- How to attach all of your networking equipment to a wall and hide the cables neatly. This is great for a Home network as it is easy to do and can tidy up the mess of cables.
How to Build a DIY Network wall using 9mm plywood and some cheap tools.
This setup is great if you don't move or change hardware. Saves alot of space over a traditional server cabinet as this can be mounted fairly flat with the wall. With my house this was set and forget, soon I may be thinking of changing my router but I won't need to change to many cables just the power.
That's a very clean install. I never thought about doing the cable routing behind the network panel. Looks geat! Now it's time to RGB all the things!
Nice and neat. I like the approach of using what you have. A nice setup doesn’t have to involve a huge amount of money
Very elegant, and surprised to find a couple new ideas - nicely done!
Toothpaste trick was neat. Consider a setup where the power strip can be more easily replaced, those can fail/degrade over time. This setup will require the entire board to come down to replace it. Also, a french cleat would be a good way to easily access the back instead of screwing it to the wall.
Thanks for watching, I don't plan on needing to pull the board down for years. I'll probably be moving house by then.
Thanks for the input :)
Very nice! I'm in the planning phase of doing something similar, so this video helped.
Nicely done! I need to get all my cables in order as well!
That looks Great. Thanks for taking the time to share.
18:27 your "quite messy" version is still better than mine now :D ... good job
Nice clean and tidy setup, I like the toothpaste trick
Outstanding job. Going to dump my 9U rack for this.
Great video. Thank you.
I must admit, I was amazed by the toothpaste trick. Hahaha!
Really good job !!
You my friend have just UP’ed the standard of wall networking. When I did my wall, it was messy with cables but this is genius. It just sucks if you want to upgrade the architecture like pfsense or a server but to each his own and you might be sticking with this for a while. Alls I can say is bravo, I am thoroughly impressed
👍👍 Very nice job you have done...the stand-off for the backboard is quite cleaver
...and rooter or router is fine by me 😎
Just a suggestion... share what size screws you used to mount the power strip and other gear, like the router. This is the reason I came here. THANKS!
cool !!!!! where did you buy the white patch panel on the side of the wall! cant find it!!! thks!
Individual ethernet ports into a 4 piece modular panel. They like pop into place

how heavy was the whole finished set up and what screws/anchors did you use to hold it in place, thx.
I love the idea of the wall panel but I would have not fastened all of the patch leads to the back of the board before putting the RJ-45s on... I would have cut them to the length required and then put the fittings on them where you can handle them much easier than a short length sticking out of the board near the hole... I personally use a piece of coloured chalk on the back of my power boards to find the holes but the use of toothpaste is a good trick.
looks great .
Looks really good! Placing that wireless router under the stairs is bugging me though...
yeh good point. I do have another wireless access point upstairs that's hardwired in to this cupboard.
the router downstairs mainly acts as my router really.v
1:44 was the best option. I would make more whole to see the lights. Put organic glass on top those wholes to see lights. Paint that thing and attach as on 1:44 nothing is hanging off the wall all stuff hidden. nothing can be accidentally smashed.
Chuck some led lights behind the wood. Will make it look maga
looks clean but would be a pain in the butt to work on
Good luck with trying to troubleshoot the equipment. Clean install but not practical.
Why not just get a network carbine this? Seems like a lot of work and time. Why?
Because I can. :)
Racks take up too much volume space. This packs the home lab flat which consumes the least expensive space.
get some RJ45 connectors with loading bars, it's a LOT easier to do.
Not sleeves it is called boots
Who says like that hello internet
Its not a ROOTER its a ROUTER! And blow your nose next time instead of wiping all the time!
You're a strange man.
No, just no. TIP search RUclips for any videos like this. You’ll likely not find any. Install a proper network rack and dump this shit.
None of this gear is rackmount. It’s all desktop or keyhole mount.
There are some “pro” cabinets for this sort of SOHO stuff, but it’s not really any better than a DIY.
I have a 4G LTE modem has wall mount support BEC Ridgewave 6300NEL other Routers will work since my current one don't have 5ghz
