needed to play it anymore.
I feel like Baldur was a better boss than the Valkyries. His battles where not only incredible but had a lot of meaning behind them in regards to Kratos and Atreus developing their individual character and developing their relationship as father and son.

MGR's bosses exceed in presentation, both due to visuals and the absolutely bloodpumping soundtrack, but sadly due to the limited nature of the combat and rarely being able to effect the state of the bosses much I think it is kind of lacking on a mechanical level. Like.. Rising's combat is too easily abusable due to how trivial parrying is. Idk. But the fight is awesome nonetheless

I agree YT treats its content creators like crap, but I don't see that as an excuse to take Raid's offers when there are others (and like I said, there most definitely will be for channels like these).

Hollow Knight doesn't get enough love, man. Nightmare King Grimm is easily up there with some of the greatest bosses in at least the last 20 years, as far as how enjoyable it is. From the blackout title when you start the fight (AMAZING boss intro btw), to the no bs drums that kick in, added on top of a boss that is extremely challenging while (IMO) being 100% fair, and you have a boss that is well worth every hour spent before you get to it.
Agreed. And I would argue he's only the second best boss next to the Pure Vessel. Hell Mantis Lords/Sisters of Battle are up there too. And the Pantheon of Hallownest is one of the most memorable and satisfying boss related challenges I've ever experienced and doesn't deserve all the hate it gets.
I've seen Hollow Knight get nothing but love. If anything I'd say it gets too much love and that people overlook what I think are pretty big flaws in the game. Kind of splitting hairs there though because it's still great
Epic Marschmallow I’d say the only real flaw I could find in Hollow Knight was its map. I don’t mind having to buy a map to get a general idea of the area I’m in, but I wish it was like other Metroidvania games where, as you went through each area, more and more of the map was uncovered. Then I wouldn’t be running around like a dumbass trying to find the map vendor just to be able to add the rooms to my map.

Elden Ring had four standouts bosses to me. Morgott (pls buff his HP) and Godfrey for their great/fun gameplay, Radahn for the beautiful environment and the lore behind his fight and Malenia for her wtf difficulty (although she can be considered unfair, unlike every other "hard" boss FromSoft has released to date). I wouldn't say any of Elden Ring's bosses are better than Gael/Isshin/Ludwig independently but DLC could definitely change that in the future and Elden Ring arguably still has the best collective of different bosses overall; the only real letdown was Elden Beast even though Radagon was still a sick fight.

Mr. Freeze is hands-down my favorite boss battle of the decade, since the amount of freedom and strategy put into the fight alone is unprecedented. Enough so that the final boss for Arkham Origins (Bane) basically copied it!

Nah, you could still use the same strat against Bane more than twice. Freeze, on the other hand, actually punished you for trying the same trick again. Pounced on him from the rafters? He freezes every single high ledge. Surprise him from the vents? He tosses a grenade that fills all of them with ice. Sneak up on him from behind? Activates a cold spray on the back of his suit. Get him while he's blinded by a smoke pellet? Proximity sensors on his helmet. Best boss fight that Rocksteady made in the entire franchise.
AdderTude Yeah, I couldn’t agree more. And I’m not saying that Bane has the same level of greatness that Mr. Freeze has, because he definitely isn’t, but it’s a similar fight in the way that you use stealth and the environment in order to defeat him due to being unable to face him head-on.
I honestly find Manus father of the abyss as my favorite. It's probably an unpopular opinion, but I always came to appreciate the design. From his placement in the lore to his aggressive flamelurker like combat style helped feed my masochistic lust in bosses and no boss satisfied me as much as he did. I think he's an honestly pretty underrated boss. Thanks for the list DeMod.

I agree, to some extent. The only thing that I don't like, is the replayablity. The difficulty doesn't age well after subsequent playthroughs. But, he is still amazing.
i have to agree. for a long time my favorite was ludwig, then i started to love gael, but now there is no boss i’m more excited for than manus. he feels so good to fight and he has a perfectly balanced challenge, and he also rewards full exploration for the silver pendant. his complex move set can be understood and learned, but he never feels easy at any point. 10/10 would get my ass kicked by him again
Best Ds1 boss, but I think he's kind of tame compared to some of the craziest Ds3 fights. But he really does feel like a modern from fight within Ds1. That's why so many peope sturggled with him and hated him lol. Aged a lot better than Artorias did, who has honestly been overthrown by Gael imo. Manus' melee/dark mage shtick wasn't really replicated since.

So happy to see Vergil's boss fight (despite being a less aggressive repeat of his 3rd DMC3 encounter) considered your number 1 boss of the decade. Honestly i have to agree, while other bosses may be more directly punishing, Vergil on Dante Must Die mode is an absolute pleasure to fight, especially when he starts dropping in and out of DT and mixing up the combos of his attacks like he's trying to max out his own style meter against you.
He's not the hardest boss, but every time i fight him i get MOTIVATED!

I think my best boss has to be Gehrman. The scenery was gorgeous and his line: 'Tonight, Gehrman joins the hunt,' sended chills downs my spine and got more hyped up than any other boss

Senator Armstrong from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was one of the most impactful boss of the decade
I just beat the game for the first time yesterday. In terms of presentation it's a solid 10 but in all honesty he wasn't that deep or challenging of a fight, and the story was too short to build him up as the big bad proper, especially when most of the focus was on Sam instead. Was it amazing? Absolutely. Top 10 of the decade material? Close but no cigar.

I love how even theDeModcracy guy is low key resting raid shadow legends at the beginning of the video. Even he is sick of that game and they are literally giving him money.
I absolutely love fighting Vergil. I have replayed that boss fight sooooo many times. Although I understand that the challenge vergil provides is to test your ability to juggle between all playstyles from sword master to Royal Guard. But one thing i hated about the fight was the HUGE DIFFICULTY SPIKE. During my first playthrough I got through the whole game with only like 2 or 3 deaths but man Vergil was like Switching from DMC' Devil Hunter difficulty to cranking it upto Sekiro. The game could have done a better job of balancing the difficulty curve upto the final fight.

I JUST beat the Queen Of The Valkyries in GoW last weekend. Took me all weekend to do it. Slowly learning and improving until a near perfect run. It was so satisfying! I was really hoping I'd see her here and I'm very happy you didn't disappoint!

Oryx from Destiny (raid version) still has to be one of my favorite bosses so far, the build up to the fight is amazing and then having to fight a god is even better. Getting everything right and finally killing him is one of my favorite moments in my gaming experience
Man idk.... I know undertale gets a lot of shit for it's community, but the first boss fight I had against Undyne practically shook me. The difficulty was a huge spike from toriel and papyrus, and that fight made me battle mentally with the idea that I didn't actually want to kill her. I thought it was fantastic.
The Undying is geniunely one of the most spine chilling fights I've ever encountered in a game. That title alone plus the music. Fox really outdid himself with this one

For me Lady Maria might be the best boss ever, how difficult she was, how cool the fight is, how hype I got when I barely squeaked out a win with no blood vials and little health left
I remember my first time fighting Virgil in DMC5. I get the last hit in and think I beat him and he gets the last bit of my health with one last hit.

Playing the Devil May Cry series this year was one of the best gaming favors I've done for myself in a while. I really appreciated everyone's encouragement to take the style system seriously. Beating Son of Sparda with all A and S ranks was a great challenge, and I look forward to trying DMD someday.

Oh god, I had blocked out Sigrun from my memory. She was one of the most difficult, if not the most difficult, bosses I've managed to beat of the decade. I gently set my controller down before throwing my hands in the air with glee upon finally emerging triumphant. She absolutely deserved a spot on this list. She truly tested everything I had previously learned in the game, and was entirely unforgiving, but fair nonetheless. I very rarely end a boss fight in any game with my heart pounding. The fight with Sigrun managed to get my blood pumping every time victory was in reach, and finally beating her was one of the most satisfying moments in any game I've ever played.

Aye Me Oh yeah, they’re incredible. Orphan of Kos makes me sweat no matter how many times I’ve beat it. The wave of relief upon beating it is worth it, though. Sister Freide also invokes that feeling. I’m excited to eventually play Demon Souls for the first time when the next gen systems come out. I’ve been avoiding anything Demon Souls related so I can experience it with as little information as possible. That’s going to be tough once it releases, though.

Nero vs Vergil. A culmination of a 18 year old story after 11 years of waiting implemented the best, most emotional and kick ass way.
I am very biased but I would have to put Detlaff from The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine. The fight is challenging, gorgeous, has great music, is integral to wrapping up the expansions story, and it wraps up not only the witcher 3 in a nice manner but the entire witcher saga including the books. It instantly makes me want to play and read through everything just one more time, everytime.

I gotta say my favorite boss of the decade is Darkeater Midir. The fight is built up across the Ringed City as you progress, which is well done. His boss music is incredible, as well as the way he traverses the arena. He’s extremely difficult without feeling particularly unfair. And he’s an ACTUAL DRAGON FIGHT, so many dragon bosses in gaming don’t really feel like you’re fighting a dragon, Midir feels incredible all the way through
My 11 year old self really couldn't stop laughing maniacally when I was just beating up Koloktos.
I might be the only one with such an opinion but I would definitely have Rafe from Uncharted 4 here. Sure,it wasn't the hardest boss fight and it was scripted like a movie but the game was building towards it the entire time and it was super intense.
Slave Knight Gael left me with the longest lasting impression for sure
I remember the Sword Saint Isshin fight being the most satisfying boss in Sekiro for me. Starts with you beating Genichiro's Tomoe form after likely getting pummeled by him early game in the same place he beat you in the beginning. An amazing intro to the real boss. A boss who made my least favorite enemy attack (the elites rapid sword strike) fun. Had the interesting and diverse changes between phases and a badass execution animation at the made it the best. Also the Isshin pulling out the glock memes were the best.
I finally beat Isshin today, I cried with joy for about a half hour.
Fighting sigrun in GOW gave me PTSD, finally beat her after 2 hours
I agree with this list almost completely, the only glaring omission being Undertale's Sans.
The best boss fight in a game with excellent bosses across the board, new and remixed mechanics, brutally challenging to the point of requiring total mastery of the fight, memorable moments, great narrative relevance and depth, and has whats probably the most iconic piece of music to come out of a video game in the last decade.
Also, Senator Armstrong from Revengeance as an honorable mention as one of the most memorable fights in a video game (but not a whole lot else.)
Vergil is the beat boss of the decade, two decades running. Hell he fucking set the bar for sick one on one boss fights at the start of the last decade and he closes this one out in style.

@LeadFaun still better than the camera fight at nameless king or the boring 2 phases of Friede or the midir. Goin by that way, Gael is a boring fight because he is just another dude with sword and high telegraphed attacks that are insane easy to dodge and with bad RNG.
I was totally caught off guard seeing Wheatley on this list, but I can't deny it had an awesome ending. I'm glad it can be appreciated for being a great puzzle boss, whereas many of the most recognized bosses are combat based (at least in my experience).

If we ever get a DMC6 I'd like it if Dante got the boss fight he deserves. You can fight him in DMC 4 but he feels more like fighting another player rather than an actual Boss like Vergil. Vergil however is able to be a boss and play like one to.
Gael, and the Ringed City as a whole, was a beautiful send-off to Dark Souls. I cried when I finished it.

Olgierd von everec from the witcher 3 should be on here too. That boss fight was just so epic, starting from the build up, the actual fight, the soundtrack and finally the fight ending which caught me off guard!

@@kidnamedfinger2840 No, I am asking genuinely. Did it get improved as the trilogy progressed? I remember the first one being just a couple steps above an MMO: click to target enemy, autoattack, occasionally activate special ability.

I never finished hollow knight because when I finally beat nightmare king Grimm iv never felt so satisfied with a game before. I didn’t feel like I needed to play it anymore.
I feel like Baldur was a better boss than the Valkyries. His battles where not only incredible but had a lot of meaning behind them in regards to Kratos and Atreus developing their individual character and developing their relationship as father and son.
