I remember once when I was playing Final Fantasy 7, when Sephiroth was giving his speech and was like "Hey Mother, I have an idea. Let's go to the Promised Land together!" I was listening to AC/DC's Highway to Hell and the lyrics said "Hey Mamma, look at me, I'm on my way to the Promised Land" at the same time.

Damn, I love how the piano interacts with that bassline. Fully captures the vibe of the original, provoking feelings of awe and sadness.
It sort of feels right, you know? An incredible sense of wonder, of reverent awe, for a life form that has existed for millions of years, a being who has seen countless worlds and adapted from each of them. This is a creature that is evolution and adaptation incarnate, with limitless genetic potential. The "ultimate life form."
But there is sadness too, because she is also the catalyst of countless tragedies. Entire planets have fallen to her. Countless living beings have died as she feeds on living planets and completes her life cycle. And from the human abuse of her cells, lives have been altered, ruined, twisted.
I dunno, the bits of this theme that make me feel awe, and the parts that kinda squeeze my heart a little bit, I feel like that's intentional on the part of Uematsu. I'm not very knowledgeable on music theory or anything, but I feel like the emotions that are elicited mirror the emotions of both Cloud and Sephiroth. Cloud fights Jenova with everything he has, Sephiroth embraces her as his entire world. But both of them are deeply connected to her.
Heh, sorry for the babble, I just really love music and really love Jenova. She's my second favorite character.

I have listened to as many metal covers as I can find of this song, this one is the best. You understand the flow of this track, thanks for the good listen :)

To clarify, I think a lot of people tend to go ham on the rhythm of this track, making the drums the driving force of the beat with fast snares etc. In this one you give the baseline and descending arpeggios room and slow down the drums a bit (aside from the hats and the kick, which is perfect) and also play with it a bit within the context of what is happening within the track. A lot of metal covers of this kind of music end up drowning out the core melodies that make them so good in the first place instead of enhancing them. So great work dude!
