Crazy game can only end with a crazy finish.
I thought Phillips had the most genuine reaction ever to having a big playoff hit. He's not going through the pre-choreographed theatrics that all the superstar players seem to have ready among each other when they get big hits. He had that moment to himself afterward where he looked like he was gonna cry. It's truly one of the wildest and rawest moments I've ever seen in a World Series game.
I think his heart was pounding so much he had to catch his breath and even kneel down. I've had that feeling from legging out home runs in kickball as a kid and celebrating afterward! (That's as close as I'll get to the world series haha)
Yeah he’s got insane dance moves from clips we’ve seen from the Nlds celebration, he could’ve done a backflip or something but we get a child filled with glee running around like an airplane in the outfield before getting tackled by 27 other grown men. Love it
He was so humble too giving credit to every teammate. An amazing moment captured that defines what sports is truly about.

Brett Phillips is a microcosm of the Rays team. A person not well known pulling through in a clutch moment. The rays are absolutely relentless.

exactly was I was thinking, a guy getting paid no more then a million beating out one of the highest paid closers in the league, the perfect showing of the rays.

People don't get the fact that baseball is the cruelest of all sports. A pitcher can pitch lights out and shut down everybody. Then his backup can come in to close and with one swing of the bat can blow a great performance that just happened. Little things like that are why I love baseball and the possibility of what "can" happen is what makes it as exciting as what "does" happen.

Phillips stepped into the batter’s box knowing he’s a subpar hitter, tension was prob astronomical in his head, down 1-2 and he delivered! He may not be a superstar, but that’s a moment only a few people in the history of baseball can experience and one we all dreamed about as kids playing in our back yards. Good on him. 👍

I actually cried when I watched this live on tv, and every time I come back to this video, I get a little teary eyed. Phillips truly loves baseball and matches what it's like to be a baseball fan. Love it.

This game was played on my 35th birthday and I was there. I’ve gone to hundreds of games since I was a kid and this was without a doubt the best ending of any game I’ve attended.

Well... I feel like the Rays accomplished more with that game than the Dodgers did with winning the World Series. Think about it. First, it was a walk-off win in a big game. Those always feel better to the winner as it more than likely means that it was a close game that you managed to overcome in the end after fighting hard. Secondly, with that win, the Rays had broken their record for most games won in a single World Series (Previous best: 1). Then, there were the records broken by Arozarena. Finally, Phillips... Meanwhile... What exactly did the Dodgers achieve in winning the World Series, something they've done before? Stop another choke? I guess... But none of their wins was a struggle by the end of the game. Game 6 was the closest to that, but they had it won in the 6th inning. Really, for the Dodgers, nothing was achieved that they haven't achieved before.

Watched with my family who aren't baseball fans. They were complaining about it being boring. Then everyone was screaming during this play.
it is a boring and agonizingly slow paced game, that only true baseball fans (and bettors) can watch to the end. Once in awhile though, a train wreck happens like this, and the fair weather fan gets a bit of a rush.

I think there are a lot of Yankees, Astros, and Dodgers haters out there, so beating the former 2 and making it 2-2 against LA in the WS helps I guess. Others are just enjoying the madness, this was fun and intense, unless you're a Dodgers fan of course.

I love that basically everyone went after Philips right away, normally most players rush towards the one scoring the run, but I think the players were just so amazed that Phillips came through with the hit.

Yes, Jansen should have been backing up. Also yes, it's highly unlikely it would've made a difference because the ball came out perpendicularly to where the throw in was coming.
