Very good comparison I have a ranger it fits my needs perfectly not everyone needs a full size truck I'm glad Ford brought back the ranger they knocked it out of the park now if we could get the ranger raptors here it would be another home run
This was a fantastic comparison video, very thorough! I look forward to see more videos like this and I'd love to see all sorts of comparison videos done by you on all varieties of retail products.
Wow, what a well made video. People in the market for a pick-up will appreciate this - not just people wanting to see which truck can climb a rock with a cooler of beer in the back.
This was super helpful. I love how you priced everything out and the differences. I was thinking about an F-150 since I’m starting welding tradeschool soon, but I think I’ll be fine with a ranger and a toolbox?
wow! Thanks for the price break down! I was on the fence for a ranger, now I'm definitely for a Ranger! THanks glad I came across your youtube channel!
Great comparison with cost vs capacity but one thing it doesn't show is all the things you can do in a smaller truck vs larger. I just went from F150 to ranger and have been amazed at the tight turns I can make without backing up. Also parking in smaller stalls, parallel parking, parking garage or even in many peoples smaller garages. If you absolutely need the interior spare for large adults or kids or need to tow more, get the F150. For no kids, occasional riders and hauling lumber or towing smaller loads then the Ranger may be a better fit. Regardless of numbers we wanted to size down and the Ranger fit the bill. 😃
Great video, very informative. I'm moving from a 2007 F-150 Lariat to a 2021 Ranger XLT w/ option package 302b. The only thing I'll be missing (beyond what you described) is leather seats, which I didn't want anyway. Plus I'm picking up a huge amount of tech (My F150 Lariat doesn't even have bluetooth!). Then again, the '07 full-size Lariat stickered around $35k and the Ranger sticker reads in excess of $39k.
Love the size comparison. As a tall guy this is very helpful. Especially that here in Europe most dealership have none of those trucks on shop floor to try.
Love the format! Top engine, to top engine would have been just as valid though. Tremor F-150 vs. Tremor Ranger would be a good choice for the next one. Maybe Ranger Raptor vs. F-150 Raptor.
I'm only an off-road enthusiast (and only occasionally at that), but I'm a statistician by trade and I love this kind of video. Cost per component of work is something executives either love or hate (depending on whether they are already emotionally committed to a product) but it's the absolute best way to compare two options. An analysis like this shows the Ranger to be a better decision UNLESS your needs fit into one of the linear categories where the F-150 excels, i.e., you will need to haul the heavier loads or will need the extra headroom, etc. Very well done IMHO.
Yes I’d like to see more of these types of comparisons. I would love to see a Lariat F150 compared to a Lariat Ranger. When I bought my Lariat Ranger with every option it was an $18,000 price difference.
Would like a graphic put up when you do the cost per comparisons. When you announce the second one per category, putting up a graphic with the numbers and costs would help compare them in my mind instead of just hearing the numbers and then forgetting what the first number was exactly. Liked the video.
Great video! Very informative. The only thing I would change is to drop the percentages; they don't really add much. O, I would add text to the video so it's easier to follow the numbers that you mention.
One thing I can say is that our Ranger will take two booster seats, and an infant car seat in the back with no problem closing the doors. At first I was concerned that it may not be quite wide enough.
When I was 15 my mom's boyfriend bought a new 1995 ford ranger with the 4.0 V6 and 5 speed manual. It had a little back seat. XLT. Everyone made fun of him for getting it but it was a solid truck. He gave to my mom in 2000 with like 60k miles. Then in 2003 I bought it from her for 2500 dollars with 88k miles. I lifted it and put leather bucket seats in it and a flow master exhaust and cold air intake with computer chip. I ended up blowing a head gasket on it racing a mustang. That truck was actually kinda fast for it's time. I've been driving an 06 E150 but thinking about getting a 2.3 ecoboost ranger next year.
Would you choose the new Ford Ranger (max 7,500 lb) or an F-150 for full-time RV living with a max weight 4300 Airstream Basecamp REI 20X, and why? Thanks for posting this!
When I went to the Ford dealership, the 2021 Rangers weren’t in yet. I was unpleasantly surprised by the lack of safety technology in the 2020 Ranger. We are are getting a travel trailer in the spring. Our Tacoma is 7 years old and we are considering replacing it. Our car is a late model Subaru and we like safety/technology features like eye sight, BLIS, adaptive cruise control. When I saw the 2020 Ranger lacked all that, It was a non-starter. So all the data in the world doesn’t matter if the truck is lacking the features you want. The salesman said those features are coming int the Ranger.
Love this video! It would be interesting to see how things look over on Team Chevy, comparing the Colorado to the Silverado 1500. Although the 1500 is physically larger (like is the case with the F-150 here), the Colorado might have the edge, especially when comparing their respective diesel options.
Interesting, I would have bet money that the f150 would have been the better buy. But to me it still is because the f150 is more refined and has better quality of life features. If ford updates the ranger though, that could all change. Also while I love the f150, I am aware it has gotten huge. Which if you live in an old city, like I do, can make the ranger less stress inducing to park and maneuver. I like this kind of video, its very revealing. Still think I'd have the f150 though. Maybe "great gas car vs. Great hybrid vs. Full electric" next? Or "minivan vs. Crossover"
Serious question. I’m looking to buy a new vehicle. It will be used every day to do deliveries putting in around 40 miles on freeway and 60 miles doing frequent stops, equaling about 100 every single day. Deliveries are no hauling or nothing heavy. Kinda like food delivery. Today. April 2021. F-150 XLT or Ranger XLT? Which one to buy and why? Thanks.
Ranger STX. 1. You don’t need four wheel drive for what you are describing. 2. Ford boys cover your ears. The engine in the Ranger is a modified Mazda MZR engine. They just call it EcoBoost now. The MZR is well known for being one of the most reliable four cylinders on the market. 3. If you do your research and negotiate well, you can get a new Ranger for 30k tax and tag. Alternatively if you’re doing that much driving and you don’t need all the weight and towing capacity, just buy a Honda Fit and save 10k.
Compare it to a supercab f150. WAY more room in the bed and similar backseat size. A supercab f150 with the 5.0 cost me 34k here in southeast georgia for a brand new one. They were not offering the same discounts for rangers for some reason.
$11k savings, more torque (because that matters most), my kids drive so they're rarely riding with Mom and I, and I don't really need a truck to haul 90% of the time.....I may be getting a Ranger again, I have owned three and two full-size pickups.
I don’t know about the American market but the real life price difference is probably closer to 4 grand only... you can have an XLT Crewcab F150 for closer to 38-40 and an XLT Ranger will be 34 at least...
For my use I prefer the Ranger. Its more than enough to haul and tow anything I would use on a regular basis. The overall cost of the Ranger would be lower as well because of better gas milage, lower cost of maintance, insurance, etc. Its also much easier to drive in the city as well as park in tighter spots you would never fit in with the f150.
Selecting 4WD is not standard. My ranger has a higher payload than shown here cause it’s 2WD XLT. Not a 4x4. They need to know basic truck stuff before just saying numbers like that. Like if you get the off road trims which I don’t have you lose payload by a few hundred pounds. You always get less acceleration. I hit 60 in about six seconds. But that’s increase by .8 a second with a softer suspension meant for off roading. I never off road so I didn’t need all that. Just a XLT with leather seats. Perfect for me.
It looks like Full size pickup buyers are keen to go Electric. Rivian has announced that its R1T Launch Edition electric pickup truck has already been sold out. @t

What are you getting mpg ?
I've been getting 24.5-25 so far and I have 15,000 miles on it and haven't had a problem yet
@@paulpeters5199 crap. I have a 4x4 and I’m only getting 18-19. I must be doing something wrong. I have less than 1000 miles.
Is it pretty cold where you're at? Because it'll affect the mpg at times. I'm usually getting 24 myself til the cold snap hit
Yeah it's cold here it's been around 15 degrees at night for a while now
Yes please more of this type of comparison.
More of these types of videos please. It's very informative!
Great video. Thank you. Loved all the data comparison.
This side by side comparison makes so much sense! Well done
Love the data driven format, keep these coming.
This is the exact type of comparison I was looking for. Thank you for doing the work.

Fantastic job! Very useful and comprehensive. I'm not nerdy or techy, but I fully understood it all. Thank you very much.

Wow, what a well made video. People in the market for a pick-up will appreciate this - not just people wanting to see which truck can climb a rock with a cooler of beer in the back.

Love the video! would love either truck too.
This video helped make a decision. I like this quantitative approach. Keep it up.
You did a great job. Nice graphics!
I definitely appreciate data driven videos!👍
Very informative and straight facts- i like that 👍

The price is the reason my wife and I went with the Ranger. We got a 2021 for about what a 2018 F-150 with 44K miles was gonna be.

Very good comparison. I would really like a comparison with the F-150 having a 302 cu in V8.
Awesome video. Very logical.
This is good. I’m a fan of this video format. Maybe do a ranger vs Tacoma and a Tacoma vs Tundra in this format?
All comparisons need data like this! Suits those of us who are Dara driven and make our decisions based on hours upon hours of research.

Look for an xlt Ranger with technology package or lariat for everything you mentioned and more. Just build one on Ford's site and see for yourself

Only in America would something the size of the ranger be considered "mid size" the thing is huge
If the ranger is huge then the F650 is like a tank
The Ranger, Tundra, Colorado are all roughly the same

Who would drop 43K for the F-150 with the base 3.3 l V6!? For that go with a lower trim and get the 5.0
Wow
👍
No one buys the base engine in f150
This video canfirms it. The slightly smaller truck is the new F100. Why won't the Company admit it?
The Ranger should come with an optional Sunroof
Did anyone else hear the cry for help in this video? It's Emme desperately begging to get back behind the wheel.
Ranger = people that want a truck, but never really need or use a truck.
Maybe: Ranger = people that don’t need to compensate for any of their shortcomings..
Ranger = people who want a new truck under 30k.
nobody is going to buy the 3.3L engine in the F-150, its not a fair comparison
Ya - I Dig on the Data-Driven Video
