    nice job. being able to do one tire at a time at a lower level is a back saver. i also like the way the rack swings out so you can get on either side before it is in final position. mine is an older hollywood rack carrying a regular bike. planning on purchasing an ebike & rack later this year. will use your link for the rack. excellent video, thanks!

    nice review. Swing away is definitely in my future, though checking the specifications this says its rated for up to 60lb bikes (mine is 85) so will keep looking. A suggestion for even easier loading of your ebike -- use a ramp. E.g. have a piece of wood (or metal) that you tie between the two bike platforms. (if you have traction plates in a easy to use location can use them.) To load the bike you can use the wook as a ramp to push the bike up next to the mounting strap areas then its only a small lift. A real back saver with an 85lb bike.

    Nice bike rack! I would remove unused second rails to allow easy bike loading and unloading. If you want to keep trailer lights, you can zip tie upside down to the rail where the bike is sitting.
    BTW, your license plate needs to be relocated to be always visible.

    I'm waiting on an order of 2 folding ebike, so I'm starting research on swing-away racks like this. Thanks for the review! It's on the short list, though I still think the design could have been simpler and also easier for getting the bikes on and off the rack.

    • @moonbeamwanderlust
      @moonbeamwanderlust 4 года назад

      No, it’s my gravel bicycle that I put on my car roof for when I go ride the local dirt roads. It’s a lot lighter than an e-bike.

    Hi Amber
    Thank you for the detailed video. It is very helpful. I noticed on the rockymount site it mentions the rack is not for use with bicycles with fenders but you seem to be using it with your Rad mini which has front and rear fenders. Have you made any modifications to accommodate this? Have the fenders created any issues ? I have ordered the hitch and want to make sure it won’t be an issue.

    • @AmberJBaldwin
      @AmberJBaldwin  4 года назад

      Bob Gould Thanks so much! ☺️ I haven't had any issues. The fenders clear the stop and I can put the arm under the fender and lock it down. It's easy.

    Hey there, just came across your video. I'm considering getting E-bikes for my wife and I. Was looking at the Rad Rover which is a bit different than your model. Also considering the same bike rack as you for our SUV. I noticed that the rack says not for bikes with fenders (as the attaching bar works on the wheel). Wondering if this was an issue for you. Thanks.

    have you had any problems with this rack? i want the same set-up but every other video shows the clamping arm for the tire way up the tire and i believe the web site said not for use with bikes with fenders. thanks in advance for your feed back

    I have the rad mini step through and was told the fenders would have to be removed in order to use the rocky mount bike rack. It appears you have your fenders on. Do you have problems with the fenders? Thank you

    Thanks so much for all the detail Amber, I have been researching a similar setup. I couldn't tell how heavy it was for you to lift the front and the back of bike since it was sped up? I am a short 67 year old woman and wondered if I could lift it like you did?

    • @AmberJBaldwin
      @AmberJBaldwin  4 года назад

      Sandy Perley It is heavy and takes some practice to get it on just right. It really just depends on your own physical upper body strength. Lifting the front first and then the back is key, but it is heavy.

      Hi Sandy, can you share the "similar setup" you were looking at? So far this is the only cargo-style swing away bike rack I can find...after 2 hours of searching.

    • @AmberJBaldwin
      @AmberJBaldwin  4 года назад

      Debbie Sunshine Mascovich 😀 I lift front tire up and secure it and then back tire and secure it. That's the easiest way.
