We really hit the lottery to be able to live and explore here. Took me a bit to find this on the map, talk about remote! I think most people really can’t begin to comprehend how vast the island really is. The colour and detail on some of these drone shots is some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen Congratulations on the insane route finding and climbing. And on the film to go with it! Imagine this on IMAX!
Well done, its buried deep out there but there are enough landmarks to find it. Being a privatly built trail and serious backcountry stuff after the initial first up I'm not broadcasting where it's at. I know if I just put it on all trails people would probably end up dead or worse trying to climb those walls. Imax haha I've only seen it on my 27" monitor.
Your film is incredible. Turn off the sound and still mic drop, incredible. You’ve got such an artistic skill. Beautiful. I was holding my breath, literally. I long to hike these mountains, and you guys are so inspiring, yet with your vulnerability, it becomes a tangible, relatable, horrible yet beautiful story that you lead us on. Brilliant filmography - do NOT let hackers and “followers” beat you down. Do not let a monopolized corporation be the despair to your soul. Nor let one wayward person tear you down. You’ve got skillz and life …. And you are reigniting life in those of us who watch these epic adventures…. And this imo is the best thus far!
Keep fighting and have faith in yourself. We love your videos and your message - so many Canadians rely on you to promote sanity, truth, honesty and expose the corruption, and remind the powers that be that we resist. God bless you and keep you.
I live in mb. We have such beautiful country. You have inspired me to get back out and enjoy nature. I miss B.C. I am from Ab. But have lived in different places. Canada has beautiful provinces. Get out there and enjoy life. Thankyou beautiful shots!
I'd check in with Chris on this first acent. When we were on Ptarmigan Ridge, we talked with him, and he reports being up all those peaks in there. Great shots, as always.
I have since talked with Chris and Jane about it. They got across to the "Dragon Head mountain but were unable to summit. They made it to what they call "Reflection' which is before the last big tarn before the last climb to the summit. Someone did beat me to these summits and a few others i am still after.
Beautiful. Watching from Saskatoon Saskatchewan. I watch your video's all the time. Everytime i see pll hiking or around mountains it always reminds me of the video by Pink Floyd its called. Mud men. ❤
Just found this channel from following MOTL channel. Wow what an adventure. Beautiful drone shots . Thanks for explaining all the aspects of it to us- the mental and physical. It doesn't matter that you didn't get there first, but that you did it. I am surprised that you released this as one video as opposed to a two part? Looking forward to more adventures.
I was testing out doing a longer video to see if that pops off in the YT algorthm. On MOTL the longer the videos I make the bigger chance they'll pop off into the 100k+ views of course based on the topic but youtube does love long videos. I have one more coming out soon that is 38 minutes. Going forward I'll try a bunch that are divided into mulitple 1 and 2 parts if its multi day. At the end of the day these videos don't make me much money. This one will make me $10 for 50 hours of work. Still chasing a dream with it, people watch foresty forest who is doing the same thing (120k+ views a video) so maybe one day I'll be valued as he is? I'm pairing down my camera gear to make it more fun for me, we'll see how long i keep making them.
Also….. Coming off watching the latest season of north shore rescue (and talking to a couple guys I know) it would actually be really cool to see a film of NSR analyze this film age with their commentary and advice, or even just for you to interview. I bet one of them would, in regards to hikes in general. You give an excellent in-depth idea of just how much one can prepare and yet end up in dangerous circumstances regardless. Such extreme terrain…. You guys are stellar!
Thanks for taking us on your adventure! So beautiful and amazing, especially the drone shots of the rock formations. I guess you didnt meet any animals ( other than wasps) out there?
Excellent video, David👍... I've been hanging around Vancouver Island since 1980, on and off, hiked climbed explored and engineered all over the island..... And I'll be darned if I know where these three mountains are? Unless you mean the triple peaks. Speaking from the background of forest engineering, I can tell you Vancouver Island has some of the worst and highest concentrations of granitic "Cliff Bands".. very challenging
Hey Andy these are out by tofino. I didn't specifically show where it is on the map because this isnt a place for the average hiker to go test themselves out at. There is a large band of mountains that has never been logged east of tofino thats where this is at.
I have like 5 haha. I have a silent hiking one too for those who just want quiet peace. Also had one with 1/4 million subs called earth titan that was educational content until it got hacked and yt deleted it :(
"God's country " Absolutely stunning. Mountains are easy to climb. Did another of berry picking in some. David, you really should try picking boots like Donald has on. Big difference on hiking them mountains.
1 lbs on your feet feels like 5 lbs on your back, boots are better for tough terrian like rocks but the lighter the footwear the less wear it takes on ones muscles over a long day. That's why I wear trail runners. I'd wear boots for rock scree in alberta though.
I didn't even know the island had all of that. People don't realize how beautiful Canada really is. Explore your own backyard before going anywhere else.
That hidden mountaintop lake was beautiful. Maybe to avoid the bees , you can hike in winter. What is the purpose of the ding dong on of the mountain if it has any and is that What it's really called.
RUclips used to auto upload all these videos but they don't allow that anymore. I've tried uploading but I don't get any views over there so it isn't worth my time.
I didn't share specific details of where it is because I know some unprepared hikers would probably try it out and end up dead or worse. I do have the gpx track for more hardcore people to follow as part of my "wilderness adventurer" tier on my patreon which is linked in the description as a way to generate a bit more revenue as these videos take a ton of work and essentially make me less than $5 each upload.
we don't put trail tape down, so we just follow our track we created but on big walls it doesn't help you becuase the gps isn't accurate enough. Often we are creating new routes close to where we were to get back. Sometimes you'll push through a bush but going back the branches are pointed at you not allowing easy access. One that that really helps is my framed shots solidfy my knowledge of where to go. I remember where I setup my tripod so that usually helps a lot.
@@IdRatherBeHiking Thanks for the reply David, but I was only joking. Back in the early 60's as kids we'd joke about using breadcrumbs so we could fine our back through the wooded areas. I figured as experienced hikers you no doubt had that part covered. Nice trip and coverage.

Cheers I love having the MOTL supporters over here
Love your videos David, I get excited when you release a new one, definitely one of my favorite youtube channels.
Cheers Adam
This is my sentiment exactly. Forget the politics - climb some mountains!
@@Smart_cooky haha mountains unfortunatly don't pay bills. Most of these mountain videos make $3 each.
@@themooseonthelooseah….. so politics pays does it??;)
Absolutely magnificent ♥️🕊🇨🇦
Amazing climb! Great video. Stay safe!🇨🇦🙏
Beautiful, exciting, brutal, thanks for taking us along.
cheers

bc is one of a kind! Alberta is good too just cold haha
Some of those areas are pretty dangerous. Those worms are good protein 😂❤🕊🇨🇦
LOL, I didn't mention in the video but I've been vegan 9 years so a little more off putting for me.
Very cool!! Thank you David, glad I found your second channel! Love it. Wishing you big success.
kudos for hiking and bush wacking in shorts I hike in northern Ontario so I feel the bush wacking great video David keep up the good work
I used to do long pants but I have to go with shorts now, just a lot less heat generated
I just came back from a 'mini hike' where I live in Kamloops. Then I got to watch this epic adventure!! Woo hoo!! Fanfreakingtastic!!
Kamloops you have those dry also desert rocks, some big elevation gain around there.

Ben's got the official first ascent on it, as Donald said there Chris didn't go up what Donald and I called the 80 degree wall.
Well done!
What a stunning filming and editing man! Bravo 👏👏
Cheers buddy
WAUW 🤩🤩🤩🤩 David, this is so amazing what you do. I Love watching your video's You Rock Dude!!!!! Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱

Thx for sharing this fantastic hike.
Great views! Nice video footage. Awesome to think of who made those mountains! He invented all this!
What an epic journey! Great footage as usual David.

Thank you for the beautiful video you put together, loved watching!
Cheers
Wow. brave, bold. beautiful hike. alpine is so much nicer than the most of the trails I hike on the island
The forst offers nice shade, a good mix is good in summer but the alpine is more beautiful
Wow, beautiful. You must of felt like you could touch the sky . I got my exercie watching :)
haha ya it was quiet the journey
Thanks for taking us on your adventure! So beautiful and amazing, especially the drone shots of the rock formations. I guess you didnt meet any animals ( other than wasps) out there?
no animals, no scat nothing. Didn't have to worry about bears at least

oh of course, avoid the ones with frogs in it though
Nuts and maggots trail mix... You're so hardcore bro! I'm at time 26:52 so far, on with it! Cheers!!!

Wow

That hidden mountaintop lake was beautiful. Maybe to avoid the bees , you can hike in winter. What is the purpose of the ding dong on of the mountain if it has any and is that What it's really called.
It a repeater. Not sure exactly what it is for. Radio communication of some sort. Marine radio perhaps.
it relays radio siganal, getting back there in winter is a different beast to take on.
Do you have a rumble channel for all this content, as well?
RUclips used to auto upload all these videos but they don't allow that anymore. I've tried uploading but I don't get any views over there so it isn't worth my time.

my question is are you going to be able to find your way back? I hope you left breadcrumbs along the way, lol.

I’m curious where in the island this is. I can’t find anything in the internet about ‘Red Dragon’
It isn't listed anywhere because I named it. The guy who built the trail named the big lake there. Its out towards tofino
The Golden Hinde is the highest on the Island , 7201 feet.
still on my list
What Time of year, when did you do this?
September 16th 2023
I need to move from ontario
yes you do haha. I lived in St. Catharines for 2 years, I feel ya
Hi David, what video editor do you use to make your video?
Davinci resolve
