Great presentation of tuning differences. Good alternatives, thanks. How are you liking the Bamboo uku? Do. You use fluorocarbon strings?

Thanks! The Aklot bamboo tenor is a lot of uke for the money. It was pretty inexpensive and sounds much better than I was expecting. I wanted the Kala all bamboo tenor but decided to get the cheaper one for a camping/traveling beater uke and it’s been great for that. I don’t have fluorocarbon strings on it yet, just the stock Aquilas it came with. I will eventually though 😊

@@UkeWithSmitty I didn’t know of any other makes and therefore bought the Kala. I am happy with it but have wanted to try the Fluorocarbon strings. Phil Doleman was playing with Worth BL 36. I got the brown but they also make clear. I purchased from Strings and Beyond as the have been having a sale and their prices on all uku strings are good. They are thin and easy on your fingers too.

That G C E G tuning is the same orientation as the top 4 strings of the 5 string banjo, great for picking Bluegrass tunes...
There's another open tuning you may like to try, tune down 1 step to F# B Eb G# - this allows you to play songs easier in the keys of E and B...
So F becomes E and C becomes B, great for Blues - works better on low G string cause allows a great bass especially for country blues music...🎸🪕🎶 🎶
