Found your videos yesterday. I bought a new 2016 Voyager in January from Paulsons in Lacey. It did not take me long to see watching this video and a few others that you are in the Tacoma/Lakewood area. I live in Lakewood. I Ivanized at the 1900 mile mark. Wow...new bike and runs cooler. Also the mirror extenders, Bakup backrest, Scootwork risers and a Slipstreamer 16 inch windscreen. . Paulson's gave me 30% off any accessories I bought when I got the bike...so I got the Kawasaki Pillow Top tour seat, saddlebag liners (great on trips!) and the connecting cord for my MP3 player. Ride safe! May see you on the road sometime.
I'm getting sold on the Kaw in this model. Several things that sell it are that everyone brags on the seat! The sound isn't abusive! Handling is apparently very good! Putting $13K in my pocket over the Harley or Honda appeals to me too. Minuses would be losing my reverse, center stand, shaft drive and on the fly air shocks. (96 Goldwing). Great video!
I have this bike in the same colour from 2010. I notice yours has the extra fan behind the seat to draw the heat from the exhaust away from the rider's legs. That is a big improvement. This is a good comfortable bike that you can spend the whole day riding. The 6 speed box and the cruise control make it so easy to enjoy a day riding.
@@edbigtruck I just bought a 2019 Vaquero, i have no idea what ECU is and why you need to flush it, can you please tell me what you guys are talking about and why this is important to do? thank you.
McDee , it’s he Electronic Control Unit. Basically the computer of on the bike. I’ll try and explain it easily. Basically Reflashing it will make the bike run a lot better it gives the bike better throttle response.stops the back popping when you let off throttle. Better fuel economy. The fan will kick on quicker so the bike runs cooler. The Vulcans tend to run hot. Which you’ll appreciate when it’s dead of summer and that rear exhaust pipe is sending a lot of heat up toward your right leg when you’re at a traffic light. To the point you feel like it’s burning your leg.
These bikes are great! I couldn’t be happier with buying my Vaquero. It’s just a couple small things like a Reflash that will make the bike so much better. I have yet to have mine done. But seriously considering it. Every video of a bike that has had it done. Has been very happy.
Good vid...I have the Vaquero.......I have done the Ivan's Flash, K&N filter, Freedom Performance pipes.....don't regret any of it except the pipes are loud..and therefore I am getting the quiet baffle.....definitely more power...smoother ride.....but like I said, LOUD without the baffle...
I was looking for a similar bike and after multiple videos and articles I decided for the Kawasaki Voyager. My wife and I love long trips and this look like the best bike for us. Of all videos, Voyager Vlogger, has the most comprehensive videos. I did watch all he’s videos about the bike and decided to start shopping for one. In March of 2023 I did see a Kawasaki Voyager in front of a motorcycle shop and I decided to take a look at and test ride it. We agreed on the price and decided to think it over and reconnect the following day. I did decide to call the shop and agreed to buy the bike. Been a used bike, I asked if they have more info about the bike. She told me that the previous owner has a very detail history abut the bike since he bought it and has a lot of videos in RUclips about it.(!?) Now, long story short, what is the chance that you gather information about a bike and finish by purchasing the bike in this video!! I am the new owner of this bike now and I’m really happy about the purchase. Thank you Voyager Vlogger!
I just got my 2022 Kawa in December. Fresh off the truck from Japan. Only have 150 miles on it now. Not many warm days here yet. I have always been fond of the reliability of the Kawa. This is my last one. Glad my wife is not the jealous type.....LoL!enjoy and be safe!
Again, fun to see you driving areas I am familiar with. I am glad I found your videos because this is exactly what I am looking at and glad to hear your perspective.
Nice vid! I'm strongly considering a Voyager myself, so this was very informative. You mentioned the Ivan's ECU flash, and I've read where it also helps the motor run cooler, so hopefully that will address the heat issue you mentioned. One of the many attractive features I love is the retro dash. I'm curious what your thoughts are about it when riding in the dark. One Vaquero owner thought it was almost too bright at night, but I think Vaqs use a little different gauge color scheme, so they may be brighter than the Voyager's guages. Looking forward to future vids.
Nice trip around the bike. I, think the 1700 stock pipes are one of the best sounding pipes around and the stock seat is one of the best too. Had my seat cut down so I can flat foot it with a bend in my knee. Would like to see passenger grab rails on the Voyager like on the Nomad. Think you said in another vlog that you were thinking of getting some risers for your handle bars. I was thinking about that to but when I had the seat cut down 2" and moved ahead 1" the Knot in my right shoulder blade area went away. My inseam is only 29"( just for reference). The driver backrest made a big difference also.
Congratulations on the bike. What's that icu flash that you were talking about? I think you are better of with the voyager over a Harley. They charge to much and they are also having some serious problems. Speaking from experience. I have a 2012 ultra limited.
I'd take the Kawasaki any day over the H-D! That Voyager is a very nice bike! I'm a new rider,so I'm starting out on a much smaller bike,...the Ninja 300! I'm more a sport bike type of guy, though! If I upgrade,...it will be to the Ninja 650!
For anyone who has one of these, can these be set up (suspension wise) to get good cornering clearance? I am currently riding a 2007 Vulcan 1600 Nomad. With some extra pressure in the rear suspension, it handles very nice on backroad twisties. If/when I ever upgrade, this bike would be probably my #1 choice.
Yes, set your suspension to 3/30 psi. The bike handles excellent with those settings, I corner the same as I did on my Goldwing. I rides and handles like a dream.
As for the rear exhaust heat, I had the same issue on my 2014 Harley Ultra Classic. Take a look at Cpat'n Itch's crotch cooler. They are basically leather flaps that go under the seat and hang down either side just enough to effectively block out this heat. I love mine. I have no connection to them, just thought it might help. Not sure if he makes em for the Vulcan or not.
15:10...... agreed 1000%....I wouldn't say no if someone gave me a hog, but for my money, I'll go with the Kawasaki..... Save a lot of cash and put that back into the bike with addons, mods, and gear.

@@voyagervlogger6501 Never had a problem with the self cancelling indicators. The range indicator is constantly recalculating based on how fast you're going at the time and how much fuel is left. Man here in Canada I get 5.8 Liters/100km. Metric is so confusing. I try and cruise around 2k rpm. I dive in to a station as soon as I can when the fuel warning comes up. Premium only 92 Octane
I have a 2012 Nomad with the same engine and the mpg dropped as the bike was broken in. The mpg went from 43 in the first few months to just 36 when broken in. I am very disappointed with that cause I can only go about 150 miles before I need gas where my Harley friends go over 200. The suspension on the bike is nothing to brag about cause you feel just about every bump and crack in the road up the bars and your seat. I always let air out of the shocks and run them at atmosphere and put the damping dial on 4 and the ride is still kinda rough on the tailbone.
I would check the air filter or even get a K&N and try and get an Air/Fuel ratio test done especially if your exhaust is sooty black, mine is dark gray. 2012 Voyager I get 48MPG on 92octane when I am relaxed and 36 when I am excited. Those Harley's do make more HP and can get great mileage but they do break down and need rebuilds if they use the power too often. As for the ride they all come with OEM Bridgestone tires that are to be filled with 28psi which gives some degree of cushioning, if you have a Pirelli or Michelin on it at 40psi you will feel a lot more from the road.
Eddie Romes two year old bikes with low miles are an even better bargain! You did get a good deal. I couldn't get them down that low on a new one. Love my Voyager.
Harley Savidson exhaust sounds good but gets annoying on long drives ??? So your saying you've NEVER opened or ridden a Harley . NO MOTORCYCLE, comes loud and annoying. You need to make it that way after factory ships it to dealer. You buy it. The Kawasaki has the closest sound, if you change exhaust it's just as annoying
I am on my 1st hd I will likely nvr own another one due to their dishonest financing practices. I will get one of those next time. Kawasaki owns Harley Davidson anyway 2014 don't buy a Harley Davidson they are unethical.
Not disagreeing with your comments on their practics.. but no, Kawasaki does not own HD. There was an April fools joke a few years ago circulating that said this - i guess the jokesters got ya! good day!
Financial contracts are written out before you sign. If you chose not to read them, it's your fault. While no bike is perfect, when one does break down, especially if on a road trip, what will you do for repairs? I can tell you from personal experience, that if you are on a trip, HD dealers will put you to the front of the line, for service. Wonder how many Kaw dealers will do that. Not knocking the bike, or the dealers, but even the Voyager Blogger, says "he would like to own a Harley, but didn't want to pay the extra money for it". That tells it all, in my book.
Have a 15 voyager...if i knew then what i know now i would never have bought it.. 1. Garbage head bearings..plastic casing around bearings causing death e wobble while decelerating 2. 389lb gvrw..my wife and i together are over the max weight without any gear 3. Always runs hot..for being water cooled it sucks..only thing to help is add an aftermarket oil cooler 4. Going uphill 60mph in 5th..i still have to downshift to maintain speed My impression is it's a piss poor Kawasaki design
Very under rated bike. You get a lot for the money.....Personally I think it's a very handsome motorcycle

Once its reflashed... its a new bike.
Great price, much cheaper at $17.5 than the competitors.
Scott I shopped around and I got my Voyager for 13.2 new!!!
Eddie Romes two year old bikes with low miles are an even better bargain! You did get a good deal. I couldn't get them down that low on a new one. Love my Voyager.
Not bad
There was an April fools joke a few years ago circulating that said this - i guess the jokesters got ya! good day!
I just got a Voyager and both the bike and their financial practices are bad!
I won't this bike 👍👍
You need to replace that horn! Put something on that will wake up the braindead.
Have a 15 voyager...if i knew then what i know now i would never have bought it..
1. Garbage head bearings..plastic casing around bearings causing death e wobble while decelerating
2. 389lb gvrw..my wife and i together are over the max weight without any gear
3. Always runs hot..for being water cooled it sucks..only thing to help is add an aftermarket oil cooler
4. Going uphill 60mph in 5th..i still have to downshift to maintain speed
My impression is it's a piss poor Kawasaki design
