    I had what I thought was the perfectly planned hospital bag and then my water bottle spilled all over everything when I was in labor. But it's really true, the hospital does has everything you need. Best of luck with your delivery Dr. Ellis! And cherish the little time and control you have left because before you know it, your baby will be all consuming.

    Excellent planning, Dr Sam! My daughter decided to come 4 weeks early and my water broke at a friend’s house while I was sewing green gingham curtains for the nursery! We chose not to know our baby’s sex! Green was neutral! Soooo, IF I had packed a baby bag, it was at home and we were on the way to the hospital without it! Yes, you DO have an advantage with all your medical knowledge and experience, which is a hUge plus! We hadn’t finished our Lamaze classes so we were young, married a little over a year and pretty clueless! It’s amusing to reflect back on now! Much wiser and relaxing to be prepared! 💕🤰🍀 👼 🤠💕

    Hi Dr Sam,
    All the best with your upcoming delivery and becoming a mummy! It’s the most wonderful experience!
    Not sure if your hospitals in the US provide these, but I would pack some
    breast pads for leakage. The cotton reusable ones are so much better than the disposable kind as they absorb more.
    Also, as a few others have mentioned, consider packing a soft cotton long sleeve long-leg zip onesie with enclosed feet for bub. Our midwifes recommended these as new bubs often don’t respond well to clothing with waist bands.
    Love from Australia

    Have you made a playlist of music for your delivery? Also, my daughter took her sonogram with her so she could use it as a focus point during contractions. Sounds weird but she said it really helped her "keep the eye on the prize" so to speak!
    CONGRATS & safe (and fast) delivery!!

    Great list! I’d add one more easy access nursing top! Just a thought, the big shirt is comfy but it won’t be convenient to nurse in and that’s basically all you do after you give birth. 😉

    Hi! One thing to consider...the take home baby outfit you packed is a 2-piece. Id maybe consider a super soft one piece zipper jammie that has footies to keep those little cold feet warm. Plus, you dont have to pull it over the newborns head. It occurred to me that you had little sweatpants, but not socks for those toes! Throw in a pair of socks! Im so excited for you♥️💐

    Great items to take!! You will like being able to keep your skin and hair looking good. Maybe a backup baby going home outfit. You wouldn’t believe how quickly an outfit can get wet from above and below, and you don’t want to keep damp cloth on baby skin. It’s going to be so exciting! Memories you’ll never forget:)

    Hi, I was wondering if you could do a video on scalp folliculitis? I've had recurring lesion on my scalp throughout the years and I get flare ups that won't heal easily! I suffered hair loss in high school (I'm 27 now) from taking an antibiotic for acne called minocycline and my scalp has never been the same since. I had a bad reaction.. hair loss.. any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated

      Nursing pads was what I was thinking too. With my 2nd birth, my milk came in while I was in the hospital and I was leaking like crazy. The hospital gave me towels to stick in my shirt.

    Question: is it sanitary to pre-soakt he cotton pads with the micellar water? Does it last how ever many days? Because I am not a professional, but in my layman´s understanding, I would think that it might get moldy or have bacteria accumulate on it in this moist state? Thoughts?

    • @DrSamEllis
      @DrSamEllis  2 года назад +1

    I recommend an extra pillow or two for propping up your back, your arms (when holding the baby, etc). Take pillow cases that don't mean a lot to you. All the best!

    Being a dermatologist are you okay with your baby being bathed with the wash the hospital provides? I’m due may 1st and being extra, so I’ve packed a special wash for my little ones first bath 🥰 luckily I’ve got a sample to bring and not the whole bottle 😆
