Just what I needed! My CR-18 Kratos is coming on Monday and it's going to be my first crawler/trail truck after years of on-road race models. I wanted something of the right size for some indoors and outdoors fun and to use as a customization's "lab rat". Subscribed!
Timely video. I just ordered a CR-18 Harvest and I’ll definitely do these mods. Probably make a before and after video. I’ll link to this video of course :) subbed!
@@rccmrccrawlermods4517 haha I also do changes and mods, but so far with quads, and you can see in my channel videos showing those failed attempts haha. It's all part of the hobby 😊
I just recently got rid of the whole steering setup and mounted my Reefs99 servo onto the axle. Took some time 3d printing a custom mount but it worked. Lots of smooth suspension movement left and right. I did have to go 4 link though too. Great idea on your steering xD! As for shocks, stock shocks are absolutely fine. I got carisma oil filled shocks and man, they arent worth the overpriced value today (maybe around $17-29, but definitely not $40-50) Youd have to come up with your own way to mount the bottom of the shocks onto the axles and they tend to break easily at the bottom thread of the piston.
Sounds awesome! Would love to see what you did on the steering. Glad you told me about the Carisma shocks. I was thinking of trying the Tetra X1 shocks. For another day! LOL
Always had that interest in RC cars since I was a kid I'm waiting for my first RC crawler Kratos cr18, from what I've seen there isn't much difference in the chassis compared to the other cr-18s so would all these apply to the Kratos
Bought a Cr-18 for my nephew and the gears didn't make it through the life of the first battery. Store wouldn't exchange but they did put another set of gears in it. Maybe 2 or 3 more batteries before they were shot as well. He does not drive it hard to any stretch. Have you had gear issues. Any chance the gears need to be shimmed? Is there any gear hop ups. Can't seem to find.
So sorry to hear that! I have not had any troubles with the gears but did have the stock motor go out. Quick question, is he trying to push the car without the motor spinning with the throttle... causing the gears to turn from the wheels straining the gears? It is geared so low that it will distort them or strip them. In any event, I would contact the manufacturer. Sometimes they can be helpful...
Great in formative video Sir! You have a beautiful area to do some great videography! I too own a CR-18, but with the international Scout looking body. I love it! It’s very capable out of the box.I haven’t yes done any mods yet, but plan to soon. Hope you don’t mind if I borrow a few of you ideas🤪. This looks to be like a very promising channel, I’m subbing you! I too am a fairly new channel, about a year now. Finding, private advertisement is something I’ve been thinking about as well, but haven’t done yet. I have been using social media to post my videos, which does help a bit. Good luck and I look forward to seeing more from you! Enjoy your new place!
Awesome mods... thank you for the video. Question: Do you know of any kits to widen the stance of the CR-18 line of mini crawlers? I know that Hot Racing has wheel hub extensions for the Axial SCX24 line, but I can't find anything for mine.
@@rccmrccrawlermods4517 lol simple upgrade is just move battery and use double sided tape and put it on top transmission and raise the shocks to the lower center and you’re done. Lol no need to go to ace hardware for pipes and materials LOL

Hi... yes there are subtle differences and major differences in the drive trains at times. With some inginuity and imagination you can do alot!

Hey Thanks! I do know some wheels go out further... I will look into it also! Keep the shiny side up!
Cr 18 builders edition looks sick
You could put some bolt washers that fit inside the hub of the truck. They will act as spacers and widen the stance if the truck helping with crawling
Is the cr 18 water proof and does it have lights
Yes! It is waterproof.. and very bright light. I show that in the video... Enjoy!!
Is that waterproof
Ya. I am really enjoying the waterproof RCs!!
do u make/sell/ship this steering mod?
Interesting... I could make one for you but it might be expensive! I will figure out a way to make it cheaper...
I also run the panda x1
Yes.. I love the Pandas shocks. I put them on my CR 18.. BIG DIFFERENCE!!
