I make my tteokbokki with scotch bonnets...since that's the starting level of heat I grew up with. I eat ghost peppers and my mom calls me a "hellfire loving demon" lol.

Very similar to how I learned to make it from my mom, though I use the beef soup stock instead, lots of garlic, doenjang instead of MSG, and add green onions at last minute. It's much more savory than the stuff I can find in restaurants here in US.

Thank you for posting this! So many posts about this awesome food!!! Nobody can even pronounce the ingredients, much less the dish. I don't think Americans understand how precise the pronunciation of Hangul really is. Romanizing the pronunciation of words barely works.

So, do you also not eat tomato, yeast, soy, or cheese? There is absolutely NOTHING dangerous about MSG. That is a myth that started in the 1970s in America and is patently ridiculous.
But do go on and leave out the MSG so your dish doesn't taste as good!
@@lisahinton9682 Such an angry person, you are. Research published by the NIH states MSG negatively affects the brain, nervous system, reproductive and endocrine systems. (The NIH leads research in the U.S, in case you aren’t an academic person- which it sounds like you are.) But you go right ahead, since not having it makes you angry.

Nice recipe but no MSG please!! Think about the coming baby ❤!!
1 tbsp dashi
green onion
grated onion
cold water half cup
one tbsp gochujang
gochugaru one tbsp
one tbsp and half white sugar
one tbsp plum extract
msg one tsp
low heat 15 minutes reduce gentle simmer
fish cake and tteboki
350 ml water one half cup
add sauce
high heat boil 10 minutes with lid
reduce heat to medium 10 minutes mix it

I noticed that Korean foods are way too sweet.
I lived in Busan for about 3 or 4 weeks. Nice area, nicer people....but my stomach doesn't tolerate spicy food, therefore i couldn't really enjoy korean food. Every where i went the food was way to spicy for me. I wish i would have traveled to korean in my teens vice by 40ths.😂😂😂
