Yes, with how we used our phones, it doesn't make sense to be an iPhone user. I prefer customization, cool communication software features like Call Screening, and better hardware overall. Android has my heart lol.

after 10+ year with apple i just switched to the Z fold 5 last week and i freaking love it! still have alot of tips and tricks to learn but so far it is amazing. its truly a breath of fresh air, i was simply just bored with my iphones really, nothing new nothing innovating.

well i got a macbook pro, Aripods pro 2 and airpods Max, Apple Watch, Apple TV and an ipad lol so yea i still am in the eco system lol but honestly most of this stuff works perfectly on its own i dont need it hooked up to my phone. The only exception is the watch@@Saul5Cruz
I switched from an iPhone and I love the hardware. Multi tasking on my fold is amazing. My biggest issues come from the limitations of Android. It just doesn't feel as polished, the app store is filled with apps that have UIs straight out of a 70s SciFi movie, and the native apps sucks. For instance, I couldn't find a good equivalent to Apple Notes and the lack of iMessage is seriously annoying in a country where 90% of the population uses it. Finally, my last issue is unlocking the phone. The lack of a Face ID equivalent is just unacceptable in 2023. The side button just fails too often and doesn't have palm rejection.
Regardless, I still prefer my Fold 5 so far.
iMessage just isn't a thing over here in the UK as most people either use Messenger or WhatsApp (I don't even use FaceTime or AirDrop, ever!). The app store (not Google Store right?) has notoriously always been filled with shite but at least it doesn't have these arseholes tricking you into downloading an app where you can customise your wallpaper, theme or ringtones etc to then find you have to pay some ludicrous yearly payment on the iPhone. On my iPhone I use Google Keep (Notes), Google One, Chrome, Photos, Maps etc which makes me wonder why I'm actually on an iPhone lol.
But a couple of things you have mentioned which I'm kinda on the fence with not moving over to the Fold 5 is the lack of polish and FaceID! I only moved back over to Apple a couple of years ago and everything about the experience just works spot on! I've heard horror stories of the banking apps (Google/Samsung pay) not working when paying for goods? AirPlay is another thing which works flawlessly and using my wifes Galaxy 21U proved that when I tried to stream from her phone.

Remember that you can set up multiple fingerprints, set up a 2nd one and do it from different angles. I did that and as soon as I touch mine it's unlocked, it NEVER fails. And what does apple notes have that Samsung notes doesn't? I've used Samsung notes for years and it has everything I needed and wanted
Android has face identification. Dig through your settings. I used it multiple times today on my fold 5.
Also my fingerprint sensor works fine all the time. Respectfully, this sounds like operator error. Android has gotten a LOT better through the years. But yes there are still some sucky apps- maybe because apple is way more strict with their app store.

I could not agree more. Went from a 14 Pro Max to a Z Fold 5. I have been a part of the entire Apple ecosystem for a very long time now. I have used iPhones since the very first one. In addition to the iPhone, I have multiple iPads, multiple Macs, an Apple Watch (don't really use it though) and Apple TVs throughout the whole house. The idea of moving from Apple to Android for the first time was scary, and took a long time to think it though. The folding phones in general have had my attention since the first ones, and it's taken this long for me to be brave enough to take the plunge. And my god, am I glad I did. I can't remember the last time I have been so excited and happy with the upgrade to my phone. I truly can't believe the difference between the two, and what I have been missing out on. I have had a single android in the past as a work phone which I absolutely hated. This was a long time ago though as I am fairly sure it was a Galaxy S2 (or maybe 3). I think it's been in the back of my mind how much I hated it, but Android has come such a long way. I could not be happier with this phone, and there is nothing so far that I am missing about my iPhone. I've had my Z Fold 5 for just over a week now. In that week, I realised how long I have been wrong thinking that iPhones are better. So much so, I'm about to get one of the Samsung tablets.
Fold' multitasking is very usefull when take it for work or everyday life
Not only is the screen on the Z Fold 5 larger but the colors of the display is clearly ahead of the iphone 14 po max display.

3:20 Alright, while I’m sold on the idea of switching from my iPhone XR to a Z Fold when I can afford it, I feel like this isn’t a very realistic depiction of what anyone’s *actually* gonna do with multitasking. There’s a time and a place where having two apps side-by-side is helpful, I do it a few times a week on my iPad, but I’m sure as heck not gonna be opening up three unrelated apps and doing three separate tasks at the same time. If I have one task that requires multiple apps, like sending text messages in the messages app to a list of people I have in a PDF, yeah, very useful to be able to split the screen. But I’m not about to doomscroll on Twitter, browse something else on Chrome, and search for a new app at the same time. Those are three entirely unrelated things and I cannot focus on all three at once.
I switched from an iPhone 14 Pro Max to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 a couple of weeks ago. So far I like the large inner screen and the fast performance of the Fold 5. But I'm still getting use to the skinnier outer screen which makes my typing on it to have more errors. Most of my friends and family have iPhones and I have discovered a few times when they sent me text messages with pictures or videos, my Fold 5 doesn't receive those text messages, as I believed due to some incompatibility between iMessage and Android MMS with certain picture size limit or format. Some of my friends thought I was ignoring their text messages but I actually never received some of their text messages. I also missed some of the iMessage capabilities such as the easy copy and paste functionalities, etc. I also found that the Fold 5 runs hot or warm at times which I didn't experienced with the iPhone 14 Pro Max. I'll see how the Fold 5 goes. If the missed text messages continues, I may switch back to iPhone when the iPhone 15 comes out.
I made the same switch about a week ago, and initially had the same struggle with the second screen. Are you still using the standard Samsung keyboard? I couldn't get on very well with the outside screen either, until I changed the keyboard to the Google keyboard (GBoard). From that point, I've been using the outside screen happily. I'm now using the outside screen about half the time I'm using the phone overall. Before changing the keyboard, I was using the phone opened all the time which was a bit of a hassle.
Also, hold fire with the messages issue. Apparently Apple are fixing that issue soon. If you text from android to android, the message goes through as an android version of an iMessage. Apple just haven't ever accepted these types of internet message. But apparently, Apple are going to rectify this soon, which will make sending photos and videos from an Android to an iPhone a much smoother process. Look it up on Google and you will find info that's described in a much better way than I have described it here.
@@HarryDunlopClark Thanks for the tip. I just changed from the Samsung keyboard to the Google keyboard and it’s much easier to use with the outside smaller screen.

My brother has used every phone from pixel to pro max to 23 ultra. He says the user experience of iPhone is unmatched. The ease of use the speed the software the buttery experience and the resale value of iPhone is top class.
iphone sucks. it's good for the technologically illiterate. sucks for power users.
I think in the end it's about what people are used to. I've heard plenty of times that Macbooks are user friendlier and easier as well than Microsoft. But we all grew up using all the windows and Microsoft stuff so most people in the world including companies all using that makes macbooks really difficult to use even though they are technically easier. I find android much easier to use than iPhone and my friends iPhone 13 is a lot less responsive and quick than my Flip3 which isn't the best phone. The only thing that is definitely better on an iPhone is usually the battery life and indeed the resale price. But that is really it. Other than that it is all personal to what people find easier to use. And it depends per phone whether the camera is better or not etc etc. I find iphone highly unfriendly to use since you need so many things from apple to be able to use it. They make everything different and separate from android just to make money. The fact that it can be sold again for a high price is just what fan people would give for it rather than it actually being worth that. It's like how a Chanel or Hermes bag has a good re-sell price. They aren't necessarily nicer or better. It's just what a weirdo wants to give for it😆 my almost 70 year old father had the iPhone first and then I gave him my old android. Now he wants to get rid of the iPhone because it has so many specific things you have to keep up with or buy just for iPhone and he doesn't understand it as well as android. I customized android also for him and also for my mom that the apps and the whole theme don't have all those bright colors but just a calm beige theme. For people who can't deal with all that stuff going on on smartphones it's really nice android let's you just out everything the way you want and you can chose a nice and calm theme or customize the apps individually to make it more suitable depending on the person's needs.

I have both iPhone 14 Pro Max and zfold 5….i can definitely say that the zfold is way faster and smoother…..but android right now cannot touch iMessage…so if you’re in a family that all use iPhone…it’s tough..mainly because of pics and videos

Anyone who owns a Fold 5 or older, please chime in. I want to buy this phone, but I’m hesitant due to the durability of the hinge and inner display. I’d like to keep the Fold 5 for at least 2 years before upgrading. I currently own a Note 20 Ultra 5G and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Would love to hear your thoughts on the durability. TIA

If u accedently put your nail on the fold can you just replace the screen protector and its gone ?
If you just put your nail on the screen, nothing happens. The protector is quite durable. If you scrach the protector, Samsung replaces it for free. It was my experience with Fold3, now I have Fold5. The same eperience with Flip3 and now Flip5. It's a myth about fragile inner displays (except first two generations). Now the technology is mature and fully usable.

The FOLD destroys any iphone on usability- and productivity options, innovation, gaming- and multi-media experience. It even beats the iphone on security.

Switching from iPhone 13 Pro to Fold 5. Only thing that I don't like its lack of Apples face ID (it's really superior) and I find better integration of Apple pay in apple compared to Google pay in android. But in other aspects compared to iP13Pro is Fold 5 better. Let's see if it lasts for 4-5 years like my iPhones before.
Until FaceID sensors go under the display it's just a waste of screen relestate & anoyig as hell on full screen content. Fingerprints are more than secure enough. Fingerprint sensore weren't worth adding to the front of a phone until they went under the display or were integrated into the power button.
@@Lee.S321 I just think about relative safety. As FaceID on Apple is 3D scan basically, it can't be fooled by picture or video. Sadly even on hi-tech phone like Fold 5 you can fool it. Once you get used to face ID you like it. But it's only thing I kinda don't like about Fold 5. It's really great phone.
@@TomPaur Basically no one uses facial recognition because fingerprint unlock is the primary method. I don't even understand why they bother including it on Android phones, no-one uses it, it's just something that's thrown in for the hell of it as an afterthought software feature. Maybe when sensors go under the display like fingerprint sensors it'll be included on Android phones too, but for now the iPhone implementation is an eyesore.

Depends man. I’m in the same boat. What are your priorities if it’s pictures and videos and having the always cumbersome size of the s23ultra isn’t and issue along with having a Bluetooth s pen. Stick with the s23 ultra. If you need a tablet and your focus is productivity and barely use the s pen air commands and don’t use it to take pictures go with the fold. I don’t need a tablet and am enjoying the s23 ultra so I just got the tab s9. Hopefully next year they have integrated s pen and wider outer display and if the trend follows you’ll still get 1000.00 for your year old s23 ultra.
@@armandogomez2677 I want the fold 5 for two things gaming and RUclips , my s23 ultra is amazing for gaming , RUclips, I also watch movies with my girl late at night. And I guess that's It. But when I use the fold 4 I love the overall screens the outer screen is really crisp and smooth just a little narrow, but the main display is so immersive it's almost crazy how great it is. However I want to see two things the gaming performance and the battery... If it's not great I will wait and hopefully they have built in s pen, better battery, way better cameras and better outer display just a few centimeters bigger overall not too much

@@anthonyhernandez6230 i prefer the apple watch over the samsung watch, facetime to all my family members. my icloud has over 10 years worth of data, iphone works flawlessly with my macbook as a webcam, and my iphone is already paid off, and i have 3 phones on my plan one for me my wife and my daughter. so to add another phone it would only cost me an extra $50 a month and because i would have 4 phones on my plan, the plan cost the same as if i had 3. an extra $50 a month to experience this amazing phone vs if i upgrade my iphone to this, i would only spend $30 less a month. the $20 difference is a no brainer to me to experience both. long complicated answer but i hope i was able to make it make sense.

I really really wanted to keep the Fold 5, but the iPhone 14 pro max battery life was almost double the Fold 5. Hopefully they’ll improve the battery next year so I can leave Apple next year.

To be fair to Apple they used to make a folding iPhone, but, everyone made fun of them solely for the crime of being an innovator.
On a serious note; I'd rather have an S23U over the best iPhone. While it misses out on the Fold specific things, everything else you mentioned rings true. Plus, something that all Samsung Galaxies do better than Apple is Bluetooth audio. The best Bluetooth audio codec Apple supports is AAC. Which is fine; my Buds2 Pro use AAC when connected to non Samsung devices. It sounds good. But; that Samsung Seamless Codec is something else. When you pair a Samsung Galaxy with Samsung audio hardware you get something amazing. Not just the 24 bit sound quality which is awesome in its own right; but, I want to talk about the remarkable lack of latency.
Usually when you game with BT headphones you always hear what happened a second after it happens on screen. That's a large part of why people who complain about the removal of headphone jacks are complaining. I was one of them. But, these Galaxy Buds with that SSC Bluetooth and the Game Mode turned on in the Wear app are effectively as good as wired. If there's latency you'll never notice. That's not something you can get on an iPhone at any price.

@@reckyaup9417 It was a joke about the iPhone 6; the iPhone that famously would bend/fold in your pocket due to structural deficiencies. According to Apple's own internal testing, which later got publicized, the 6 and 6 Plus were something like 300% more bendy, for lack of a better word, than their standards. I don't remember if this testing was done during the development phase and the powers that be decided to ship a substandard phone anyways, or if it was done after the complaints started rolling in. Either way it doesn't make Apple engineering look all that good.

Last time I checked my Fold 5 didn't destroy my mighty iPhone 14 Pro Max. But the Fold 5 though, needs special care like a special child needs special attention because of its fragile condition. 🙄
Ones a tool, and ones a toy
Although I can agree with many things said, there are others I'm not so sure about. Per example, you say you can open three windows and multitask on three Fold but at the end you find yourself with three tiny windows barely usable. while on an ipad or even an iPhone you can copy paste or even drag and drop between apps without losing screen real estate. While on an ipad mini you can split the screen and do the same. At the end it is a matter of preference I guess.

Wish Android phone manufacturers provided longer security support. Apple does software support better, though I still think Android is better.
The Fold 5 can’t even destroy its own actual competition. Which would be foldable phones. Why? Because the outside screen is so ridiculous that I can only sit and laugh at it.
