thanx for prompting me to finally do this. I just did it to my 79 series twin cab except that I used Sony 4" instead of the Pioneers as the local supercrap didnt have the pioneers. the difference in sound quality with this upgrade is very very noticeable. an important point, the speakers have a positive and negative spade connection and it's best to connect to the respective pos and neg wires in the vehicles harness for correct polarity to get best results otherwise the sound quality is compromised. easy to check by using a multimeter on the vehicle wires to check which is pos or neg. will still work if wired up wrong but speakers wont perform as well or if one side wired correctly but the other side not then they would be out of phase. you can also get a pair of Aerpro adpators APS32 that plug into the existing vehicle harness then onto the new speakers
The speaker mounting holes appear to not line up. The top screw is a self tapper into the plastic and not the original mounting point. Or am I missing something? Looks a good upgrade though.
Thanks for the interest Robert. The holes did line up with these speakers. I just lost a screw and used what ever I had as it is the work truck. However if a different speaker was used it would be very easy to used a self tapper into the plastic. Cheers

thanks for showing and now I'm going to do this, what Pioneer speakers are they?
They are the same speakers I use in the 200 dash speakers episode. Only about $50
Easy peasy😂🚗🚕🚓
Too easy
