    This is the first thing many people ask me when they start learning animation: What is the best animation software they should use?
    But like with many things in life, the answer is: It depends...
    The animation software mentioned in the video:
    OpentToonz
    Krita
    Pencil2d

    I used to think software was a determining factor to how good an animation looked. Looking back on that time, I grew to realize you could have the lowest end software out there, and you could still make good animation. Hell, you could even use paper and pencil and the main determining factor to how good it looks would still be how good you are at animation.

      Paper and a pen are the best tools to learn and to do animation. Digital tools are, by the name, digital tools to be faster. But, as said in the vid, these digital tools won't help to produce good animation.

    Open toonz was first used by studio ghibli in for some cuts of princess mononoke. Probably one of the most legendary animated films of all time (up there with Akira)

    Can I make animation without any painting knowledge because it is very difficult to learn painting and then try animation .

    • @AnimatorIsland
      @AnimatorIsland  2 года назад

      For 2D animation you need to be good at drawing first (not necessarily painting - colors can be something you dive into later). If you want to animate without drawing skills, you could look into 3D animation and use character rigs that other artists created.

    I love using Epic Pen but with Windows v1903 update will not even open. I can't find any help online to get it working. Any suggestions?

    • @AnimatorIsland
      @AnimatorIsland  4 года назад +1

      A clean un- and reinstall usually helps with software that breaks after an update - ideally from a different windows admin account than the one you usually work with (this is the magic tip for broken Adobe software). I have a font manager that needs that every time after an update. Gotta test if Epic Pen is still working for me when I am back at the desk.

      @@AnimatorIsland I had to do a clean install because I replaced my motherboard so new Windows, new everything, no Epic Pen.

      Hmm can't do much better than a fresh Windows install. I checked on my PC, I got update 1903 installed since July and I can still use Epic Pen. Hopefully the developer can help you out.

      @@AnimatorIsland I got it working by downloading the latest version. Thanks for your help.
