gadget-faqs.com/why-is-there-... If your Samsung TV has dark shadows, this video will show you common causes and how to fix dark shadows on a Samsung TV
Mine is three years old and now does the same thing. Time for a replacement and definitely NOT going to be a Samsung. Bought Samsung fridge and ice maker was defective, microwave door was defective, too. The LG washer and dryer purchased at the same time are still perfect. Hmmmm...which TV to buy?
Same just happened on my not so old Samsung 55”. Annoying 7” vertical shadow just to the left of center. This is a hardware, not software/firmware/reset issue. Samsung support says it’s the backlight…which I ordered from Amazon just now for $25. Have scheduled Geek Squad to come out for $99 to replace it. If that doesn’t work… No more Samsungs for me and only OLED/QLED TV purchases from now on - since the backlighting won’t be an issue on those.
I am disgusted because nothing works. Over the past 5 years I've bought 4 Samsungs and it's the same thing. Samsung is the only one on which the Spectrum Ap really works.
My Samsung TV just got this issue 1 months after my warranty expired. I didn't really do anything; didn't move, touch or damage the TV in any way. Seems strange to me...
I have a slight shadow in the middle of the screen. I used the hard reset in the settings, and it seems to have worked. Just did it now, so ill see if it holds
❤ my Samsung is 4 years old it has a dark area horizontally along the top of the screen if I tune into a premium station like Hulu Netflix Disney Plus it does not appear only on regular programming
I have the exact same vertical shadow in the exact same place others are describing, left of center, it's about 8 inches or so wide now. Noticing a second one starting on the right side of the screen as well. 😢
Have never had luck with Samsung tv. If not one thing is the other. Not Samsung's fault though...it's my sheer stupidity's for continuing to purchase them.
Thanks for the video but none of your suggestions worked. I have Samsung tvs that are 5 years old still working perfectly, this ones only 2 years old! I guess that's what I get for buying this one from Walmart😬
Just had a shadow noticable for the first time on my lower end 4k samsung crystal maybe 4 years old now. Found this you tube channel doing research and while doing that it disappear so must have been internet connection but I am hard wired to my internet device running high speeds. But it resolved itself so all good. Still glad I bought a new TCL Q7 has my main gaming tv downstairs it's been a solid experience with the TCL
Mine is 3 yrs old and doing the same. It has a large black fade right down the middle. I will never buy another Samsung TV. I had an Insignia for 10 years without one problem and finally gave it to a friend who is still using it , 13 years and running.
I tried the soft reset, and the dark area went from a 14-inch grey area to half the screen going totally black. So much for a quick fix. Tried the other suggestions and ZIP NADA!
I bought the LED strip on Amazon. I opened up the video that shows you how to take the TV apart. I did everything exactly and everything was good until I got inside, the old LED strip actually burned through the clear cover(its a clear screen sandwiched in multiple layers inside)on the Outer Edge where it touches the LED strip with the plastic. so when I put the new LED strip on I can still see a very small shadow because of the reflection of where it was burnt. So I reopened the TV and I flipped the clear screen around so the burnt part could be on top ( which it worked) but as I was doing that I accidentally ripped one of the tabs from the screen and when I put it back together it left a complete black line about 5 in wide from top to bottom. I slammed the TV on the ground. But it's actually fairly easy to do if you don't have the suction cups use tape. I taped a piece of tape overlaped it then taped it again back to the screen so it can have a 4in strip hanging out that I could grab onto. I pulled the screen just fine. Have patience it is very possible the inner screens and the outer are very fragile be careful.
@daniel daniel I actually saw a video where I could have just sanded down the part that was burnt on the inside clear screen I would have been good the first time I got impatient if not I would have fixed that TV it's really not that hard once you see it just have to be patient
Thanks for this tip! After talking to Samsung support, it’s fairly clear that the 6” vertical shadow just to the left of center is likely the backlight. Ordered the 2-piece backlight from Amazon for $25.00 and will have the Geek Squad TV repair guy come out for $99.00 to repair this not-so-old, not-so-often-used 55” Samsung 7 Series curved TV. Going to the show them your comment to make sure they ‘get’ the complications you encountered before they even start. Since I’m not really keen to simply replace the TV if this shadow issue can get repaired for much less than a new one, why not at least give this fix try first. If that won’t work, I’m never buying a Samsung again and will go with OLED or QLED for all future TVs.
@Cheeka Cita don't do OLED they tend to get burn marks after a few months. Look it up for you by I just bought the Samsung QN 900 series neo qled its better than OLED as far as it lasting longer.
I’m about to attempt to do the same. But why did you flip the burnt part to be on top? Wouldn’t it have still showed a dark shadow on the screen but now in a different position? Just trying to get as educated as I possibly could before I open this thing up😂
My 2015 Samsung 55 inch went half dark at least I got seven years out of it they should last longer than that it’s crap don’t know which one to get now
This is a built-in defect Samsung wants you to buy new televisions I have the same problem top to bottom the television about 14 in wide dark shadow you can see the picture through the shadow but not very well it's dark... There is no customer service Samsung promises many many times under warranty to pay the technician to pay for the repair and they never do they lie.... They promise to repair it even out of warranty one free time they don't do it it's all a lie... I finally sued them and the lawyer for Samsung had an ex parte communication with the judge and the judge dismissed my case claiming that I had to have the same education as a lawyer to proceed with this... This is Pickens county South Carolina they very corrupt

LOL TVs display streaming content like movies and tv shows. LOL The TV doesn't know what it is displaying, it just displays whatever its 'told' to display. Trying to blame it on a specific category shows whoever made this has no idea what they are talking about.
I have a 2019 Samsung. There is a shadow in the middle of tv screen. Its out of warranty. My replacement will definitely not be a Samsung. I promise!😠
Turning off tv, unplugging, waiting a minute, replugging in the tv and turning back on worked for me! Thanks!
I have done that so many times and it has never worked for me. You're amazingly lucky.
We just purchased our Samsung less than a year ago. It is showing a shaded area straight down. What do we do?

Just happened to me.. was told my tv came out in 2019 and is out of warranty. Followed by would I like assistance in finding a newer tv in my budget
Nothing works! Funny how everyone has the same problem after just two years. Customers need to file a lawsuit
Same me
Same here 1yr and some months
Same
I don’t have a TV but a PC monitor 3 years old exactly with the same issue just seems like every screen they sell is garbage. Disappointing

Does anything actually work or do we need to trash the TV?

Mine just went. I’ve tried everything its a 2019. Sign me up for the class action suit. They are selling us complete POS.

Happened to me too.. on the first 55 inch curved samsung.. replaced it for a newer same tv and now it's happened on this one... wtf ?
Very hard to go into the menu when 99% of the TV has dark shadow😂
I have the exact same vertical shadow in the exact same place others are describing, left of center, it's about 8 inches or so wide now. Noticing a second one starting on the right side of the screen as well. 😢
Mine literally just came out of nowhere just now when I was watching tv…

70 inch in the basement that we used it maybe a month in the past 2 years. Just turned black in the middle of the screen.
Reset the cable box first! If you had your TVs picture coagulated

Anyone have the shadow move to another spot? Mine moved from the middle to the side.
Yep
That’s exactly what just happened to mine
Shadow moved to the left for me.-- obviously not burnt out LEDs
Mines got the middle AND side now, fuck Samsung, god I hate capitalism, I swear tvs last at least 10 years
Mine went from right side to dead center.
wtf is with these tvs mine isnt even a year old wtf
My just did the same thing.. bought it in 2019

I let my Samsung tv sit on screen saver and it fixed it until I played a movie on Netflix
It came back again when you started Netflix?
My 2019 sansung 55 too....😢
Exact same, just today. So there’s fix that’s really known?
