Perfect timing for this showdown. My Milwaukee brushed is about to rattle itself apart. I probably should replace it with the brushless, but that Dremel is tempting me. I just find that wherever I go, no one does rotary tools like Dremel. Thanks for all the hard work!
Thank you!. Just replaced my brushed m12 with the BL. It's amazing because of the constant torque. No one even mentioned it. It's so much nicer to use as low speeds. No more burning soft materials to compensate for torque w speed.
I was playing around with the M12 detail sander, and looking at other sanding pads. You could feel the huge increase in vibration with the pad removed - they clearly have a weighted counterbalance inside that tool. Tool alone with a bit, and tool actually engaged with something. Sanding drum on wood would be my guess for the most consistent? Just speculating, but a chuck with a lot of asymmetry might be worse under sideways load.
Another excellent comparison and thank you for putting it together. It's kind of tough to beat that Milwaukee 5 year warranty coupled with the new brushless model. Dremel is a mainstay from most folks and we use their accessories regularly during production. As for a corded option, the Foredom TX motor with the flex shaft and foot pedal is our go-to.
Good stuff. This is a tool I don’t use very often. I’m almost embarrassed to say I still have a variable speed corded Dremel that’s gotta be 15 years old. Maybe I should upgrade. 😂
I was looking to get a cordless dremel last month and the videos i watched all pointed go the dremel 8260 i saw it up against the brushed milwaukee I didn't even know milwaukee had a newer one im not mad about my purchase its been working good but for the same price and more power i could of got the milwaukee but oh well.
Waiting to upgrade my M12 to the BL when there is a decent sale. Recently I've been using the 18v brushless Ryobi HP rotary tool, the foredom type with flex shaft. That thing is a BEAST, I've tried to bog it down and man it just goes, super super powerful, you should test that out if you get a chance, by far the most powerful cordless 1/8 inch rotary tool. I only paid $68 for it tool only in HD clearance isle. Great buy I highly recommend that Ryobi.
great review. i got the dremel 8260 last year and love it's ability to maintain the set rpm under load , unlike my 8220 which doesn't have that capability as its electronics are blind to the brushed motor's actual RPM unlike brushless. BTW there's something wrong with the link to the brushless milwaukee in the video description.
If that Snap On was made in the US and had a better warranty it might not be a bad deal, but I think I'll check out the 2525, if it can use all my same attachments for my corded Dremel I've had forever.
The ones slightly larger then dremel tools, yes ruclips.net/video/WKbpqoqfg80/видео.html Hope to do the even larger ones @ some point just need to find the money lol.
just ordered the milwaukee bl yesterday, so this was a pleasant watch. had to pay $200 for it and that was the cheapest I could find 😢 great comparison video! btw If anyone has a hard time finding the EU model no. It's BLROT
are milwaukee rotary tools compatible with dremel accessories too? such as flexible or right angle shafts. those accessories are also one of important factor when using these kinds of tools. not the power only. If power needed 18v die grider is much much stronger. I remember Bosch and Dremel are compatible.
I just want the smallest one for fine detail work. Only battery platform I have is the Mikita 18v. Was looking at the Ryobi. Any other recommendations for a small size?
You can always get an adapter, I use Milwaukee and dewalt batteries in my xbu03z blower and there’s absolutely no difference the tools (you can even get adapters to use m18 dewalt 20v packs in an m12 tool if you wanted) using the adapter I use, it doesn’t affect the on board battery fuel gauge on the tools either ime but just make sure you get one with a low voltage cutoff or you’ll kill your batteries but Mannnnyyy of em have that LVC and the expensive adapters don’t always equal quality that’s for sure
Thanks for testing vibration as well. Again Snap-On asks the most money but can't manage to balance a rotor on a "professional tool" for prolonged use, same as on the die grinders.
Have had the Milwaukee M12 Rotary for 4 years now and I'm on my 4th. The first three just started blinking as if the battery was overheated/overloaded after only using them a few times each. The 4th one has lasted me about 2 years now so cross fingers I don't have that issue again but reading reviews on their website show there is a serious issue with them failing.
Can you please help me? I need a dremel tool that can remove screws/nails sticking out inside a 2 inch sliding door gap space. I think alot of the dremel tools don't fit 2inch gap, would you know which dremel took is small enough to fit inside there and powerful enough to cut off nails/screws?
For that tight of space you probably will need a flex flex shaft attachment. Almost all of these rotary tools are threaded on the end and will accept the attachment amzn.to/4dGqO11 Hope this helps
My only big gripe with the BL Milwaukee is the loss of intercompatibility with Dremel/collar screw-type accesseries. I'd rather just have the aftermarket adjustable chuck and keep a wrench nearby if required.
@@UnderBakedOverEngineered yep could be easy to do because of the quick lock. But they kept the Dremel standard thread with the quick lock being a little bigger. It’s an awesome design IMO.
awesome, I'm now going to go buy the milwaulkee esp being as I have an m12 driver. means this is the beginning of a huge red collection of things I don't know how to use. all the gear, no idea
I bought the Dremel 8220 when it first came out... I don't use it very much..if I need a tool like this anymore I just grab my Ingersoll Rand pneumatics...👍 Good comparison for people that need this tool though
00:59 you have BL M12 as shorter than older brushed model. But at that timestamp it is clearly taller. You also have BL as lighter than brushed, but it is larger in every dimension. Is it definitely lighter?
Thank you this is good to know, i guess they chose it that way so it remains compatible with the various ad-ons like the dremel 220 workstation. I've opened the Milwaukee and it appears to have an ordinary non-proprietary motor (not POWERSTATE) that is the same size as the dremel , meaning that the performance gap comes down to how insanely high the discharge rate on the Milwaukee batteries is, most powertools use samsung/panasonic batteries that can only manage burst discharge rates of ~15 amps (12.4V*15A= 190 watts)
Craftsman has one the battery is hooked to a cord but the tool is so small and light I was about to buy when I seen tye inverter so I just plug my dremel into into almost the idea and works great I'm pretty sure dewalt has one ready to come they take forever to put tools out sometimes I rather them come out with a angle rotary tool
Perfect timing for this showdown. My Milwaukee brushed is about to rattle itself apart. I probably should replace it with the brushless, but that Dremel is tempting me. I just find that wherever I go, no one does rotary tools like Dremel.
Thanks for all the hard work!
Yeah you really could go either way if you have both platforms.
No problem!
Thank you!. Just replaced my brushed m12 with the BL. It's amazing because of the constant torque. No one even mentioned it. It's so much nicer to use as low speeds. No more burning soft materials to compensate for torque w speed.
No problem! Yep with that powerful motor its holds the torque.
Probably should have put an engraving bit in for the vibration test. Collet jaws and collar will rattle a bit when not clamped down.
Yeah that’s a very good point I didn’t think about.

Thanks! cant go wrong with a corded Dremel!
I got the 8250 the other day at Lowes for $99.98 with the 3AHr battery. I don't need the bluetooth, so I saved $70 plus tax over the 8260.
Nice yeah I seen the 8250 was on sale, it’s a powerful rotary tool.
I love my Snap On tools but their prices on all their power tools are absolutely absurd.
Yep its crazy how much they want.

Yeah they didn't really promote the release of the brushless like Dremel did with the 8260.

Thanks for the info on the links! just went back and fixed them.
I got the brushed Milwaukee kit on sale in HD online for 79.99. About 2 years ago
Nice! the brushed m12 is still a powerful unit.

Yeah sad the SO isn't made in the US, on the other my Dremel attachments fit on the 2525.
Have you done the more heavy duty 1/4 inch straight electric die grinders?

Check out the Marathon Rotarty Tool! More craft version but does a great job with wood
Thanks for testing vibration as well.
Again Snap-On asks the most money but can't manage to balance a rotor on a "professional tool" for prolonged use, same as on the die grinders.
No problem! Yeah I forgot to point out just how bad the vibration is on the Snapon, crazy for the price they want.
I already got the corded Dremel 4000. Do I need this new Milwaukee one to add to my hardly-ever-touch Milwaukee collections?
Of course lol
100k subs deserved 👍👍👍 people hit that damn subscribe button
Thanks! maybe someday I hope.
Excellent info. Thank you.
Glad you found it useful! No problem!
M12 2460 brushed version is about $55 (hack) at the orange store right now.
Nice!

If you are working at a bench, you can't go wrong with a corded Dremel.
Yep!
The new brushless models have more power than the corded Dremels. The 8250(non-bluetooth 8260) is on sale now too.
I want to have the new BL milwaukee but the price is almost 3 times as much as the old one here. This is crazy😮
If your looking on amazon, yeah the price is crazy for the 2525, but on HomeDepot the 2525 is $130 vs $99 for the brushed 2460.
@@Tools-Tested I'm in Germany, no home Depot for me 😅

I should clarify, I thought those threads are incompatible/different pitch. Is that wrong?
No the treads are not different on the BL, all my Dremel accessories screw onto the 2525.
@@Tools-Tested that's great news, when it was first announced someone must have misspoke or have been mistaken about them being different.

God bless you!!
Thanks
This Hyper Tough rotary tool is on clearance online for 50% off at $17.50 right now!
Will all Dremel accessories fit the Milwaukee $200??
The thread is the same, hard to say though if all Dremel attachments will work.
A little unclear in which options are the best, would love to see a ranking top to bottom from best to worst and why pick X over Y
Really depends on the platform you have, if none then probably M12. If you have the Bosch 12v then probably the 8250.
I just use my corded dremel with my craftsman inverter works great
Hmm that might be an interesting test, thanks for the idea!
My Dremel just gave out. Do all these tools work with the Dremel attachments?
All except Proxxon
Thank you

00:59 you have BL M12 as shorter than older brushed model. But at that timestamp it is clearly taller. You also have BL as lighter than brushed, but it is larger in every dimension. Is it definitely lighter?
I will have to double check when I get back end of this week, I’m already away for work. It could be possible I reversed them.
What’s the BL ?
Brushless
did you use the 6 amp battery on the 8260?
Sadly they designed the 8260 in a way that you can’t use the 6ah. The tale coming off the tool hits the 6ah’s base before it can be locked in.
Thank you this is good to know, i guess they chose it that way so it remains compatible with the various ad-ons like the dremel 220 workstation.

I read a few reviews on the 2525 milwaukee, saying it wasn't good quality. Low speed issues, cutting out etc. I will stick with my brushed motor
How does snapon justify these prices while still making it in china?
Idk it crazy, I could maybe understand the price if it was made in the US!
I’m spoiled by the torque test channel. Can’t watch any more of this.
