@@limaoatmosferico2975 Rathalos was actually the first monster I made any Monster Mender designs for, but I decided to go back and start in order. Maybe doing Rathalos, with some of the work already done, I could get that episode out during school
While I'm with Hexagon on sticking to the first gen for now, I'd be curious to see how you'd redesign Monoblos, although this would less be because of any fault I find in its design & more to make it distinct from its twin-horned cousin that seems to have stolen the spotlight in recent years; perhaps giving it more predatory features to make it distinct in behavior (it could even still maintain some of its more traditional design aspects by making it an insectivore or even a carapacean predator like Ludroth is,) or give it a change in environment, making it use its singular horn less for mating displays & more like the "horn" of a narwhal to punch through ice
God I love this, also I have to rant about Gravios, sorry to people, Gravios is meant to be a damage check, especially in 4U I came at him swinging and won. His chest is a blind spot where only his gas can hurt you, but when you break his legs to topple him and position yourself right, you get a clean shot at his back which has low part-health, break his back and the only attack protecting his underbelly no longer works, stop treating him as a bore and start treating him as a tutorial for part breaks, aggression, blind spots, and how to nullify a monsters advantages.
Basarios as a pseudo wyvern makes so much sense. His body is too heavy to fly and he likes to dig. I honestly thing that the blos and gravios family would be a pseudo wyvern if they were released at 2nd gen. But now that you mended basarios, i wonder if you will continue the change to gravios (if someday you mended gravios) or if you would treat it without considering basarios alternate design.
I absolutely hate magnamalo but the concept is cool so I look forward to seeing what he does with him, its a chame cuz I've seen lots of concept and fan art that's so much better then what we got
Hello Indomleon, good morning, first of all I want to wish good luck in the school year, things can be complicated so don't overdo it. For the designs. The first one is the usual greatness, the idea for a Basarios shell to tell its life is perfect, the whole design is perfect, it makes me feel like Capcom should in fact redesign its older monsters to better fit with modern designs. The second one goes on the opposite way the developers went, instead of making Tigrex faster with Barioth, and even faster with Nargacuga. You made Tigrex but slower and bulkier, and its surprising Capcom never went that way. The third one is simply the evolution, while I believe it would be better with ideas from the other 2, it being very standalone is also good, and the Brachydios body type is very under represented.
. I do agree with the horn, feels odd that it went from 2 to 1, the sedamentary rock look is cool too, not sure if it is mentioned, but you CAN see that sort of thing on the actual Basarios . I love those hoof like claws, the build and pose give me Rhino and Bison vibes, love the more noticeable vents on the head too, i can easily picture it blowing out toxins like a resurfacing whale . A Brute design is pretty fitting, here i would have thought Fanged to further emphasize the weight of the beast, hell I'd love to see this exact monster in a game
I love the striation idea! I think that could definitely help exaggerate differences with Ruby Basarios, and even sandstone Basarios if you decide to do them! Maybe when Ruby Basarios feed on their own back rocks, they have more of a tendency to crack, at which point the gemstones will fill the void and strengthen the armor, where sandstone almost ever has the issue of cracking, at the expense of the armor being generally softer.
I have two- rather, three monsters in mind for new episodes, if you are interested. Shen Gao ren, Bulldrome, Bullfango. The first one is literraly big legs crab with big skull, nothing interesting. (I'm not against anyone that likes him) And the other two are just just two big hogs that charge foward and have nothing going on.
My favorite Basarios is the 4U one, which you fight in the Everwoods. That part of the game when you fight him, along with the High Rank arc, is something that makes me happy to remember having experienced. And one of my favorite design aspects of that Basarios is that he's all covered in moss.
I feel like the first drawing of the basarios 7:17 is the sub-adult crystal basarios because the guild has no idea what a adult crystal basarios looks like
I think this might just be the best episode yet, I feel like the Tigrex skeleton is so underused and the second design makes use of it so well. Love the note format to, immediately gave me ARK vibes. (How does one make a one piece joke out of rocks? Rock Rock Fruit - Model Basarios?)
it would be cool if they made Basarios/Gravios a Brute Wyvern as that it wings became useless due to it's weight. Monsters evolving over the course of generations would be sick
AA I missed this when it came out all the same this has been entertaining, immensely I love the second designs somewhat bullish look, the goofy two legged boulder original is funny, but I love the look of this dangerous *beast* as it charges on its hooved claws. I am in LOVE with rock puncher however, I can imagine this guy putting up his dukes and going all boxer style with his frame, really amazing stuff as always. And I love your humour as always, that animation at the beginning send my sides to space.

Now I really want to see Gravios since you’ve redesigned Basarios! I imagine that if the third design were real, he would totally have a turf war with Brachyidios. Maybe the young Basarios is too naive in fighting to anticipate a Brachy’s attacks, so it loses. But the currently un-designed Gravios easily beats Brachy since it has tougher armor and more experience!
The secreting minerals on its back is such a cool idea and it could fit perfectly into the idea of camouflage and in making locale-unique basarios that they've always needed to be imo.

Ok so time to do what I usually do with your vids and look for some spots theses alternative forms can live The first one: I’d see it living in canyon areas in the deserts mainly the rocky areas in deserts for camouflage The second one: I’d see it living in mountain areas or plains not too far from the mountains cause The third one: I’d see it living in the elders recess or in caves where brachy live brachy and basarios being sort of symbiotic with them Basios protects and hides the nest of the Brachy while Brachy protects Basarios from danger mainly Dodogama
Yooo, the last design for the Basarios is actually SICK!! I fucking love me a great brute wyvern design. If i can do my magic again and suggest another monster. One like Yian Garuga or Blangonga. I think you mentioned that you were doing 1st generation monsters first. If thats true, then Khezu.
Thoughts on the monsters in wilds so far? Personally I'm glad they've showed a lot of non-element designs, these often require a more unique approach imo.
6:47 That’s actually just the lore of Ruby Basarios, they grow the weird crystals because they eat the gems found in the region and pieces of them crystallize on their backs, additionally rise also pushes this as a Basarios’s shell will visually be slightly different depending on where it is found, desert dwelling Basarios have a more pale shell evocative of sandstone while volcanic ones have a more charcoal colored one made of igneous rock- possibly it’s namesake basalt.
11:45 Here’s a fun idea for the crab take, what if you combined it with the symbiosis of the Decorator grab?! I have to takes on this, the first is combining it with a termite mound (there is a tortoise endemic life in rise that does this.), the crab has a soft vulnerable shell but the termite colony builds their giant mound atop its carapace, this provides it with a defense against predators and it can protect the termites against their predators with its superior size and strength- notably Barroth and Volvidon. In addition to physical moves it still contains the “vents” along the sides of the mound, except instead of releasing noxious gases it lets the solder termites come out and latch onto attackers kind of like Giggi’s or Zamite’s, when not in combat you may also see the smaller worker termites scuttling across its back. The second one instead revolves around a singular small monster, a roughly man sized Carapaceon based on a pistol shrimp, it constructs a burrow on the crabs back just like the original creature would but instead of relying on fish to help alert it the SHRIMP is the guard dog! When threatened it will mount itself like a turret and take its name literally by readying its larger claw like a revolver before firing the signature heat beam like the original monster, it can either climb atop the body for easy sniping, retreat into the burrow for pot shots, or climb onto the crabs arms/sides to actively duel the player with point blank shots or jabs with the pincers. Otherwise both ideas for the crabs are physical fighters that focus a lot on crushing attackers.
