My grandparents and parents were from Dera Ghazi Khan/Dera Ismail Khan. In 1947, they moved to Delhi. We used to call our language Dera Wali (not Saraiki). One of our neighbors in Delhi migrated from Multan. Their dialect was slightly different than what my grandparents/parents spoke. My grandparents/parents are no more. I love derawali language, so I listen to it on RUclips. My memories are filled with the sweet language of my ancestors, Derawali. Thank you for posting this video. I enjoyed it.
For all these propagandists that claim Saraiki to be a dialect of Panjabi, no words can refute them more than a small sample of real thick Saraiki. As youtube does not allow providing links, so just type these search terms in youtube search bar. "Bashir Ghamkhar Taunsa 2020" Just click on the first result from this search. There may be millions of clips better than this to showcase the native glory of my language but as a sample it should be enough to satisfy any doubters that Saraiki in its pure form has nothing to do with Panjabi. And is a distinct and complete language and culture in itself.

I am Indian and my family speak Saraiki. However, we never learnt the name Saraiki until I met Pakistanis. Most Indian Saraikis refer to it by the name of the city or district they come from like Multani, Derewali, etc. I would say that Saraiki is also different because Multan suba was different to Lahore suba for most of history and it was added to Punjab after it was won by Ranjeet Singh.

A division is costly for both the halves whether its Punjabi or Saraiki. As an Indian Punjabi, I was casually looking at the top most spoken languages in the world and seeing Punjabi at the 9th spot filled me with pride. To further investigate, I found that 80million speakers are from Pakistan while nearly 30million from India and it was then I found that Saraiki and Hindko are treated as different from Punjabi in Pak census since 1971 and the relative percentage since then has witnessed a drastic decrease. great video Nouman, I am from Multan and my ancestors are living here for hundreds of years ago. Our language was called Multani. Basically these were different dilects spoken in Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan etc. Saraiki was a terms adopted after the language movement in 1960. But now we are used to this word called as Saraiki people. Multan was a separate province and very rich city. This dilect originated after so many people from Sindh came to Multan for trade and also for religious reasons. Sindhis love for Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya has a very long history. They came here and start interacting with the Malhis (ancient people of Multan) whose spoke Punjabi at that time. So any unbiased person can say current Saraiki was a part of Punjabi and we haven't any shame in that. Punjab is a land of acceptance and love, not for the quarrelsome or evils. Punjab Zindabad 💖

I am Jutt and my Clan is Bhutta. We Bhutta's hail from Multan. We speak Multani dialect of Panjabi. Recently I just searched on Google about Bhutta and I was shocked to see that there it was written that Bhutta's are Saraiki. I as a Bhutta reject this fake identity of Saraiki and I am proud to be Panjabi. We are Panjabies not Saraiki Sindhies. But its really sad that how they are Earasing our Panjabi identity , History and Culture and trying to make us something whose name even not existed before few decades. This is thing is usually pushed by Baloch migrants living at border regions of Panjab. We Panjabies already get devided in 1947 and now getting further devided by the respective countries we joined. Panjab and Panjabi need to be united to crush all those elements against Panjab and trying to devide us. We will not let Pakistan to devide us how India devided Indian side of Panjab. Long live the Panjab Unity.

I am from a Multani Family in India and I have never heard the word Saraiki from my family or anyone in India ever, I only got to know about it through Pakistani blogs/videos because of my interest in my family's roots. Here we call ourselves Punjabi, but call our zuban as Multani. Other than our zuban I don't see any difference between us and other Punjabis culturally, but that could also be because we are living as a very small minority among other West Punjabis from Lahore side since partition so our Multani culture might have diluted. My Parents generation can speak and understand both Multani and standard punjabi, but I can only understand multani and speak standard punjabi because of less exposure to multani.

I agree with your opinion based on the facts. If you can understand >80-90% what someone is saying without the aid of a translation, then it is effectively the same language. Seraiki is just a dialect of Punjabi, and its emergence as a separate identity with a push to be seen as its own language is all political.
Bro saraiki has many dialects as well just like any other language, so you can probably understand the dialect which is more closer to punjabi the other dialects are probably different.
@@rayanrajput2333 Punjabi is the broad grouping of these similar indo-aryan languages. I am Potohari speaking and really most of the Indo-Aryan languages are intelligible, some more than others.
@@dubiouswords7851 thats true all the northan Indian and eastern Pakiatani langauges share alot of vocabulary but that does not mean all are just one language, probably they have evolved from indo-Arayan group but at present they all are considered different languages, so saraiki is a separate language, though it historically was considered as dialect of punjabi but actually it is separate language.
@@rayanrajput2333 who is the authority that decides? If you read up on the subject, you will see there is disagreement between linguists in academia, never mind lay people. Here’s one point of view: In the context of South Asia, the choice between the appellations "language" and "dialect" is a difficult one, and any distinction made using these terms is obscured by their ambiguity. In a sense both Siraiki and Standard Panjabi are "dialects" of a "Greater Punjabi" macrolanguage.”
Very well said brother. Punjabi and Seraiki are one language that are mutually intelligible. Punjab has been destroyed by politics first on the basis of religion and now on the basis on language. In Pakistan it’s Punjabi-Seraiki-Potohari issue and in India it is Punjabi-Dogri-Kangri issue. On top of all this the imposition of Urdu and Hindi has left us without a mother tongue.

In my opinion, the language spoken around the five rivers is Punjabi and the area where Saraiki is spoken comes under this region so it's Punjabi only. It's that simple
Whoever told you the history of "Saraiki" term is wrong, first of all its not derived from the Sindhi word "Suraili" but Siroli aka Sireli previously known as Siraiki, second thing Siroli/Sireli is a recent adopted term for "Siraiki" a dialect of Sindhi, it was renamed to not get it confused with Saraiki language of South Punjab, who took this Siraiki word from us, but still Siraiki is the commonly used term in Sindh for Sindhi dialect. The third thing Siroli does not mean (Sweet or Upper region or North). The word Siroli/Sireli & Siraiki both literally means "Of Siro/Sero". It is common in Indian Subcontinent to use "I" or "Ki" in end of a word to make anything being belonging to something/someone, other examples like Jatki, Dhatki, Khetranki, Riasti etc. Now Siro/Sero is a Sindhi word which some say it means "Head" in Sindhi but being Sindhi I don't think we call head as Siro but rather we say (Matho or Sir) for head, Siro/Sero is actually the corrupted word for "Sauvira" an ancient kingdom of ancient Sindh. As in Sindhi, we change the ending of single nouns into "O" so Sauvira becomes Sauviro, and over time, it shortened to Siro/Sero a name of region in ancient Sindh, which started from Kashmore and some parts of Jacobabad till Multan, infact Multan was once the capital of Sindh. And that region is still called as Siro in Sindh, and their inhabitants were and are still called as Sirai/Serai just like other regions of Sindh for example "Uttar" (which actually means "North" in Sindhi) which is another region of Sindh, its people, dialect, culture, food, traditions and anything which comes/belong from that region is termed as Uttaradi, same is for other regions like Lari, Lasi, Vicholi, Thari, Thareli, Dhatki, Kutchi etc. This is the correct historical information about the origin of Saraiki word. Also many Punjabis argue that Saraiki was not used before 1960s something, but they don't know that Saraiki was actually used in Sindh since very ancient times for its own dialect as Siraiki, whereas South Punjab's language was more commonly known by local terms like Multani, Derawali, Bahawalpuri etc and Lahanda was the umbrella term for these local names as well as for other Lahanda languages like Potohari, Hindko, etc. South Punjab's people took Siraiki word from Sindhis and used it for themselves to create their distinct identity from other Lahanda people, as their language, culture, is more close to Sindhis.
Saraiki is not a language it's just dialect. I m from south Punjab Bahawalnagar. I am studying in IUB bahawalpur. I agree with u there is no difference between culture Language & caste. People in bahawalpur wears tehmat and Pagri. No one is wearing Ajrak topi here. Ajrak topi is sindhi brand. We r all Punjabis. I am a Punjabi from Rahim Yar Khan, Brother, You Are Wrong! 1- Saraiki is very much different from Punjabi. Those who speak fluent Saraiki we can't even understand them. 2- There is a huge divide in our area between Punjabis and Saraikis, reason for that is the development. Most of the Central and Northern Punjab is well developed as compared to our South region. Central and Northern include mostly Punjabis while the South mostly includes Saraikis. They also make fun of us that you are migrants and you occupied our lands. So, the divide is real no political party is playing any tactics here. 3- I too have my most relatives in Lahore, Faislabad and Gujranwala and I can confidently say this that they know nothing about the condition of South, all they say that this is the tactic to divide Punjab and all that. 4- I being Punjabi and resident of South also demand a separate province as "South Punjab" or "Saraikistan" because this divide is real and you cannot suppress a majority of people from their basic rights of development. The residents of Upper Punjab know nothing about this region. You have to visit and live in any area before saying anything about that area's politics as Imran Khan said that he lived in tribal areas and knew about their politics well same goes for any area and its politics. Summary: Saraikis and Punjabis are very different. Both have their own culture. "Saraiki Sooba" or "South Punjab" is inevitable for the development of this area. PS: My grandparents migrated from Muridwal,Jalandhar,Punjab,India.

Brother, ak sawal hy mera k Translator ki zaroorat to phr Punjabi r Urdu bolne walon ko bhi nh parti jab wo apus me bat krte hain. Phr Urdu r Punjabi ki mukhtalif zabanain q smjha jata hai? Isn't it mutual intelligibility? 😊 Here are some of the most mutually intelligible languages in the world: 1. Scandinavian Languages: 1.1 Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish: These languages are so closely related that speakers can often understand each other without formal language learning. Germanic Languages: 1.2 Dutch and Afrikaans: While the spoken forms have diverged, the written forms are highly similar, making them mutually intelligible to a large extent. 2. Romance Languages: 2.1 Spanish and Portuguese: These languages share a significant amount of vocabulary and grammar, making them partially mutually intelligible, especially in written form. 2.2 Spanish and Catalan: These languages are also quite similar, especially in written form. 3. Slavic Languages: 3.1 Serbo-Croatian: This language has four standardized varieties (Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, and Serbian) that are highly mutually intelligible. 4. Other Notable Examples: 4.1 Malay and Indonesian: These languages are very similar, with Indonesian being the standardized form. 4.2 Hindi and Urdu: While these languages have distinct scripts and cultural associations, they share a large amount of vocabulary and grammar, making them partially mutually intelligible. It's important to note that mutual intelligibility can vary greatly depending on factors such as dialect, accent, and individual language proficiency. Additionally, while some languages may be highly mutually intelligible, cultural and historical factors can still influence communication and understanding.

it came from Sindh's northern districts to Punjab. siraiki means a language of north. now you can call it Multani, you can call it Punjabi. I was always been able to understand Multani, derawali or saraiki without any support which means we just need to sync our dialects.
Its not about dividing, indian punjab was also divided in 3 states, south punjab is so underdeveloped that is the main reason i feel why they want to get separate province, also saraiki has its own culture and literature, but due to living with punjabis it has somehow became similar to punjabi culture.
@Shubhjit Majumder if thats the case then south punjab was also not always been part of mainland punjab, even before partition bahawalpur was an independent princely state. So if now they want to be separated then its their choice.

Whoever gave you the history of "Siroli" term is wrong, first of all its not Suraili but Siroli aka Sireli second thing Siroli is recent adopted term for Siraiki dialect of Sindhi to not get it confused with Saraiki language of South Punjab, who took it from us, but still Siraiki is the widely used term in Sindh for Sindhi dialect. Third thing Siroli does not mean (Sweet or Upper region or North). The word Siraiki and Siroli literally means "Of Siro/Sero". It is common in Indian Subcontinent to use "I" or "Ki" in end of a word to make anything being belonging to a something/someone, other examples Jatki, Dhatki, Khetranki, Riasti etc. Now Siro/Sero is a Sindhi word which some say it means "Head" in Sindhi but being Sindhi I don't think we called head as Siro but rather we say (Matho or Sir) for head, Siro probably can be the corrupted word for "Sauvira" an ancient kingdom of ancient Sindh. As in Sindhi we change ending of Single nouns into "O" so Sauvira becomes Sauviro, and over time, it shortened to Siro/Sero. And Siro/Sero is a name of region in ancient Sindh, which started from Kashmore and some parts of Jacobabad till Multan, infact Multan was once the capital of Sindh. And that region was is still called as Siro in Sindh, and their inhabitants were and are still called as Sirai/Serai just like other regions of Sindh for example "Uttar" (which actually means "North" in Sindhi) region of Sindh, its people, culture, food, traditions and anything which comes from that region is termed as Uttaradi, same is for other regions like Lari, Vicholi, Thari, Dhatki etc. This is right information about History of Saraiki word of Language.

Punjabi is geographical region not a political one.

Multani is correct term . Saraiki is a word invented in the 1960

I am Potohari speaking and really most of the Indo-Aryan languages are intelligible, some more than others.
yes it's political like urdu and hindi
@@dubiouswords7851 thats true all the northan Indian and eastern Pakiatani langauges share alot of vocabulary but that does not mean all are just one language, probably they have evolved from indo-Arayan group but at present they all are considered different languages, so saraiki is a separate language, though it historically was considered as dialect of punjabi but actually it is separate language.
@@rayanrajput2333 who is the authority that decides? If you read up on the subject, you will see there is disagreement between linguists in academia, never mind lay people.
Here’s one point of view:
In the context of South Asia, the choice between the appellations "language" and "dialect" is a difficult one, and any distinction made using these terms is obscured by their ambiguity. In a sense both Siraiki and Standard Panjabi are "dialects" of a "Greater Punjabi" macrolanguage.”
Saraiki is new name. Multani is old name of dialect of Punjabi.

Saraiki never existed its a made up term by political parties, saraiki was know as multani dailect of panjabi before partition of pakistan and india
Informative as always. Baut vadiya

Sat Sri Akal veer ji, do you have any other social media accounts such as Instagram? If so you should definitely promote them on this channel

Isn't it mutual intelligibility? 😊
Here are some of the most mutually intelligible languages in the world:
1. Scandinavian Languages:
1.1 Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish: These languages are so closely related that speakers can often understand each other without formal language learning.
Germanic Languages:
1.2 Dutch and Afrikaans: While the spoken forms have diverged, the written forms are highly similar, making them mutually intelligible to a large extent.
2. Romance Languages:
2.1 Spanish and Portuguese: These languages share a significant amount of vocabulary and grammar, making them partially mutually intelligible, especially in written form.
2.2 Spanish and Catalan: These languages are also quite similar, especially in written form.
3. Slavic Languages:
3.1 Serbo-Croatian: This language has four standardized varieties (Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, and Serbian) that are highly mutually intelligible.
4. Other Notable Examples:
4.1 Malay and Indonesian: These languages are very similar, with Indonesian being the standardized form.

So if now they want to be separated then its their choice.
hamari history ko agar google ya social main nhi mention kia gaya to yeh hamari kotahi hai. Well i am working on it upload full history on wikipedia and other social platforms. Because people believe on internet world instead of libraries. That is real fact

Saraiki is more older than panjabi. Punjabiyon ne apni history parh li hai Saraikiyon ki history parh lo multan library main ja k saraiki language is 5000 old. Saraiki zaban k apne accent hain jin main kuch accent punjabiyon ko samjh aa jatey hai. Ziyadi behas na karen.

Ap jo saraiki songs suntey ho ya kisi saraiki se baat karte ho wo easy words use kar k ap se baat karta hai ya kuch saraiki songs main easy word use kiyeh jatey hain ta k dosri languages walo logo ko samajh aa jaeen. Abhi sindhi bhaiyon or balochi bhaiyon ko bhi saraiki samjh ati hai is ka matlab yeh to nhi k saraiki balochi or sindhi zaban ka lehja hai. Mere kaafi baroohi , sindhi & balochi dost hain jab wo baat karte hain to mujhe kuch samajh ati hai un ki …. is ka matlab yeh to nhi hai k wo saraiki k accents hain. Lihaza punjabi ko saraiki se door rakheen. Hum jab pure saraiki boltey hain to Punjabi bhaiyon , sindhi bhaiyon k upar se guzar jati. Mere kaafi punjabi colleagues hain Dubai main jin ko kuch samajh nhi ati jab main saraiki bolta hon. Wo mujh se puthey hain k flan lafz ka kya matlab hai.

Punjabis are the biggest ethnic group in pakistan and pakistan is is afraid of punjab becoming a nation like Bangladesh, that's why it's trying so hard at suppressing the punjabi identify and declaring different punjabi variates as separate languages.
